Night of doom (2021)
Don't Bother
One star because, well, that's as low as you can go. A second star because of occasional good lighting. After that there is no aspect of this film that would bump it to three stars.
The plot is nonexistent. I'd say the acting is abysmal but it's hard to tell since nothing happens that requires acting ability. It's basically an hour of people taking a drug to enhance their sado-masochistic tendencies. If you like to watch people get off on torturing or being tortured, this could be the film for you.
To fill up the rest of the characters requirement, bad special effects and psychedelic effects you might have seen on Rowan & Martin's Laugh In.
Conjuring Baba (2022)
Bad on every level
I don't like reviews that include, "This is the worst movie I've ever seen." I see it too often for it to possibly be true. So I'll just say it's definitely among the worst movies I've ever seen.
I also generally don't care for one star reviews. There's usually at least one redeeming quality to warrant a second star. Maybe lighting, set design, one person who can halfway act. None of that exists here. No aspect of this movie rises above high-school film club level (at best). Not the script, not the acting, nothing. I found myself thinking, "Surely they held auditions and these were the people who made the cut?"
Don't bother unless you want to see what a real one star movie looks like.
Horror in the Forest (2023)
You've Seen It All Before
I'll give it a couple of stars because the acting wasn't the worst (but not great) and the filming wasn't the worst (but not great). The story moved extremely slowly. It seemed like they really had to work hard to stretch it out to make it a movie rather than a short film. Even at 80 minutes there were multiple scenes that could have been eliminated and not affected the story line one bit. There was nothing original in the whole film.
I also find it interesting that all the rave reviews were written in about a one week span. You definitely have to have a vested interest to consider this a great movie.
American Auto (2021)
Disappointing
How hard can it be to clone your own funny, successful sitcom? Apparently harder than I thought. Not much to laugh at. A collection of uninteresting characters. It gets one star for managing to make it on air. Add a second star because Ana Gasteyer is funny at times. Add a third star since you can make a party game out of matching up Superstore characters to their American Auto counterparts. I'll give you the first one. It's so easy since it's the same actor.
SS Marcus = AA Wesley.
Only marginally more difficult is SS Amy and SS Jonah. The other characters are slightly more difficult but they're all there.
