All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)
One of my favorite films
What makes this film so good is that even though the film was made in the 30s, it's still quite disturbing and realistic. The characters are great and even the acting is good for its time as well. I usually don't cry at movies, but this is like the 2nd movie where I've at least teared up (the other movie being The Green Mile)
A fantastic 9.2/10 for me.
Forrest Gump (1994)
First watch through was entertaining, 2nd watch through was inspiring
Now I've seen Forrest Gump before and thought it was pretty good, but I didn't think it was Oscar worthy...at all.
Recently I decided to rewatch this masterpiece and it has now became without a doubt my favorite film of all time. I'm going to keep this short since there are plenty of reviews already, but this is the most clever, heartbreaking, and moving films you will ever watch, with a hint of comedy. At the end of the movie I was trying to think of a single flaw but I can't seem to find one. To the people who rated this 3 stars and below,
You all are probably like 7 years old, and were probably looking for another generic action movie. Well I'm sorry that this movie is actually good.
Devilman: Crybaby (2018)
Crybaby has ONE Redeeming Factor
The premise of this show is cool, a good demon fighting other demons, but the execution was horrible.
Whenever the show gets boring they either throw in a sex scene or gore, or sexual gore. Honestly this show was directed by a madman or something.
I've watched 3 other Devilman shows. The 70s one, 80s one, and the 90s OVA. Although those are gory, it's gore with a purpose. In this show it's thrown in for shock factor. The 90s OVA had emotion, but this? Cheap, lazy garbage. What I will give it credit for, is the music.
The music is absolutely phenomenal. I'm a fan of synthwave and retrowave music myself, and that's exactly what this show has. I even sometimes listen to it when driving to work or driving at night. So in other words, the music is better than the show. (Of course this show's soundtrack is nothing compared to actual synthwave music, but it's still good)
If this show didn't have a good soundtrack it would have been a 1/10, but the ost bumps it up to a 2/10. I say skip this one and watch the 70s show and the 80s show instead.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Legitimately Good
So I've been a huge Transformers fan since 1984, and in 2007 when Michael Bay released his reboot, I didn't know how it would turn out. I didn't want him to copy the original. So he went his own route and it ended up being actually pretty good.
Until RotF, we do not talk about RotF.
With DotM, I pleasantly surprised. The characters were good, action was of course fantastic, the story was great, and it even has a plot twist.
Definitely up their with the best Transformers films.
Tenet (2020)
I like using my brain, but...
Throughout Christofer Nolan's movie-directing career, he has never directed a single bad movie. Now I'm not saying Tenet was bad, but it was his worst film.
Tenet has a very interesting storyline, probably Christofer Nolan's most creative storyline in my opinion. Notice I didn't say "best". The only issue with the inverted gimmick, is that it can lead to a lot, and I mean a lot of plot holes. Actually, some of the plot holes don't even have anything to do with the story. And you'll never guess what the plot hole is.
We don't know what the main characters name is. When I was watching the film with my friends, we literally just called him "the black dude". And this is even more important, because in the future, he created the inverted objects.
Christofer Nolan's worst film, Tenet, is good.
Grindstone (2019)
Best Puzzle Game
Honestly I have never been a fan of puzzle games, probably because BotW shrines messed me up. But Grindstone is actually a really fun game. With its fantastic music by Sam Webster to all of the challenges you can do, you can never get bored. My only issues are that I wish the boss fights had a little more variety. But other than that, this game is great!
The Transformers: The Movie (1986)
The Best Movie Ever Created
Fantastic animation, script, and a darker tone, although it might have been a BIT too dark. Especially an entire planet being wiped out and watching the last of that planets kind get killed by being thrown into a pit to be feasted on.
Anyways...
When the movie ended we were all just sitting there, frozen. And that's how you know, it was an awesome movie.
If I had put in any more details, I would have been getting into spoiler territory. 10/10.
Kaubôi bibappu: Cowboy Bebop: Bohemian Rhapsody (1998)
Very Emotional
Even though he was only in a single episode, you really feel sympathy for the old man. He spends most of his life playing chess and waiting for someone to give him a challenge. Another fantastic filler episode. 9.0/10.
Kaubôi bibappu: Cowboy Bebop: Mushroom Samba (1999)
I can't believe I'm saying this, but...
...this is one of the best episodes in the entire series. Probably coming at number 5. It's hilarious, weird, and the payoff is incredible at the end. The first time I watched this episode was with my friends, and we were all laughing our -sses off. 8.9/10.
Super Mario Bros. (1993)
Cyberpunk+Mario=...a Very Bizarre Movie.
Well that was a movie. Sure, it wasn't even close to the video games, but it did have something going for it.
Pros: A great cyberpunk atmosphere, great special effects, fantastic r e p l a y value, and lots of hidden easter eggs.
Cons: Might as well not even call it a Mario movie, post-credit scene sets up a sequel, but it just ends up being a web-comic, and...never got a video game.
I would've enjoyed a video game movie video game, but I digress.
Sallie Gardner at a Gallop (1878)
The Horse in Motion/ Sallie Gardener at Gallop
(Major plot twist spoilers)
Being the first movie ever made, you know it's probably going to turn out to be a slow-movie movie.
Well actually it isn't. The movie fast paced, and it's straight to the point.
The movie takes place in 1878, with our main character, Domm. Domm is a horse jockey who enters a horse race with his horse being named "Sallie Gardener". When the movie begins, it's pretty much a racing movie. This is very similar to "Steel Ball Run" in that it has a very long horse racing scene.
But the real plot twist is when Sallie Gardener breaks the speed of light, and then the movie repeats itself. It starts all over again.
This movie for me has got to be a 7.1. And that's pretty good for being the first movie ever made.
Hunter x Hunter: Homecoming × and × Real Name (2014)
One of the Best Episodes in Hunter x Hunter
This episode makes me cry every time. Won't get in to spoilers, but I will say that I totally forgot about a certain character early on, up until this episode.
Redi x Bato! (2010)
Phenomenal, Fantastic, and Fanservice.
I honestly wasn't expecting the show to be this good, but now here I am. To get straight to the point, Ladies versus Butlers has great characters and a great sense of humor. And some boobs sprinkled on there occasionally. But I really do wish it was longer, as it only has 12 episodes. I binged the show in about 3 days. If it was longer, than I would give it a higher rating. But I can't make it loo low, because Gurann Lagann was great, too. So Ladies versus Butlers gets an 8.9/10 for me. Flameheart's hair looks more like croissants than drills, but whatever.
Farscape (1999)
Best Sci-Fi Show I've Ever Seen
I watched this show right after I finished watching Star Trek: The Next Generation, which was a fantastic show. But I didn't think there could be a show better.
Farscape has great characters, great episodes and storylines, and a fantastic villain. But the show really picks up the pace by season 2 and onward, as they introduce Scorpius, Stark, and other side characters.
Definitely give this a watch if your a sci-fi fan, and definitely give this watch if your...not a sci-fi fan, too.
1943: Midway Kaisen (1987)
One of the best games ever made.
Now, I really do feel nostalgia for this game, as I played both the NES version, and the arcade version as a kid. But that's not even the biggest reason on why this game is fantastic. For an old shootem' up game, it has a very very catchy soundtrack. Lots of different power-ups you can use, and with the NES version, you can even customize your planes stats and upgrade them. The bosses are also very extreme, so extreme, it's just hilarious. Also, sure. They didn't have lasers in 1943. I actually used to joke about it. But it's honestly what makes this game stand apart from any others. Unfortunately, many, many games have copies off of this game, and it's predecessor (1942). But in my opinion, 1943: Battle of Midway, is the NES game, and one of the best arcade games you can find.
