The Northman (2022)
Eggers delivers yet again!
Revenge as an all-consuming force, if all you know is vengeance the opportunity to start a new life is ultimately deceiving, there is no honor in peace. Are Amleth and his newfound family really threatened by his uncle? Or is the gravity of dishonoring the promise he made to his father and the thought of not reaching Valhalla too unbearable?
I love how this movie doesn't take sides, but rather presents us with a story and lets us decide if Amleth's revenge was worth it. Adds more to the revenge genre than I think people are giving it credit for. Wholly creative and imaginative with a wide, epic scope that keeps the earlier Eggers' work authenticities alive. A brutal, psychedelic, gory blood fest that I loved every second of. A fantastical journey rooted in nihilistic, violent realism. Cannot believe focus gave the madman who made The Lighthouse $90 million to do pretty much whatever he wanted. Even if it doesn't live up to Eggers previous work for me, it's one of the best films of the past few years and a new favorite. 2022 is already a crazy year.
Everybody's Everything (2019)
Rip Lil Peep
Malick as an executive producer is so cool, a compelling documentary.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005)
Greatest animated series ever made
From the writing, to world building and animation, Avatar: The Last Airbender is exceptional. The series is relatively short, it's amazing how tightly written and how much character depth the writers and creators give each main character. The fire lord doesn't need to be a complex character, his menacing appearance is a perfect adversary for both Zuko and Aang. I love this show so much.
Breaking Bad (2008)
