Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
One of the best prequels in recent memory!!
This movie kicks ass from start to finish! It's one of the best prequels in recent memory. The pacing is great and the action scenes are done so well. The cinematography is amazing and it's so visually appealing like the first film. The storyline is great and in my opinion better than its predecessor. Anya Taylor-Joy nails her role as Furiosa and Chris Hemsworth is wonderfully menacing as Dementus. I didn't see the first one in theaters but this one was awesome on the big screen with all the sound effects and visuals!! If you enjoyed the first film you will almost certainly love this prequel!!
The Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024)
Great Start To The Trilogy!!
I loved the first two installments of The Strangers film series so I was very excited when they announced they were bringing it back for a new trilogy. Madelaine Petsch was a great scream queen in Riverdale so I was happy she was cast for the lead role in this film, which also kind of had a similar feel to Riverdale. Please don't listen to any negative reviews, this is a solid horror flick. The first movie in this trilogy mirrors a lot of similarities to the first The Strangers film, which I thought would be the case but it doesn't take away any enjoyment from the film. I'm most looking forward to the 2nd and 3rd ones coming out because now we don't know what will happen and I'm excited to see what original ideas they bring to this underrated film series!
Mother of the Bride (2024)
Cute Rom-Com
Mother of the Bride is a solid romantic comedy if you love movies in that genre, like me. I wanted to watch this because of Miranda Cosgrove, I loved her in Drake & Josh and iCarly growing up and have always been a big fan of her. She nailed her role as usual. Brooke Shields played the clumsy and awkward mom role very well. Overall, it was a solid all around cast. I thought it was a little silly that Miranda's character didn't even tell her mom she was dating anyone and then drops the big Marriage bomb on her. Also, at the very end when Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt's characters get together I thought they could've added more there. They get together and then the movie sort of ends abruptly. They could've added another scene of them getting married there too or fast forwarded to it in the future. Other than that I wouldn't change anything. This a good movie! I recommend it and it's family friendly if you wanna watch it with the whole fam!
Abigail (2024)
Bloody Fun Original Vampire Film!
The trailer for this movie drew me in right away when I watched it a few months ago. A group of criminals kipnap a child for ransom and it turns out she's a vampire?! Who wouldn't wanna see that film. This movie is as crazy and bloody as it appears in the trailer with some good twists along the way. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet did a great job with this one, I really like their style of filmmaking. If you liked some of their other movies like Ready Or Not and Scream 5 & 6, you'll most likely enjoy this one. Melissa Barrera and Kathryn Newton stood out in this film and did a wonderful job. RIP Angus Cloud, every movie and show I've seen of his he was great like Euphoria and Your Lucky Day, it's so tragic what happened and I wish we could've seen what his career would've looked like, he was just getting started. I recommend seeing this movie in a theatre to get the full effect. If you want a fun night at the movies, go check out this awesome bloody horror vampire flick!
Imaginary (2024)
Chauncey is not your friend
Saw Imaginary in theaters this weekend and didn't have the highest hopes considering it has a PG-13 rating but thought it looked decent and I'm usually a fan of what Blumhouse puts out. It was about what I expected. It's not some fantastic horror movie that will wow you but it's a solid film that will keep you interested and in suspense for the 1 hour 44 minute runtime. I think the reviews are a little harsh. It's definitely worth a watch once. They definitely could've did more with this film though. It takes awhile to get going. I feel they wasted Tom Payne's character. He leaves in the middle of the film and never returns. The first half of the movie mostly relies on jump scares. I don't like when horror movies get a PG-13 rating, I feel it really limits them and I believe they need an R rating to truly be great. I think this and Night Swim would've been more well received had that been the case. However, give this film a chance. It could be one of those that you could watch once a year around Halloween time.
Players (2024)
Players Looking For Love
When I first saw this movie advertised I was really excited for it to come out, especially because Tom Ellis is in it. The movie definitely did not disappoint. This film is a great, cute, & funny rom-com. Yes, like some reviews say, it is predictable but most rom-coms are and that's why you love them. The simple storyline doesn't take anything away from how good of a movie this is. I'm actually surprised it doesn't have a higher rating. It was really well cast, everyone does a wonderful job in this, and they all have great chemistry. If you love rom-coms, then you should definitely give this a watch!!
True Detective: Night Country: Part 6 (2024)
A letdown
I really did wanna like this season and was happy when Jodie Foster was cast but it fell far short of expectations. First of all, it doesn't really feel like True Detective at all during the season, it might have been better received if that title wasn't on it. I had hopes that it would finish strong after it started to pick up in the 5th episode but ultimately the finale fell flat. Ended up with more questions than answers at the end and most storylines were left open to your own interpretation which I am not a fan of personally. Was it a bad season? Eh No, I guess not. Was it a good season? No, can't say that either. It was just mediocre for me. It could've been so much better but plot was messy and dialogue not the best. However Jodie and Kali give great performances.
