Die Wand (2012)
Raw Study of Life Woth Watching!
I had no idea what to expect from this movie even as the plot unfolded early on, and then I realized that this is a PROFOUND film about the deep dive of introspection. As I watched, I found myself cut to the core by the raw beauty of love and life accompanied by the ongoing tragedies of life and death of both human and animal life. The "line" between animal and human life becomes so beautifully invisible as they all find their perfect routines in an Austrian world subject to the Wheel of Time.
I was surprised by both the film's address to the question as to whether we really need other humans to fully content, and also my reaction to it. The issues addressed in this film are so raw, and if you are not affected by it, then you are a psychopath.
Unseen (2023)
Unique idea with a Ted Bundy lookalike
The gauche lime green aura of the GATORS GALORE quick stop caught my attention, and then the Tiger King wardrobed station owner, with his malignant narcissistic treatment of Sam, a Floridian female with little hope of advancement in this particular retail position, clenched it. JUST when I thought that there could be no more perks, the psychotic ex-boyfriend shows up ... and he looks like a young Ted Bundy.
Both female leads portray their characters wonderfully, but Emily's status as a doctor really conflicts with her insidious ditziness. The third female (narcissistic blond customer) completes a trifecta of malignant narcissists with her entitlement, gold handgun, 24k phone case, and 24k b@#$& attitude.
The ditziness of the characters is really the only thing that holds me back from rating it 10 stars. Unfortunately, it gets in the way on 2 occasions. I leave it to you to discover them. Otherwise, I was truly entertained by UNSEEN.
Cold Skin (2017)
Excellent surprise
I discovered this jewel while searching for horror movies. When I saw that Ray Stevenson is in it, I HAD to watch. I love the illustrations in the journal left behind the previous weather officer. The sea creatures are designed beautifully, and the acting is wonderful. Certain social issues are prevalent in the story, and the younger man brings a more enlightened way of humanity to the island.
