Foundation (2021)
Incredibly disappointing = Lack of continuity on *so* many levels
Yes - we read the Asimov trilogy 25+ years ago and it is a dark but favorable memory ... so we entered the media room at home with a fresh outlook that this would be a good-to-great sci-fi movie/series on its own merits, without pejorative attitude about "not true to the Asimov storyline"
However, this is simply a poorly constructed movie, albeit with decent graphics/visuals (the Apple $$$ show) ...
Astoundingly inept show runners who cannot piece together the simplest of key threads introduced at random in the show ... it is as if the 10+ exec producers met by committee and decided to throw each of their pet sci-fi clichés into the mix WITHOUT REGARD TO CONTINUITY, let alone any fidelity to the FOUNDATION trilogy
WE WOULD LIKE THE THREE HOURS OF OUR LIVES BACK THAT WE WASTED ON THIS TEPID SCI-FI ADVENTURE.
Das zweite Leben des Friedrich Wilhelm Georg Platow (1973)
Wonderful compassionate portrayal of Life's complications, absurdities and humanity in 1960/70 east Germany
From the initial sweep of a line of Trabbies waiting for train crossing to the daily rituals of Central European lower middle class salt of the earth workers through the 1969s mod/beatnik East German rock music scene to the political reality of communist ideology in the classroom ... this movie brings it all into focus via a wonderful tale of a man who has been made redundancy by the electrification of the East German railway
