All in the Family (1971)
Appreciate the show more as time goes on!
At first its easy to villianize Archie, who is opionated and a bit a loud mouth. But as you watch and appreciate it, the real villian to me is Mike. An empty suit, a progressive lazy unemployed Liberal who thinks he's better than every one else. Because he's in school automatically his view is better and more important than everyone else's, and the way he treats his father in law is pretty disgusting. Archie, a blue collar worker, uneducated as he is, pays ALL the bills...he puts a roof over Mike's liberal panty a** which Mike doesn't pay ANY rent or offer with any bills. Archie supplies the groceries that feed Mike's rather large appetite, and again Mike contributies NOTHING to run or maintain the household, the only thing he can do is insult and put down Archie because he, Mike is soooo much better than Archie and all Mike does is spout his liberal holier than now attitude and thumbs his nose at Archie and Archie's kind.
That's not to say Archie isn't unlikeable at times because he is. He treats Edith shabbily, his bigotry and ethnic characterizations are cringe-worthy for sure.
But to demonize Archie while exhaulting Mike is wrong. Don't think I ever heard Mike say thanks or appreciate the fact that Archie housed, fed and paid the bills while Mike continued his liberal education.
Quantum Leap: Jimmy - October 14, 1964 (1989)
Brilliant!
This is one QL episode I will always seek out...Sam is just brilliant as Jimmy, and the gut wrenching emotions that Frank feels with his brother and his wife, as his wife doesn't want anything to do with Jimmy and wants him sent back, while Frank tries to mainstream & honor his promise to his father. Sam as all know is brilliant, but as the mistakes & clumliness of the real Jimmy take over Sam the Doctor, he becomes less self assured and more nervous and the episode again is one of the best.
Corey is the only one who treats Jimmy as "normal" and this ep is must see for all, and when the co-workers accept Jimmy and realize there is nothing to fear from him wow!
When Sam, as Jimmy, screams "They tought it at the Institution!!" Goose Bumps...Must see!
Everybody Loves Raymond: Say Uncle (2001)
Selfish Jealous Ray
Once again Ray proves what a jerk he really and truly is. Robert takes the time to spend with his niece and nephews, and good ole selfish Ray is jealous because he WON'T and DOESN'T want to spend time with his kids. He would rather golf, and then gets mad and treats his brother like pond scum because the kids enjoy Uncle Robert. Ray is just a selfish, self-centered man child who only wants to do what he wants and then gets angry when others point out what an incredily self-centered jerk he is. He should be grateful to Robert for wanting to spend and teach the kids new things, and that Robert is a good and caring Uncle. Just once I would've loved for someone to pop Ray and let there be some true repercussions for his selfish whiny bratty attitude towards his brother.
Hubcap (2021)
Give it a chance!
I know...a movie about a flying hubcap that kills people...you are thinking LSD 3AM obscure channel with nothing else on.... However.....
Give it a chance! The movie wasn't as silly as the title might lead you to believe. There was an actual plot with a couple of subplots that made sense when put together. And the reason for the Hubcap becoming to life again there is a reason behind it...replace "Hubcap" with an animal etc., a protector of the wronged and it does make sense.
Of course the token sex scenes (which IMHO weren't really needed) and some salty F bombs were minor detractions, and a little slow at times but again not too shabby.
And of course the ending leaves open the possibility of a sequel.... How about "The Cap is Back!"
So in conclusion, don't judge by the title alone...put it all together and give it a chance, its not all that bad!
Everybody Loves Raymond: The Christmas Picture (1999)
Ray is a jerk!
At first I thought Debra was wrong in inviting her parents to be part of a Barone Family Picture. She still was kinda, and what they should've done is have one Barone Family, one with Ray, Debra and the kids with Debra's parents. But then after watching spineless, selfish Ray throw Debra under the bus AGAIN by refusing to even consider spending part of Christmas with her parents, I was like go for it Debra. Ray took away your being able to spend time and let your parents share in the joy of the kids opening their gifts with his selfish, bratty, his parents only attitude, so yeah give it back to him. Ray never ever backs Debra up, because he's a selfish, wimpy main chlld who is very much self-centered and all about him. Then of course Marie with her oh woe is me, and the whole Barone family ragging on Debra's parents like they are oh so perfect. Best part was Robert's imitation of selfish Ray, he is the best character!
Blue Bloods: Times Like These (2021)
Chase needs to go!
Do not care for the new Mayor. He's a bully, and the writers have Frank turned all wussy in not standing up to him. Several episodes the Mayor is just a flat out complete and utter jerk, who shows no respect to the PC or Frank. At least with Mayor Poole you knew that he and Frank had different idealogues, but they respected each other and didn't talk down or try to bully like Chase does. Get our Frank Reagan back, maybe Frank should resign and leave the PC in chaos as Chase finds out he can't be a bully or a jerk. He has to compromise, and if he wants respect then he better give it as well. But please, give Frank his spine back!
Still Small Voices (2007)
Bravo!!!
What an outstanding movie! Kudos to all involved with this project, from the director to the writer to the actors/actresses. They all did an outstanding job, especially the multi-talented Catherine Bell. Wow! She totally blew me away with her performance as the tormented Michael, you could literally feel her pain and anguish as she sorted through her visions and uncovered the truth.
I've seen Catherine give some outstanding performances on JAG, and she totally was in her element and gave her all to her portrayal as Michael.
Like was said above, you have to pay close attention to the curves, and it was fun trying to unravel the mystery right along with Michael.
