Infección (2019)
Dawn of the Walking Dead 28 Days Later in Venezuela
I found this movie predictable, uneven, rushed and premature. You have seen it all before, but so much better. At least some settings looked really bleak and abandoned and the camera work was good. But the plot was a shame. Absolutely nothing new, except it's in spanish (mostly)!
Night of the Living Dead (1990)
So painful to watch! Shame on Savini for ruining this opportunity!
I'm quite furious about this needless remake. The heroine's acting is so overdone sometimes it ruined the scenes completely. All zombies look more comical than frightening. You can clearly see that they are beating up dummies. Special Effects Prodigy Savini did a bad job here overall and as a director he failed miserably, because you don't care for any of the survivors. You just impatiently wait for this miscarriage of a movie to finally end.
I really like Tony Todd, the great CANDYMAN, and I only watched this pulp because of him, but it was impossible to make anything good out of the superficial character and stupid lines he was given..
Go for the original from 1968 instead. It's a classic and far superior in every aspect!
Chopping Mall (1986)
Extremely uninspired and insipid
The beginning was quite promising and provided some chuckles with the presentation of these ridiculous looking toy robots. But after the ten-minute-mark the movie collapsed to a stupid borefest.
I sat through the whole movie and even only 77 minutes dragged a lot because all is so predictable and just plain bad. There is no thrill to be found, scenes intended to create panic and despair made me check my watch, SFX are cheap and the deaths are unimaginative and left me unconcerned.
I'm surprised how many people praise this movie as a cult classic and a must see.
It's boring, it's bad and it's a waste of tim, so thumbs down!
Joker (2019)
Sub par
The movie didn't feel like 1981. The first half is dragging a lot and is quite predictable. Only when Arthur meets Bruce the movie builds up a bit of momentum. The depiction of Arthurs mental state didn't convince me at all. Overly long scenes of annoying laughter and strange dancing. Ok, Arthurs strategy to flee from his frustrating existence. Still, not gripping, not disturbing, not convincing, just annoying!
And then, "look how much weight I lost for this movie, look how thin I am! Oscar-worthy, isn't it?"
The movie borrows heavily from Taxi Driver and King of Comedy, but lacks in depth, tension and substance.
Shallow entertainment with a slightly better second half, but overall disappointing!
Tatort: Angriff auf Wache 08 (2019)
Redundant Rip-off
This tv movie is a waste of time. It's full of logic errors. These might be deliberate, but it's not even remotely funny. Instead it's ludicrous at best. There are short moments of tension in the beginning and the acting is decent, therefore two stars.
Skip this one.
The Farm (2018)
Is this a vegan movie?
Take a look at the posters in the photo gallery and you basically get the whole story of this flick. I guess anybody knows that the meat industry is abominable in terms of animal welfare and this movie tries to show this horror by putting humans in place of animals. Sadly it doesn't succeed. No twists or surprises, barely any tension, bad acting, massive plot holes.
At least Egor Povolotskiy shows his talent with some smart camera work in the beginning of the movie, but later reveals sloppiness with inordinately blurred backgrounds.
Furthermore Sergei Stern deserves mention for his well-made score.
Nevertheless a forgettable movie altogether.
