Night Court (2023)
The original was a gem, this one needs more polish
I knew it wouldn't be the same as the original. The characters need to work on there chemistry with each other. Like anything it will take time, let's hope it comes quick.
Some of the characters are carbon copies of the originals. They need to develop their own personality. This will depend on writers and special attributes of the character.
Fielding has kept his sharp wit the others need to work on theirs.
So far the clients brought to court have held their own.
This can only get better. Viewers want to see NEW characters and original story lines.
Like most tv series writer have to provide the actors to work with and shine.
Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022)
Two hours well spent
The Grantham family and staff certainly know how to entertain an audience. Especially with the quality writer, director and producer. Lord Grantham's heirs, Carson's stiff upper lip and Violet Grantham's sharp tongue on any subject makes the time fly. They never missed a step transforming to the the big screen. I would watch it again.
1917 (2019)
Run and don't stop
Historic WWl tale that isn't tiring even though it is run, run, run and don't stop. It was never exhausting watching the dangers of delivering life and death orders. It was enjoyable from start to finish.
Absolute Power (1997)
Eastwood shows he still got it
I have always like Eastwood movies (acting and directing). Bad guy trying to do right, Eastwood; and good guy not caring if he does wrong, Beattie. Protecting family means everything. Revenge can be sweet if it everything works out right.
The Arrival (1996)
I made myself watch it (2022)
The titled was interesting and performing actors caught my eye. Maybe it was a 10 in 1996 but for 2022 it lost its shine. I knew where the story was going before each scene. Two twists I wasn't expecting.
Heat (1995)
Crime with a dash of personal emotions
A movie with Pacino and De Niro, how can you go wrong?
Both are abrasive but are sensitive in their own way.
Head to head for good and bad. Who will win out after their meeting to share their plan to win over the other. The best discussion over coffee ever recorded.
Exporting Raymond (2010)
A few chuckles. But, not a comedy.
It should have been classified as a documentary with a few laughs.
Shortly after he met the show's director and actors in Russia you knew the show was going to be a tough sell. Some humour doesn't cross culture lines. Try telling some seemingly funny jokes from Canada/USA to someone in India/Mexico/Peru and it just doesn't translate.
I would guess Russians don't insult their family members, people in authority, or argue over trivial matters. If they laugh at their version of "I Dream of Jeanie" or "The Nanny" they would get the humour of the Beverly Hillbillies or Green Acres (site gags and misunderstandings).
From what they showed of Russian humour it is from the Vaudville era.
The Grand Seduction (2013)
What will a community do to get a doctor?
A community without a doctor.
What will they do to get a doctor?
What will they do to keep a doctor?
The antics a community will do will keep you laughing. This comedy could be set only location but it is more enjoyable with accents and odd ball citizens. Sit back and enjoy without taxing your brain, it's all in fun.
Blue Miracle (2021)
Select your decisions carefully
Fantastic story, riveting to the point you won't want to miss any scenes.
All actors, young and old, bring their character to life. You will feel for them.
If you are the least bit sensitive, Blue Miracle will pull at your heart strings.
The decisions you make will determine who you will become and what others see in the person you have become.
Parker (2013)
Certainly worth watching
It had everything. The setup, snatch and grab, double cross and get your revenge. Typical fights with with fast recuperation and everyone gets what they deserve in the end.
