Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
Good plot, bad execution
For the major part of the movie I felt like the same story could have been told a lot more effectly way, don't ask me how I would have done that: it certainly isn't my job.
There were some great ideas, thriller wise and not, such as "the lake of death"; however it's pretty sad to discover how movie's director created some plot interconnections, for example how did the SK known where to find Odette's daughter? How can a man transport tens of people towards his house of death without never being noticed? How did John and Odette find the house of death?
Plot twists are forced and supported by nothing most of the times. Ok, it's a 2 hours movie and some information can be omitted, but this time is just jumping from a scene to the next with a couple doubts more every time.
The idea behind the movie is pretty solid, but I wouldn't recommend the watch anyways. Do not except a complex or detailed plot.
Demolition (2015)
Funny movie, ruined by unnecessary propaganda
Feelings while watching this movie have been like a roller coaster: quite every scene where Davis(Jake Gyllenhaal) has atypical behaviors are comic and funny, then you realize that it's due his lack of feelings about Julia's death and you will start feeling bad for him.
The plot is entertaining until some petty propaganda comes in: I didn't understand why the producer included Chris sexuality into the movie script as far as the shop dialogue and Chris's beating are out of place and don't contribute in any way to the story; even because aside those details Chris character is precious since it helps David along his feeling rediscovery.
Army of the Dead (2021)
AWFUL
I'm used to movies that tell you something about them using backstories or just by having them hanging around doing something together; this time instead I got thrown in the middle of the action without knowing a thing.
Luckily I watched Army of Thieves before this one so I got a smattering of information about Dieter and his abilities as long as that vault history. I'm wondering how people that haven't watched the prequel felt about this mess movie.
How could I care about characters death if I don't know anything about them? All of us probably just cared about Burt Cummings and Martin death because of their roles.
I'm curios about the thought process being made about the soundtracks.. Am I the only one that felt those were out of place?
The Bank Job (2008)
Nothing crazy
I quite enjoyed watching this film.
They made it super easy to understand every connection even if there were a lot of flashbacks and characters.
Even though the plot is based on a true story it didn't amaze me that much to be honest, probably because they failed make me feel robbers's fear and tension as well as all their sadness about Dave loss.
The ending part goes to fast, some members of the crew get murdered in a few seconds and that's it, noone cares.
The Gray Man (2022)
SOLID - certainly not a masterpiece plot
While thinking back at this movie, I feel like updating my vote from 10 to 7 since I'm pretty sure my first impressions were affected by movie's appearances:; don't get me wrong, it certainly tells a entertaining and you can see from some scenes that is worth 200M USD. On the other side dialogues are not on the same level, at all. About the plot I would say pretty much the same even if I really liked the relationship between
Six and Claire.
OLD REVIEW
I understood I was going to watch a great entertaining from the first scene.
Usually I quickly get sick about unreal fights but this time it was different: I felt like they've done a great job mixing reality and spectacularity.
Honorable mention to the closing credits: usually I do skip them like everybody else probably, but this time they gave value to the film.
It just another Thursday. *devil horns*
Drive (2011)
Second half definitely pays off
I was going to drop the watch in the first 30 minutes, fortunately I didn't give up: the movie start to be more frenetic and appealing in the second half, I really appreciated how it turned into a more cruel and thriller movie.
Pipa (2022)
Kind of entertaining, wouldn't recommend it
First thing first I haven't seen the other two movies of the series, but I read about their plot and they didn't seem that much linked. Overall the movie is entertaining even if without rhyme or reason.
Soundtracks are the best ingredient of this movie for sure.
Honorable mention goes to Aquiles Casabella aka Cruz Carreras: he made interesting and appealing all the scenes where he appears thanks to his acting skills.
