The Twilight Zone (2019)
Wasn't terrible. Watchable.
The original Twilight Zone series is in a three way tie for my favorite show with "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and Alfred Hitchcock Presents". The one in the 80's was disappointing, but not unwatchable. These story lines in the new one weren't bad but casting made it seem like there was a social agenda. It just felt like one group of people were being made to be the villain all of the time. Kind of makes me feel like I'm not supposed to like a certain group of people. Luckily I'm not an idiot and am not influenced by media, but still it's apparent and weird. The twist and shock of this sci-fi series was what made the original great. Wish they would have focused on that more.
American Refugee (2021)
Real passive aggressive message here.
This was about something else other than the plot. Would have been a good story if it wasn't trying to have a message. If they had focused on the bigger situation of what was going on and stuck to the format of apocalypse/suspense sort of stuff it would have worked. The actors were good, they would have been better with better writing. The ending really iced the cake on what was wrong this. The man who was supposed to be (I'm assuming) the embodiment of all that is bad with the world (according to modern popular opinion) just submits in the end and doesn't fly off in a vengeful rage? Sure, that makes sense.
Geronimo: An American Legend (1993)
Good movie. Inaccurate history.
The movie was well made but didn't accurately reflect who Geronimo was. He was a coward racist who died from pneumonia because he was too drunk and fell off his horse. That's a very short explanation of it but read a book and prove me wrong. He was however followed by brave warriors that part is true. Not sure why great men followed him, he must have had a certain charisma. The Apache were a noble people but Geronimo was less than buffalo dung.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
Imaginative I suppose
Highly watchable movie, somewhat entertaining. Found the reimagination of history distracting. I mean there were towns with not white guy in them? Great actor selection though!
Kapture: Fluke (2017)
Feel like there's an overall message
Didn't see a whole lot of people of color in any of these. Not sure if the message is we are to dumb or white people are super evil. Maybe that was just the actors available. The third option is probably right.
Zygote (2017)
Dialogue writing was bad?
Male actor just had bad dialogue. Not sure if it was written that way or he improved it. To distracting to make the piece watchable. Skipped to the next episode.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Liked everything about this except Tig Notàro. Bad choice in casting. Would have went with a Jay Oakerson type.
Tig Notàro was wrong fit for this. Ruined a pretty good movie.
