Gut waipeu: The Good Wife (2016)
Maturity is the Essence of "The Good Wife"
Whether you quibble if actors Do-yeon is older than Julianne, which she isn't (February 11, 1973 vs. June 8, 1966 birthdates, respectively), the soul of "The Good Wife" is how Alicia Florrik navigates the maelstrom of forces that challenge her integrity, that threaten shackling conformity to her iconoclasm, that demand conclusive decisions from irreconcilable alternatives, while radiating the aura of invincibility. To portray this manifold complexity with authority requires a physical and emotional maturity in an actor equal to the role. Too young of an Alicia would strain the willing acceptance of the character by the viewer. Without empathy from the audience, the entire creative endeavor fails to engage as poorly as a political candidate who fails to attend their own debate.
