Babs and Buster, totally related?
28 September 2023
I'm sorry. Babs and Buster have never been related. They were romantic interests all throughout the 90s. They stated "no relation" as a catchphrase. Minnie and Mickey are both Mouse, but they're not related. It would be crazy for a reboot to occur and suddenly they're cousins. That's basically what they did here. It kills the nostalgia. Saved by the Bell did a college series too. Can you imagine if Zack and Kelly were suddenly fraternal twins? Sorry but it's a hard pass for me. I haven't watched but I'm assuming they also took away all of Bab's flirtatious personality. Why aren't cartoons allowed to be fun anymore?

It's not 100% candy
28 July 2022
It's an interesting show but right away she explains that everything you see is edible candy. So right away I'm like that's an interesting concept. But they build it all on a base. And the base isn't candy. So I'm picturing picking candy off of foam or wood and eating it and that seems not so tasty. Then again it's practical. I mean it makes sense that it would not be 100% edible stuff. It's edible stuff in non-edible stuff... But I couldn't help but feel disappointed.

Real Life as Teen Drama
4 May 2022
I just finished the series and I was sure I didn't like it after just a few episodes. This story is based on real events. I have concerns about the ethical lines in the made for tv approach that paints the story like a teenage drama, much like 13 reasons why. The relationship between Michelle and Conrad is so romanticized. They both come off as sophisticated and flirty and in a way they seem good for one another. They even go as far as painting a picture of what if there was a future where they met later and life and were in love all over again. I can't imagine who wrote this about such a toxic relationship. These were two less than healthy people who brought out the worst in each other in reality. They fed off of each other's need for attention and Michelle used the drama in her relationship to meet her needs for attention seeking and self importance. It wasn't a charming romance it was a toxic one, and they failed to depict that truth at all in the show.

Let me continued by saying that even with the ethical questions aside the show is just bad. The writing is bad. The transitions between the texting where it seems like they're in person vs when they were actually in person and what that timeline was was insanely confusing. I watched the whole thing and I cannot tell how long the relationship was or how often they actually saw each other. Michelle also had one to many personalities, the show had too many episodes based in pure fantasy. The context was frequently confusing and hard to follow. Also the show just had too many episodes period. Slow, confusing, too romanticized, dry acting, and probably extremely disrespectful to the true content and reality of what happened. I cannot image how Conrad's parents would feel watching this done in such a cute carefree manner. I hope for their sake they never watch it.

I had a hard time watching this
17 November 2021
Ok, first off I have no intention of writing off the serious and truly heartbreaking story being told here. I found the pace to be painfully slow and it is hard for me to understand the story that they are trying to tell. With that being said there are a lot of television from across the pond that I find oddly paced. It may be a cultural perception. Long empty moments of silence or awkward long speeches with melancholy tones make the whole production feel dry and the ongoing discussions about the children's desire to make it in the music industry confused me at first as I couldn't link in my mind why music was being talked about in the suicide story.

So while I completely think the people are telling a really important story and that events were tragic and in their own ways compelling, as an observer to something that's streaming (and forgive me for my stark honesty) I found it extremely dry, boring, and hard to connect to. There are lots of important boring things and perhaps this is worthy of a watch. But, don't expect to be entertained... After all suicide is not something that should be entertaining.

Drew me in
2 November 2021
I often write reviews because I'm frustrated that something was awful. But I finished the final episode and sat in silence for about 20 minutes just absorbing the many ways this mini series drew me in. In the end it's like I took the whole journey with her, living in her head with her, worried when she was worried. Happy when she was happy. It's all the little notes that let you into her imagination that are so very effective. Before you know it you're living on pace with the story. I just had to watch the next episode every time just because I wanted to see things get better for this single mother and her little girl.

I like that they don't show the boyfriend as a one dimensional bad guy. I could see how he would be easy to fall in love with. He's a nice guy with bad habits, and it really gave some insight on how women get caught up in going back to the guy who is unhealthy for them. There are moments when he's solidly there for her, and he seems like a good dad. But, the bad habits are not the actual problem, and I think the show did a really good job at showcasing the dynamics of an abuser who isn't throwing punches. Anyway I would recommend the series to anyone. It has a great sense of humor and really makes you think.

Win for what?
30 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ok so I watched the whole thing. The premise is pretty much that we should expect any kind of twist at any time because there can always be a surprise around the corner. In the end, after watching it I feel kinda lost. In the end the game is completely without strategy and it ends up being a fairly straightforward popularity contest. Unfortunately I found the popular group to be relentlessly antagonistic and unlikeable. In the end I felt a bit cheated as a viewer. After all we spend the most time watching those who are not eliminated, building an interest in them. Their fate is left in the hands of some who we barely even saw at all. Not to mention, if there really was a prize at the end why did they arbitrarily remove three people for seemingly no reason at all. It's almost as if they fixed the entire game on a daily by bases. Personally the first guy they sent home seemed like a great contestant.

Again I watched the whole thing and I was both confused by the entire concept and angry at the way they chose the winner. And I didn't like Nicole. She was mean to everyone outside of her LGBTQ circle. She was even mean to Ivan who was absolutely loyal in keeping her from being voted off. She also knew everything was being recorded but that didn't stop her from going out of her way to humiliate people who weren't in on the secret. The absolutely kindest individual was Laura and possibly Fawa who are barely paid attention to in the series.

Anyway I didn't enjoy this one and wouldn't feel any lose if Netflix doesn't do another season of it. I don't think I'd watch if they did.

Cheer Camp Killer (2020 TV Movie)

Title is misleading
25 October 2021
I expected a bit more violence with a name like Cheer Camp Killer. For a lower budget film, it wasn't bad but this wasn't a thriller. It's a mean girls drama. There's nothing remotely thriller or violent about the whole film. I thought the acting was good for the genre (which is not thriller). It just wasn't what I was expecting. There's not so much as a nose bleed in the entire film.

In Plain Sight: The Cheating Killer (2018)

No research on the air force at all.
11 July 2021
The show says the husband of the deceased is a master sgt, and his friend who is brought in for questioning is said to be a sergeant, but both offices on the show wear the rank of Airman 1st class, which is a fairly green rank. They also meet with a "drill instructor" which is NOT an Air Force job. We have Training Instructions, which are called TIs. She's also wearing a dress uniform... Which isn't what any drill instructor wears most days of the week. The show also refers the the SWAPS test as a test that flight officers have to take for promotion. Enlisted members of the Air Force are not officers, and are not called flight officers.

The significance may be lost to civilians but Master Sergeant is a NCO. It is a high ranking enlisted position which comes with a certain level of respect and trust. A Master Sergeant has made a career of service. Most have over a decade of service. To compare, an enlisted person who took JR ROTC in highschool can receive Airman 1st Class right out of basic.

These glaring oversights shows an extremely lacking attention to detail. Maybe they don't have a big enough budget to get accurate uniforms, but not even knowing what Air Force members are referred to (AIRMEN) just shows how little they care about the details of the story.

Concept too Hard to Swallow
5 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really had a hard time with the movie. It went so far against any logical idea of how something of this nature would play out. This isn't a science fiction movie... I think it's closer to science fantasy because it requires an intelligent audience to swallow way too much.

1. Considering how important having bodies for the war was the future put no effort in preserving their numbers, and didn't make any choices based on the need for ANYONE to survive.

2. Their weapons seemed so useless they could have benefited more from weapons or war tactics than untrained civilians.

3. The one of the largest explosion in the movie is used on ice and not to kill anything. They even raid the hive to capture one but don't bother planting any explosions to damage and he hive.(fun fact, a naval ship, a drone, or a submarine could have launched an attack on the hive without being anywhere near it right now is 2021). Despite what the scientist discovered I'd bet the best way to kill a queen would have been to blow the hives up, but no one suggests that.

4. When the scientist returns to his time with a weapon that can kill all the alien bugs literally no one cares.

5. A world that cooperates to send most of humanity to their death cannot cooperate to send a team of people to the present that may solve the problem because it could cause an international incident.

6. Wouldn't it have made more sense for the future people to travel to the past to fight the alien bugs before they were a problem? I mean imagine if they all traveled on the Sabbath to 2022( I think it was 2022 in the movie, I don't remember) and stayed looking and researching until they found the aliens... Wouldn't that have been a better idea?? I mean the Terminators are a bit more clever in their problem solving skills.

In the end it's just too much to swallow. This futuristic war takes war entirely back in time to a time where all war is fought with under-armed unprepared ground troops. All this out of a future that managed time travel. No one uses straight ground troops anymore. War is fought by air strikes, then ground troops and drone strikes are becoming more and more common. For this concept to work at the very least the war part would need to make sense. After all the name of the movie is The Tomorrow War. Even if you just accept everything they're serving to you just to try to enjoy it for what it is, there are some odd decisions. The whole interaction where the daughter is mad at her father because he in the future would leave her mother seemed like a very strange waste of time. I would think most real people if they were in that situation would understand they could keep that from ever happening. Her whole speech is given in a way as if it couldn't be undone. And she was more upset over the divorce than his death, and she didn't seem excited to see him alive again if only for seven days. How weird is that? .... The actors weren't bad... The movie was.

Why Women Kill (2019–2021)
3/10
Who killed the plot?
9 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Why women kill started off strong and interesting. I found myself watching to try to predict who was going to kill who. However after finally watching the end of the season I found it to be completely unsatisfying.

It reminds me of American Horror story in that it starts off with this amazing concept that leaves you interested, then muddies the waters, especially by adding in social issues that take over the whole focus, not that I'm against social statements but I was expecting something more gritty from a story of murder.

In the end there is no tragedy. It's a story of murder and death with a happy ending. I find that to be both unsettling and bizarre. Death should disturb us on some emotional level and these deaths came off as satisfying. Not a single one raised an eye brow. I feel it misses the point and a great opportunity. I also don't think murder should be a happy thing discussed over coffee. This dog has no teeth, and this climax lacks a punch. It also has no real consequences for death. It's all just so joyful..

Not what I was expecting.. kinda disappointed
23 November 2020
I only watched this on Hulu. So I'm sure it was out before I ever heard of it. With that being said, when I saw a gingerbread bake off I was excited to see beautiful gingerbread houses, and to get into the Christmas spirit. Instead, it is more like EVERY OTHER BAKING SHOW. Where the focus seems to be on big elaborate massive structures that are COOL! but completely lack the spirit of Christmas in their pursuit to be cool. I really wanted this show to be able beautiful Christmas gingerbread houses, filled with creativity that I could perhaps incorporate at home when I make one of my own to display over the holidays, but many of the things job see aren't even houses. Christmas themes are largely ignored and the judges barely seem to notice. I find the whole show LARGELY lacking in gingerbread houses.

Also, am I the only one who is getting tired of reality shows that are suppose to be about something beautifully crafted using the clock as an adversary? I would LOVE to see a show that gives ample time to complete a project so I, as the viewer, would get the benefit of seeing beautiful work. 2 hours to craft these massive structures with a surprise thing to bake, barely seems like enough and almost all the contestants struggle with making everything planned in the time allotted. As a result the work is lackluster. Things are left unfinished and cracked, or broken. Items are left off the build because they ran out of time. This adds to the disappointment for me. As a viewer I do want to see interesting things. It does not contribute to my experience to see so many muddled plans. The visuals suffer because of this and that is disappointing. My overall opinion was it wasn't very good.
