Monk (2002)
Brilliant feel-good detective show
After revisiting Monk after 10 years, safe to say it is a family favourite. I love how Monk is able to pick up on seemingly trivial details to solve murder mysteries. Although there is an overarching storyline of Monk solving his wife's murder, each episode can be watched as a standalone which means you can pick and choose your favourite episodes whenever you want without having to recall previous episodes. Also, they perfectly casted Monk's assistants - I love the relationship between Monk with Sharona and Natalie - they don't judge him but support him and believe him when others may doubt him.
Shalhoubs portrayal is remarkable and his humour is perfectly timed.
I'm finding that this is one of those shows where I wished that I forgot most of the episodes so that I can watch them again.
Overall, deffo worth a way with the family.
Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021)
Started off promising, but ending was disappointing
This sequel started off with the main character wanting to expose the people who set up the escape rooms and destroy them. She ends up at the location she believes is where the gamemasters are, and I this point I wondered, if you find them how exactly are you going to kill them? You don't have a weapon nor any military or combat training? Just ridiculous.
The protagonist then founds out the people in charge want her to design new rooms in order to survive. But she declines and somehow escapes only later to find out she's in another escape room. She's meant to be very intelligent, surely it'd make more sense to agree to design the game rooms then find out more about the people in charge.
Also, towards the end after the main 2 characters escape, its revealed that the police have found the dead bodies and apologise to the main 2 characters for not believing them before letting them go and board a plane. So you're telling me that these two have escaped 2 deadly escape rooms where many have died and the police are going to let them go without any protection!!??
Throughout the movie we don't learn anything about the characters, aside from being previous winners, there is nothing that draws us to the characters. They could have picked the gameplayers randomly from the street and the audience would not have felt any different towards them.
Finally, why would they end the sequel in the same manner as the first, in a plane!!???
Overall I liked the rooms, but found the story very ridiculous and not very believable.
The Good, the Bart, and the Loki (2021)
So much misleading promotion!
Angry to say the least. Seen so much promotion on instagram, YouTube etc only to go on Disney Plus and find out its 6 minutes in total, 4 minutes excluding credits. What was the point?!!! The description for the short says " Loki takes on the Simpson and Springfields mightiest heroes" . This was all a lie. Disappointed.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Way too political and unrealistic!
*may contain spoilers* First of all, why on earth have they made falcon so poor that he can't even take out a bank loan or save a small family boat!! He's helped save half the universe's population and works for the government and you're telling me he doesnt get paid or can't afford to buy anything??!!
Furthermore the villain was awful!! So unforgettable and very irritating! They don't explain how on earth a young woman who used to be a refugee or support worker got her hands on a batch of Super Soldier serum and where exactly did she learn the technological skills or the skills to take down the government. And if I hear Mama Donya again, I'm gna be raging, felt like banging my head against a wall whenever she mentioned Mama Donya.
In one episode, a Super Soldier says he'll stay behind to buy the group more time. And he literally runs into open fire and died instantly without even touching a cop. What was the point??!!! Should have just got on the plan with the rest of them. And it shows that Super Soldiers are not close to being invincible.
Also, they focused too much on political and making this about race and identify, nothing wrong with that but it did drag onnn alot at times.
Overall would have liked a more compelling villain and faster paced story.
