Deep drama
2 April 2024
Viewers are immersed in a tumultuous journey where the fragility of fertility collides with the yearning for parenthood. The film's narrative takes a dramatic turn when the woman chooses to betray her husband by engaging in an affair with a man identical to him in appearance, solely to conceive a child. While this decision may seem contrived given the existence of adoption as a viable option, it serves to underscore the characters' desperate longing for biological parenthood and their fear of societal judgment. Despite the availability of alternatives, the characters' actions reflect the profound emotional turmoil and societal pressures they face. This daring narrative choice adds a layer of complexity to the film, provoking contemplation on the lengths individuals may go to fulfill their deepest desires. With each scene, propelled by authentic performances and breathtaking cinematography, "The Secret Garden of Mariana" explores the depths of human emotion and the complexities of moral dilemmas, leaving audiences captivated and introspective long after the credits roll.

Nice drama

The movie's just okay. Not great, not terrible. Cast's top-notch but script's poorly done. Couldn't really get into the plot's idea, found the insect allegories and camera takes clichéd and shallow. Seriously. That's the movie summed up: great cast, great premise, but developed with zero depth. Sadly, while it's enough to keep you hooked for 90 minutes with just one location since the whole movie takes place in the same setting, there's no depth to the characters or their relationships. Shallow, plain and simple. The actors and the settings are what prevent it from being a total disaster......
