Texas 6 (2020)
Small Town....Huge Impact
Socal Reviews-
This show is fabulous. The town of Strawn lives and breathe their high school team. The players on the team are almost town celebrities. The coach is a saint, as he uses football to teach life lessons. I have alot of respect for him. Many of these boys come in damaged and bruised, but come out better. They are better prepared to take on life's challenges. You dont need 100 man roseter, big towns, and big crowds to experience victory, defeat,....althought on a small scale...the impact is HUGE here
Little House on the Prairie: Going Home (1976)
SEASON TWO - Rating
Since this is the last episode of SEASON TWO.....I wanted to rate the entire season.
Season two is what saved the show. After season one, viewership was surprisingly weak. However, during season two the show caught on like wildfire...and lasted 7 more years....the reason! Great episodes.....memorable episodes.....and to this day hold up. Here are my favorite episodes of SEASON TWO.
1. Richest Man in Walnut Grove
2. The Talking Machine
3. Remember Me 1 and 2
4. Troublemaker
5. Matter of Faith
6. Going Home
weakest: Haunted House and Centennial
Overall Season score 84/100
Little House on the Prairie: The Long Road Home (1976)
Another fine classic!
Love Love Love this episode. Athough it reminds me of another episode in season one (the dynamite...where their German friend gets blown up). This story paints the challenges of getting income during this period. Some of the options were life and death.....and in one swift move...you could be dead. In this case it was transporting nitroglycerine.....I remember the tense feeling as a child of the nitro just exploding at any moment....still has the same feeling for me...
Little House on the Prairie: For My Lady (1976)
One of my favorites of the season!
I adore this story. The misunderstanding of Caroline is powerful and fueled by Mrs. Oleson. Charles completely surprised us in the end. This is one of those episodes that tug at those heart strings....and make the viewer realize why they come back to this show over and over again
Little House on the Prairie: Soldier's Return (1976)
Storng Episode!
I enjoyed this! storyline about the trials of war. At this time of filming the Vietnam war had ended and these were issues in modern society
Little House on the Prairie: Troublemaker (1976)
Memorable Episode
This is one of the BEST episodes of season 2. At this time, LOTP was gaining momentum in the ratings. Keep in mind, after Season one....the show was doing well and talk of cancellation was on the horizon....however, with a strong season 2.....LOTP rolled along for 8 more years! Thanks to episodes like these....
This episode has some memorable moments....Classic Harriet who will run out Mrs. Beadle. . A school bully who shaves and torments Mrs. Beadle. A washed up school master who to this day scared the H out of me. The show culminates with Charles confronting the schoolmaster and destroying his stick of power. In the end, the students all agree to support the beloved Mrs. B by ganging up against the bully......Mrs. Beadle is back!!!
Little House on the Prairie: The Runaway Caboose (1976)
The Car The Car!
This is a classic episode. Each season has something the runs away....earlier it was a raft in which Laura and Nellie float away! This season episode has a train, another season there is a hot air balloon.
Anyway, very entertaining when the train does roll away.....very realistic. Also, you have to watch the white truck in the background. It appears about 1/2 way through.
Little House on the Prairie: The Pride of Walnut Grove (1976)
Let's Go Mary!
Mary represents her town in a math competition. However, she places second. She feels she has let down her entire town. Partly, because they all supported her trip to the big city....with a financial support. The pressure is on!
Good episode with a simple message: It's all about trying! Do your best, and we will be proud of you!
Little House on the Prairie: His Father's Son (1976)
Mr. Edwards seems a little stressed.
The happy go lucky Mr. Edwards seems to be a little stressed. He insists that his oldest son goes hunting....although he doesn't want to. I am not sure why any father word force his son into that situation....not to mention his second oldest son wants to go, and he denies him. The premise seems a little far fetched and a stretch. With that said, the bear scene is top notch and a little frightening. Props for the camera work on that. Overall, an intense episode...but seems a little phony to me
Little House on the Prairie: The Gift (1975)
Midseason filler....
Although I am fan of "life lesson' episodes.....this one falls a little flat for me. Just not alot of character development, and the rivalry between the Olesons have seen better days. I am a fan of Rev. Alden, but this episodes is somewhat of a slog for me. Overall, not my favorite
Little House on the Prairie: At the End of the Rainbow (1975)
The Return of E. Sprague!
This is a solid episode....that is highlighted with the return of E. Sprague for a small appearance at the end. Laura finds out that all the riches in the world, doesn't add up to the most important thing.....LOVE. The dream sequences are quite hilarious and clever. Overall, a nice episode with a valuable lesson
Little House on the Prairie: The Camp-Out (1975)
Charles almost boycotts
One of those rare episodes that takes place outside Walnut Grove....that was rare for the earlier seasons. Some of the highlights are Harriet falling into a stream, the poison ivy attack on Nellie and Willie, they mysterious figure hiding in the woods. It seemed that this episode revolved entirely of the Laura and Nellie fall into the fast moving river....and everything else was just a set up for that. The river escapade was ok.....however, the wide shots were clearly stunt doubles which has always bothered me.....overall, a decent episode that had some highlights
Little House on the Prairie: The Spring Dance (1975)
Ewwww.....Willie kisses Laura
Fun and lighthearted episode....Laura tries to manipulate a boy into asking her to the spring dance. Of course, Mr. Edwards tries to do the same with Grace. This was the beginning of Mr. Edwards and Grace's storyline which ran well into the series. Overall, not alot going on here.....just some playful antics and some fun.
What I do love about this episode is the scope of Walnut Grove...lots of cool outdoor shot s in different locations. I still can't believe they build a city for just this show.....amazing
Little House on the Prairie: Haunted House (1975)
Does Laura understand Stranger Danger?
Another episode where Laura hangs out with a complete male stranger. Similar to the storyline of E. Sprague a few episodes back.....How does Charles condone this? "It's ok Laura go hang out with that weird man on the edge of town." Makes me laugh. What is misleading is the title.....Im assuming this was released around Halloween and titled 'Haunted House".....this story has NOTHING to do with that at all. It is simply about a man is holding on to the memory of his dead wife. Laura lightens his spirit by giving him scripture and realizes that he will see her in Heaven. His whole attitude changes....Laura saves the day! ......I think they were trying to create the magic similar to Ernest
Borgnine in the previous season.....might have missed the mark
Little House on the Prairie: Four Eyes (1975)
Why is wearing glasses soooooo bad!
I could never understand how emotional Mary gets when she realizes she has blurry vision. Very odd considering, this was a time when people where dying left and right from disease, infection, or any other prairie calamity.....but for Lord's sake....I can't see the letter B!!! Overall, one of the better episodes in season 2. Good tension between the Olesons and the Ingalls......What I liked the best was the storyline between Mary and Charles. I love the part when Mrs. Beadle's beau came, and Mary completely changed her opinion on glasses.
Very funny!
Little House on the Prairie: In the Big Inning (1975)
Go Grove Go Grove!
The boys from Sleepy Eye are coming to play our pals from Walnut Grove. In the end, Walnut Grove pulls off the win! Overall, this episode provides filler for season 2. There really isn't any character development, or heart strings tugged, or even a message. Instead it is just a silly and somewhat entertaining episode. The best part of the episode is the 19th century baseball nuances.....everything from the marching band to the poor excuse for a glove. Not my favorite, but still a worthwhile episode..
Little House on the Prairie: Ebenezer Sprague (1975)
Laura Saves the Day!
This episode has really grown on me. It really takes a look how a person can become a skeptic and view the world in a negative light. The banker, Mr. Sprague comes to town and denies loans to everyone.....even Mrs. Beadle who wanted a loan to purchase new books for her school. .....until Laura makes a breakthrough.....the message is strong...."sometimes people just want to be a friend.....no strings attached" In the end Mr. Sprague changes his ways. The school gets their books! Beautiful story!
