Meet Me in St. Louis (1944)
Cute movie
I recently checked out this gem from the library mostly because it was one musical I had yet to see. Im glad I checked it out. I enjoyed it over all. Very cute and I loved the songs, especially the song the movie was named for, the trolley song and the boy next door. ^_^
I am such a musical freak, and may eventually add it to my DVD collection too. I recently saw Singin' in the Rain too, and I enjoyed
it too. Everyone in this movie was great! And Judy's voice in this film was really top notch and just fun to hear. So if you love musicals, go and see this one! Anyone who loves old movies and/or loves to escape into a good movie should also check this one out! It's great fun. ^_^
The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962)
Its a bad movie sure, but you know...
I think its telling us how women were treated as mens objects to do with as he pleases. That sort of thing. All the women in this movie are minipulated. From the dude's girlfriend to the dancer/model he drugs and wants to decapitate! I could be wrong here, but thats what i think...but also its also sort of has this thing telling us how men want to play god and all that BS that was played upon in Frankenstien. Makes me sort of wonder if Ira Levine was inspired somewhat by this movie for his novel The Stepford Wives (as well as for the movie obviously too, as far as men controling women is concerend) All in all, great sci-fi schlock!
5/10
Go (1999)
The Lighter Alternative to "Pulp Fiction"
This is a great movie! I liked how it was completely unpredictable. I loved how it was very funny! There's no denying how much it's like "Pulp Fiction" but I didn't like "Pulp Fiction." It had it's moments...but it wasn't something I wanna see again...(maybe once...and it might get me to see the rest of Fight Club too) Still I liked how this movie was a lighter version of PF. So email me with flames if you'll sleep better at night...then so be it...I just really liked this movie!
UPDATE: I gave Pulp Fiction a second chance and really love it now. I even bought the 2-disc edition and everything!
The Dead Zone (2002)
Cool new series based off of a Stephen King novel...
...Granted I never read the novel nor did I see the original movie...well I saw a bit of it...still, I think this new show, shows promise for a great series. Pretty decent acting. Anthony Micheal Hall is realistic as someone who's been in a coma for 6 years. OK I'm basing this off of one episode, but still, I liked this show! I can't wait to see what happens next!
Update: Now in its fourth season, the show has resorted to stand alone episodes. How this will affect the rest of the series and its main story plot with Stilson, remains unseen at the moment. I believe it has enough in it to last one more season if this is not the end of the show of course.
Cape Fear (1991)
WOW! Who knew?! A remake better than the original!
I had the great pleasure of seeing the original this year. I thought it was a great thriller. And then the past weekend I saw the Scorcese remake. Prior to seeing it, I hadn't known it was directed for him, and had never seen a movie done by him. I wasn't too sure I was gonna like it cuz for one I usually hate remakes. But I really enjoyed this remake. I also liked that it didn't seem to have the same dialouge as some remakes do.
I liked the additions Scorcese made not seen in the original. Like the relationship between Cady and Daniele. It was eerie and at the same time, it worked for the story. I mean we're dealing with a psychopath and will stop at nothing to creep out this family. I also liked how this version was scarier. LOL Not only that near the end of the movie it got more and more so.
I loved the references to Hitchcock, pretty cool. As well as the cinematography. All those intense close ups, worked nicely for this chilling movie. I recomend this movie because of great acting in part from De Niro--who by the way I never really got why people think he's so great...till now I can totally see it! He was a bit over the top but it worked for his psychotic character--and as well as great cinematography.
I give it a 10/10 stars
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
More Like Attack of the Jedi!!! LOL
WOW....totally blown away by this sequel in the prequel trilogy to the best sci-fi saga...:D (Some spoilers...just some...)
The special effects were awesome...the big battle at the end would have to be the most kick-a** battle ever done on film and Star Wars movies in general! Seing Yoda kick some butt was something I was really looking forward to....it's amazing!!! And it was just as cool to see ALL the Jedi in action! MY GAWD!
Can't wait to see Episode III.
I'd like to see the version the critics saw...they hated it...calling it dull...saying the acting and dialouge was awful....I think Lucas gives them a version we wouldn't wanna see...LOL He gives us, the fans, the better cut! I just can't see how they can call this movie dull! Not a dull moment in this movie...EVER! Come on!
Natalie Portman was definately hott in this movie compared to TPM...lol Still...WAY COOL!
It was all well worth the wait...Im sure Episode III will be great too! ....and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!
American Pie 2 (2001)
A second serving! YAY!
I totally enjoyed this one a bit more than I enjoyed the first one. It could be that there were more sight gags than in the first one...It could be that everyone was back, it just wouldn't have worked with everyone from the first movie!
Well what ever the reason, I thought it was funny. The dialouge, the storyline, everything. There's just too many to say...I was lucky enough to rent the DVD. It has a gag real, it has deleted scenes a couple I thought they could've added in, and the screen tests for the FIRST AP movie. So if it's possible for ya, go rent the DVD! LoL I was just a little disapointed that Jim's dad didn't have a bigger part in the movie this time around...oh well...
American Pie (1999)
Did I say I hated this movie?...My bad...lol
I had dissed this movie ever since I saw previews for it. It looked like a dumb movie to me for some reason. I finally saw it on TV like last month or 2 months ago. Then I rented it last month, (LOL) and loved it more than when I saw it on TV. I was laughing my a** off the entire time!
I really liked the scenes with Jim and his dad and their conversations and how embarasing it is to talk about sex with your father like that... I also enjoyed the sequel!...
Rush Hour 2 (2001)
People liked this movie, why exactly?...
This movie is totally unfunny....recycled jokes from the first one.....the fight scenes weren't that great....um...the story had too many twists...um...too many stereo typical jokes I don't think there were as many in the first one...I liked the first one...I liked it more than I thought I would. I don't get how NE one found this movie funny.....or better yet (possibly worse bet) people think it's BETTER than the first one!
Well you can either listen to me and avoid it, and go out and see the first one...or u can see it for your self and you be the judge.
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
What a beautifully done movie!
I rented it on DVD (First time seeing it by the way) I was totally blown away!
This is such a great movie! Some of it is a little bizare, but past all that weird stuff, it's a great musical! Nicole Kidman did a great job, and OMG she can sing! Everyone performed well. From Ewan to John. They were all superb. I loved the musical numbers....and above all I loved the love story.
I saw a bit of myself in Christian. I too am a little obsessesed with love. And Im also a writer of sorts...at least I'd like to be. I just haven't found the right inspiration to make a great story.
I really loved it's message: The most important thing you'll ever know is to love and be loved in return...I think i paraphrased it...but I love that line in the movie...:)
I wanna go out and see Strictly Ballroom now....I've seen Romeo and Juliet and liked it...so then I can wait and buy the whole Red Curtain Trilogy on DVD :D
Slumber Party Massacre III (1990)
Girls, Drills, Thrills, spills and FUN!
This one is a lot better than the first one....it may not be up there with the greats, but it's worth seeing if ya wanna see girls running around in their bras and getting drilled to death! There should've been a special award given to this movie: Best Usage of a Drill! I haven't seen the 2nd one in the series...I plan to sometime...
