V.C. Andrews' Landry Family: Hidden Jewel (2021)
several elements that jumped out
I haven't seen the other movies in this series, so my comment is purely on this movie only.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the mother and father appeared to be same age or younger than their daughter - Pearl.
This is not only about their appearance, but also the vibe they sent. The father just appeared to be so clueless and disconnect, in a way that irrelevant to the story plot, that made him more like a younger brother (who just doesn't care about the world) to Pearl rather than a father figure. For the mother, I blame it on her make up and hair style. The mother's acting was better, and appeared to have more stories to tell (not young and cluelss), but the heavy purple make up made her look like a teenager rather than someone older than her daughter Pearl.
Another thing that jumped at me was they mentioned to call 911 (as the number to call police). The number 911 was used in America after the September 11, 2001 incident in US. If the story setting is prior to 2000, it just didn't make sense to use that number. They could've done better...
I'm not done watching yet, but I also don't see how the cover picture has anything to do with the story. There's better images from the movie scenes than the snake cover photo..
