Dynasty: Vicious Vendetta (2022)
Ben Carrington
WOW! What a cliffhanger! I'm ecstatic thinking about his introduction, and I'm praying they do the mystery with Blake and Bens mother. Dynasty has been on a roll with 5x11, 5x13 and 5x14! I hope it all culminates with Claudia torching La Mirage, Stevens return, Caress crashing Alexis' new marriage, and the trial from S6. Come on Dynasty, go out with a bang the way you started!
Dynasty: I'll Settle for a Prayer (2022)
Dynasty is BACK, even if it's only for one episode
Wow, Wow, WOW! Where to even begin, THIS is Dynasty. THIS is how you write the show. It felt exactly like a Season 1/2 level episode. There's a reason this episode feels so utterly miles above the rest and it's because it doesn't make a fool of the characters and make everything a joke. Dynasty isn't a comedy, it is a drama- and that's what this episode succeeded at. Kudos! I hope more new and old characters return this season.
Dynasty: Mind Your Own Business (2022)
Mediocre episode at best
It's approaching unwatchable. Culhane, Liam and Kirby desperately attempting to seem relevant every episode is so tiresome it takes all enjoyment out of watching. Why are they still here? Anybody?.... No I didn't think so. Anyone with a half brain has stopped watching with this insulting "humour" as of late. I miss when this show had some guts and was dark, not selling its soul to a crowd of Tik Tok pre teens.
Dynasty: Devoting All of Her Energy to Hate (2022)
Another great episode
Fallon and Jeff interactions are always amazing and fun to watch. They should be paired up more often, especially with Morell Green Energy Co. Definitely my favourite storyline tonight behind Rita and Cristal. My jaw was on the flaw! S5 is so much more OG and it makes the season so much better because of it. Alexis and Dex were sorely missed. Alexis really brings the drama and entertainment, but she will be back next episode, and finally some scenes with Cristal! Yes! Daniel Reece and Sams storyline is so interesting aswell, can't wait to see what twists and turns it takes next. I wonder who Patty was calling aswell... perhaps another OG character? Lady Ashley would be interesting. Culhane and Kirby are wearing thin, I hope they leave soon for more Alexis.
Dynasty: Go Catch Your Horse (2022)
An interesting episode to say the least, helped by the fact Rita, Cristal, Alexis and Dex smashed it. However....
Once again Culhane proved his lack of worth. And Kirby, who has really reached the end of her story rope is modelling instead of using the blackmail against the Carrington's? Kirby should be a mini villain before her final storyline. This is just kicking a dead horse. Dynasty used to have at least four amazing villains every season, and Sallie wasn't afraid for them to be mains. S1: Claudia (who would make hell for Blake as she starts dating Adam), Alejandro, Jeff then Alexis with Hank. S2: Kirby, Ada, Adam, Laura then Dom. It just seems obvious that Culhane should be written off, Kirby also after using the blackmail book and then bring back Claudia, Laura or introduce a new villain like De Vilbis. Imagine having Rita, Kirby, Peter De Vilbis and then Claudia with Adam as the villains for the season! That would be amazing and the exact momentum needed to make S5 the best season since S2. Right now I'm starting to see some filler creep in, the easy fix is to axe some mains who have overstayed their welcome so we can get more characters like Rita, who is the most delicious villain we've had since Claudia.
Dynasty: That Holiday Spirit (2021)
Loved both these episodes
Rita is going to be a delicious, fabulous villain. No one will ever top Claudia though, who absolutely should make a comeback. Cristal is getting more limelight which is a big plus. A big mistake in the original was Linda slowly fading into the background, but here Cristal is fighting for a good storyline and she's certainly got it. Can't wait to see the catfight and hopefully Sable or Caress join to compete with Alexis while Cristal has her hands full! Some of they best episodes the show has ever produced. I hope this isn't the end of Brady though, he deserved a few more episodes. If Ben or Caress ever join fingers crossed they get 8+ episodes to develop their storyline.
Dynasty: Filled with Manipulations and Deceptions (2021)
Am I the only one who missed Colin?
Colin was a firecracker to the show and he and Fallon had an amazing chemistry and Colin as a character brought that more competitive, strong and powerful business aspect out of Fallon which has been lacking since S2. I'm just bored of Liam. Fallon is most interesting when she is taking over the world and kicking ass, and if she can't do that with Liam by her side then get someone who can. The ending scene didn't shock me much, I really only care about business Fallon at this point with her character. Otherwise, a lot of original Dynasty nods this episode which was fun to spot. I don't know why they stopped using original lines from the 1981 Dynasty in the show that were also the episode title. I loved waiting to see what character would say it and the callbacks were always great, plus it made the episode more memorable. Dark Adam is back, finally. Goody goody Adam is a bore to watch so as a fan of when Dynasty is darker i was very pleased. What Adam did to Alexis is everything I needed in life, and Elaine looked stunning while it was happening. Another season passed and I still feel nothing for Kirby, Sam or Culhane. Kirby at least is becoming more serious with her storyline's but Sam is a waste of screen time without Steven. Steven is so much more interesting as a character and I continue to get angry at how badly they have shafted him. Steven deserves his place in the show, and hopefully next season is his long awaited return.
Dynasty: You Vicious, Miserable Liar (2021)
Please stop with the filler!!!
How can an episode before the final two of the season feel so nonchalant and unimportant? The trip was a waste of screen time and added nothing to the episode or show. Blake's campaign should be the most important and involving all the characters on the show. Did Kirby and Sam even learn anything? Well if they didn't, I did, and it's that they aren't funny, or dramatic, and there are too many characters. At least there was no singing or AU or Black and White scenes.
Dynasty: A Good Marriage in Every Sense (2021)
A Good Episode In Every Sense
I don't really get the love for the directing in this episode. Liz did a serviceable job but if Liz's name wasn't attached no one would be saying anything. Plus, I have a problem when someone like Liz who is already so prominent on the show and has a job, is potentially taking away a job from other directors looking for work. I would rather see someone like Michael Allowitz or Pascal Verschooris direct as they always manage to elevate the episode and create beautiful visuals. Anyway, the last 15 minutes of this episode were amazing. Cristal is finally being realised as a character and the commentary between Blake and Dominique's scenes were powerful and real. I hope we see more stuff like that. But, although Kirby is being set up for an interesting storyline, the character has really run out of steam and I would not feel bad if she and Culhane left the show. I'm not sure what the latest revelation means for Amanda, but Dex is a must regardless. You can't have both Amanda and Alexis on the show and not Dex.
Dynasty: Stars Make You Smile (2021)
Oh My God
This episode was everything I wanted and more! It looked beautiful, the jokes landed, the drama was keeping me hooked, everything just worked to perfection! Amanda, Fallon and Alexis stole this episode, and it is well deserved. Some of the best acting we've had from the show in a long time. I wish every episode was like this.
Dynasty: The British Are Coming (2021)
Embracing the OG
An entertaining but rather slow and uneventful episode, except for the last five minutes. A great utilisation of OG storyline's, including Blake's campaign and Amanda's arrival. It's extremely refreshing seeing the show embrace the OG instead of ignoring it, all of the best storyline's of the show are updates or homages ripped from the original. I would be disappointed if we don't get the attempted assassination with the senator storyline, or Dex and the suicide attempt with Amanda. There's a lot to pull from, and I, for the first time in a while, am every excited to see here the show goes next.
Dynasty: She Lives in a Showplace Penthouse (2021)
Another amazing episode!
So many references to the original show! I love it! So glad this show is taking itself seriously now and setting up the drama. I loved everyone's storyline's, especially Cristal and Blake's. Plus, crazy Adam is back! So much better than him being some musical prodigy that wouldn't harm a fly like last season. Loving this new direction and if the drama keeps building it may just be the best season yet! (That is if we forget the horror of 4x04 and there are no more surprise musicals)
Dynasty: Go Rescue Someone Else (2021)
Risks, Drama, Business and Stakes
AKA The recipe for the perfect Dynasty episode. Whoever thinks Dynasty should become some sort of musical comedy is absolutely ludicrous, this episode and 2x14 prove that Dynasty works best when it's dark, shocking and can really pull a punch. Leaving you with your mouth on the ground and in disbelief. I just wish EVERY episode could be like this, but I'll count my blessings after last seasons skid marks on the show. The dialogue and writing was perfect with little comedy. This is my kind of Dynasty.
Dynasty: But I Don't Need Therapy (2021)
Good episode, missing Alexis though.
It baffles me why Culhane and Sam continue to appear in every episode yet Dominique and Alexis don't. They are carrying this season and their clothes, acting and storyline's are leagues above everyone else's (besides Daniella, understandably so). Another noticeable fault this episode was with the acting, specifically with Kirby. If it's a budget issue, I think this episode proved that once Kirby is done this season, it should be her last. Alexis and Dominique can take her episodes instead! With Amanda on the way Kirby won't really be needed anymore, and Steven's return/ Dex's arrival would be far more entertaining and dramatic. Even at Seasons Four's lowest points, I can say I'm entertained and happy and not feeling belittled and insulted like last season (well except for 4x04 but I don't want to talk about that crap "entertainment".) Absolutely loving this season so far and it feels like the show I fell in love with! If there's no more singing or filler, and the drama keeps getting served, then hunny pour the champagne because I'm not leaving this Dynasty behind yet!
Dynasty: Equal Justice for the Rich (2021)
Best episode since Season 2
It's amazing to see the show take its characters finally more maturely and serious after last seasons mockery. I loved Corrine and all the characters were on point. I'm so happy Amanda is on the way, we need so much more OG characters and it seems finally they are changing that.
Dynasty: New Hopes, New Beginnings (2021)
More of this please
Finally, after being ignored for numerous episodes, the Colbys are front and centre and better than ever. This episode proved once again that everyone's more interesting than Fallon. I loved that in 4x03 Alexis was the focus, and now in 4x05 Dominique is the focus. More mature storytelling like this has been missed, and I appreciate that they weren't shoving constant jokes down our throats. Dynasty is a business drama first and foremost, not a sitcom comedy. Hopefully we can leave that dreadful nightmare from last week behind.
Dynasty: The Aftermath (2021)
Drama, Stakes, Business
Everything that makes Dynasty, Dynasty, was present. Dominique and Alexis keep getting better and better and at this point should be getting the most storyline's. I loved the nod to "The Aftermath", we need much more OG references like this!!
Dynasty: Everybody Loves the Carringtons (2021)
Bored and desperate
Throughout watching this episode I was on the verge of turning off my T. V and never watching another episode again. The only thing that got me through was knowing that a competent and talented writer who respects women and doesn't make jokes off them was on next weeks episode. Can't we leave filler episodes like these in the past? Honestly they are just boring and add nothing to the storyline. Just a waste of time.
Dynasty: Vows Are Still Sacred (2021)
Finally.... some Drama and Darkness
Dynasty is finally being the show it was meant to be, a reboot of a strong, iconic family business soap that is all about the drama, drama, and you guessed it, drama. I loved the darkness so far and it takes me back to S2 (which frankly is the last time this show was any good). I love the darkness and intensity as that's truely where Dynasty thrives. Finally characters are acting like how they used to, when they were mature, sophisticated and had an edge to them, as they were in the earlier seasons. It feels like the same show of S1 and S2.... Overall a great episode and a HUGE improvement over the garbage that was last season.
