The Idol (2023)
They wasted an opportunity
I wanted to wait until the end of the show to express my opinion, but after the fourth episode I decided it's just a wasted opportunity.
The show is filled with many unnecessary things: too much naked, perverse sex scenes, violence, tortures. There are only few details making me understand the potential the show had in the beginning.
Dear HBO, what we wanted was a pop show about the REAL struggles of a young girl in the music industry. Not this. This is something else. Now I am waiting for the final episode hoping to finally understand the purpose of all of this.
However, great performance by Lily-Rose Depp, she is amazing. Good music but I expected more on that too.
Sad about The Weeknd: I love his music, I hate him in this show. Please more The Weeknd and less Abel, thank you.
Glass Onion (2022)
Predictable but still shocking
The crime itself was quite predictable, I was expecting some kind of trick from all the clues we got so early. During Blanc's speech I was afraid it could have ended that way. And actually the case ends that way. Then surprise: THAT ending. I was not expecting that at all! I was completely shocked, surprised and amazed.
Overall, it's a 7/10 - entertaining, fun, details are very well curated during all the movie. Maybe it was too much entertainment and less crime story. I wish we had single characters' interviews as seen in the first movie.
Praise Janelle Monáe great performance, loved Hugh Grant appearance!
WandaVision (2021)
The one where feelings show up
I've started the MCU saga 2 months ago and I'm watching the contents in the order of release. Feelings and emotions are not really the main topic of this kind of movies/series, and I'm ok with that.
WandaVision, however, does something different: that's the one missing in the MCU.
The first 3 or 4 episodes might be confusing, but as soon as you get what is possibly going on, empathising with Wanda is easy.
The last 2 episodes were amazing, I felt all her feelings as they were mine (Elisabeth Olsen was great). I hope I'll find more contents in the MCU like this one.
9/10 totally deserved!
Wish Dragon (2021)
Its beauty is in the details. That's real China!
I loved this movie! Everything is so real!
If you've ever been to China and Shanghai you can see that city, those people, that food... even the ads were the copy of real ones! I think Din is actually wearing Feiyue (a popular shoes' brand in China).
Plus, the story is amazing. For me, it's not a copy of Aladdin. It has some important lessons to teach about the inequalities among rich people and poor people. It shows the importance of friendship and family. It's the picture of modern China but has something to tell to Western countries too.
Needs to be seen: 10/10!
