The Getaway (1972)
don't do the crime unless you can do the time!
Along with "Straight Time" "House of Glass" and only a few other films in
memory, have I seen a film that in just a few short scenes gives one a
real
taste of what it's like to live inside a cage; no privacy, no human
connection, no control over anything in your life. The writing and
direction make this a unique movie - depressing in the extreme but with a
ray of hope at the end.

A Murder of Crows (1998)
HOW CAN YOU BELIEVE IN A SYSTEM WHERE THE STRONG ALWAYS PREY ON THE WEAK?
"How can you believe in a system where the strong always prey on the weak?" -- this excellent film focuses on that question as it follows the spiritual fall of a previously honest lawyer who succumbs to temptation to pass off a brilliant novel as his own. Cuba Gooding is wonderful as the lawyer and the plot is brilliant. Moral questions abound in this film, and the suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The Verdict (1982)
"THE COURTS DON'T GIVE YOU JUSTICE; THEY JUST GIVE YOU A CHANCE AT JUSTICE"
Paul Newman makes a statement that sums up the idea of this movie, when he tells Charlotte Ramhling "The courts don't give you justice -- they just give you a chance at justice" -- that chance appears to be in direct relationship to how much money you have.. one brilliant scene shows the stark difference between the 2-man plaintiff counsel and the "Prince of Darkness" (James Mason) and his huge entourage of defense attorneys. This film reportedly made quite a stir when it was released, from legal circles as well as from the Catholic Church. A wonderful film about how justice works in our system today.
Drop Zone (1994)
One of the best action pictures of all time
"The Drop Zone" reminds one of Kathyrn Bigelow's great action film "Break Point" -- fantastic action, wonderful aerial shots and a solid story line. Drop Zone, from the first 10 minutes, leaves you breathless, and the aerial photography and stunts can't be beat!
Mi vida loca (1993)
A unique look at the inner structure of L.A. gangs
"Mi Vida Loca" is a film showing what it's like to grow up in a gang; but its uniqueness is that the story is told from the female viewpoint ~ what it is like to grow up as a homegirl is very different from what it is like to belong to a gang as a male.
A Man for All Seasons (1966)
THIS FILM HAS POSSIBLY THE MOST BRILLIANT SCRIPT AND WONDERFUL DIALOGUE EVER WRITTEN!
"A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS" Is a wonderful film ~ It possibly has the most brilliant script and dialogue ever written for film ~ and I can think of almost no other actor than Paul Scofield doing justice to this dialogue ~ it reminds me of a quote years ago from Richard Burton - He said (words to the effect) that the only actor who intimidated him was Paul Scofield...
