Prey for the Devil (2022)
Very Disappointing
With all the marketing of the film, It was nowhere near as good as expected. It's arguably the worst horror film of the year competing with Halloween. There is next to no build up to the initial "jump scares" and without any tension building up, they aren't scary.
The storyline could have been interesting but again, it jumps all over the place therefore leaves you a bit confused about the relationship of all the characters, they could have been made more clear.
The characters lacked any sort of back story or personality therefore you aren't able to feel anything for the characters, the little backstory that the protagonist has is also very skewed and hard to grasp.
In terms of all the supposed "scary/jump" scenes, they're all extremely predictable and have been done in every previous exorcism movie, there was nothing new or exciting.
I could go on for a lot longer, but with all the other reviews I think you can understand the point that this isn't a great movie. I'd probably watch it on a streaming website for free if I had ran out of films to watch, but definitely not cinema worthy as I learnt.
Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995)
Unexpected Gem
I was expecting a typical mob/crime action, an easy watch in the background but this was much more! I was surprised by the low ratings considering the star cast, but I genuinely don't know where those ratings came from. The story line is different and refreshing in comparison to other films of this kind and the casting was excellent. There's no other mafia film I can compare this to and that's in a good way! It's not your typical kill then revenge type of film, there's a lot more emotion to it. The ending was a little strange, but it's a great underrated film! For example if millers crossing is a 7.7 rating on IMDb, this is a 7.9 easily...
Villain (2020)
Had great potential but ending ruined it
Throughout the whole film I was pretty impressed as this genuinely had a lot more substance than most typical British crime films. I genuinely was very drawn, right until the end I could easily have rated this a 7.5 which is very high in my opinion for a film of this genre. Unfortunately, then came the ending... was so cliche and predictable unlike the rest of the film, we called it before the last few minutes and we where right... I can't emphasize how disappointed I was as there where so many potential endings which would've been much for fitting. Probably still is worth a watch, as long as you can deal with a extremely bad ending, maybe just pause the film 10 mins before the ending....
Lupt (2018)
Poor film, No real story line.
I thought I'd give this a try as the plot description seemed interesting. How wrong was I. Massive waste of time, there is so real story with any explanation, there is no reasoning for this "ghost". Things just happen for no reason and nothing adds up in the whole film, it also has copied lots of parts of other Hollywood films. Generally the story just lacks any actual cohesion and doesn't make any sense. Avoid it. This could have been a decent film if they had actually showed more expiation for everything happening and a better build up, however they leave all the explanation till the very end of the film, until then everyone has already lost their interest in the movie.
The Super (2017)
Waste of time, stupid and pointless plot
One of the worst films I've seen, the plot and storyline is literally pointless. A lot of lines are clearly dubbed over. Massive waste of time, at first does seem promising but then it just all goes downhill and towards the end it was just painful to watch.
