Yuntum: Sanely Insane (2017)
Heart touching!
I had seen this movie 2 years back, surprisingly it was free on YouTube. I had no expectations as Sairat had created quite a stir all across Maharashtra and this movie, I thought; fell on the same lines. A rich girl, a poor boy, and romance brewing which was destined to blossom and fail. I was not only sweetly proven false by the storyline, but what amazed me the most were the songs! So melodious, you would never want them to end.
Coming to plot - it alters between the actors seamlessly. Sayaji Shinde is an impeccable actor. He essays the role of father who is beaten down by the new age technology that dents his traditional business and skills. His helplessness melts your heart. His relationship with his son makes you speechless towards the end of the movie.
The love story between the debutants is fresh. The actors portrayed their roles to justice. The movie too ends on a sad note, but keeps you heart wanting for more. The writer has unfolded the film beautifully.
In all, a must watch.
Minnal Murali (2021)
Minnal is Phenomenal!
Perhaps India has got its superhero! This movie has silently carved its way and hits the chord pitch perfect. Although Bollywood has given the nation much fame and recognition, not many would have thought this Malyali wonder would be a tough contender to massive bigwigs of the Hindi film industry. The film has probably everything that would make it a fun filled ride.
It begins with a kid who loses his father right in front of his eyes trying to save as many people in a fire accident. Years later a parallel story travels seemingly hand in hand in the same village. A woman enters the village who has a infatuated lover, and a tailor who wants to move to the USA. A lightning strucks the village and binds the faraway stories that would end together.
The lightning creates a superhero of the tailor. A hero who capes a traditional lungi and chappal. His innocence can be seen when he thinks Abibas is original and Adidas is a fake! Likewise the antagonist would stop at nothing to woo the woman he loves from his childhood.
The cinematography is excellent. The casting too is superb. Full marks to the CGI that never creates a dull moment. The balance of comedy, action, and romance makes the film lovable. It would be safe to say India has got its real and grass rooted superhero!
