The Gray Man (2022)
Fun night on the couch with this popcorn movie
Was it the best? No, Was it entertaining? Yeah for sure. Chris evans plays the villain really well. Ryan gosling plays things understated. Anna de Armas is good as well - def an action star in the making. The first 20-30 min is rough but once the story gets going just sit back and enjoy.
Severance (2022)
Best show since watchmen
Excellent show that is unique and engaging. Yes a little slow in the first episode but it gets its hooks into you quickly. Excellent acting, directing and writing. Everything is just chefs kiss.
The Witcher (2019)
Season two feels like a step backwards
The scope is season one was huge. Season two seems to basically be a lot of talking and not a lot of action. Hard to follow and in the end not very satisfying. Hope season 3 is better.
Foundation (2021)
Slow burn science fiction
Great movie level visuals and interesting storyline kept me watching. Definitely worth it for science fiction fans. I have not read the books so I can't speak to how accurate they are, but taken on its own, it is interesting and thought provoking.
Eternals (2021)
Surprisingly good Marvel movie with some depth
A change of pace that might not be for everyone, this movie is definitely more of a slow burn, that takes its time to create a movie that asks some deeper questions than your typical Thor movie. Nicely directed and acted, it's well worth your time to watch. I want to see more.
Q: Into the Storm (2021)
Overly long but interesting documentary
Very interesting subject matter with some very colourful characters. Scary to think that so few can influence/manipulate the world/politics so easily.
It is quite long and has a lot of filler that could be trimmed, I found myself getting lost in some of the tedious details at times, try to keep track of who did what and why is challenging at times but maybe that is a reflection of the subject matter.
And hang in there till the end they do basically reveal who Q is - I think, unless that was a deliberate slip up - you never know with these guys!
This Is a Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist (2021)
Another overly long documentary with no conclusions
Sat through this documentary and it starts off interestingly but then by the second episode you can see the padding starting to happen. Lots of unnecessary background info, dead ends and red herrings. Two episodes would have been sufficient to tell this story, especially considering that by the end there is no resolution - which is just frustrating from a viewer experience. On the positive side I'd like to visit the museum.
IMDb on the Scene - Interviews: WandaVision (2021)
Give it a chance people
So I agree it was slow to begin with and they can learn from their release schedule on this one ( maybe release 4 episodes if you are going to do this mystery thing - the public has short attentions spans), but now that we are 5 episodes in this thing is rocking it. So many marvel Easter eggs, returning characters and intriguing new characters this series is making some serious waves for the MCU. I can't wait for the next episode. Huge kudos to the creators of this show for making something different and unexpected. Give it a chance and binge the first half, it gets better - trust me.
Greenland (2020)
Above average disaster flick
More intense than most movies in this genre with some genuine edge of your seat moments ( especially in the beginning). Good action without feeling like they are just moving from set piece to set piece. It loses steam about 2/3 of the way through as it speeds towards the end, but overall satisfying movie. Yes it's got cliches but for a Sunday afternoon flick this is above average.
