Higher Power (2018)
This is different, unique, and for the very small budget is pretty 'damn' (pun) good!
I liked the story and most of the effects are cool, in my opinion. All in all not half bad. I'm bias because I love different ideas and I love sci-fi.... Having said that, I can see why some people would call this crap and I do agree with the point made about it could've been so much more....
Still I do think it's good and I really liked what happens in the story, so I think both these downsides just comes under the 'small budget' umbrella....
Good work!!! I hope there is a second one that is gifted a 'higher power budget' to expand and exploit the character(s) more and move the story even further forward. :D
S. Darko (2009)
Spoils the original - Comically Awful
First 20 minutes spoiled it for me, seeing the 'Rabbit Ears' on the dead girl just totally done my head in. That was to do with the fancy dress party of the first film, why capitalise on an exhausted idea?! What a royal cock up. OMG then the odd bloke building and then wearing a metal rabbit mask, hahaha, this film is hilarious! So many screw ups with comparisons to the first film.
Having said that, liked the photography and some of the effects were quite unique, petty they were involved in such a badly written film. Shame, Shame, Shame...
Isn't really worth watching if you liked the original, quite a let down in many aspects.
Max Payne (2008)
Dark, Extremely Atmospheric and Perfectly Filmed
This is nothing like 'Die Hard' and is not meant to be. The main scene settings is within the dark snowy nights. It is gorgeously put together, with snow flakes drifting by slowly, right in the middle of the most intense moments. It feels dark and cold, very cold and that goes with the whole 'revenge' plot. The photography is extremely artistic, and darkly beautiful, especially the gun slinging scenes, which also have superb reverberating sound effects. The plot itself is entertaining, although a little predictive, but I love films for the 'artistic edge' more than the plot itself, and this has that edge, like very few films these days. Well done!
The Secret (2006)
This key'd in some big techniques of living well, I'd almost forgot...
I loved this, yeah the start with the Australian lady is a pile of poop, but everything else in it made perfect sense. Emotions control the universe that is the secret by the way. It's controlling those emotions thats the difficult part, and that's pretty much what this says.
At 15 I took a micro-dot acid and fried my brain for hours and hours inside a hellish nightmare, but at one point I turned it all around and had the most amazing experience, that one point was when I saw fine rays of sunlight shining through the gaps in a curtain shining with the dust particles in the room, it was all twinkling beautifully (everyone has seen this before by the way think about it). At that point I said to myself 'that's beautiful.' and I uplifted myself, lots and lots great things happened, but the point I'm trying to make is when you accept a very positive or loving emotion into your mind/heart, you raise yourself.
This video made me remember that clearly and my life has already took major turns of approvement since watching it. (I don't do acid anymore by the way) More than ever I adored the words of Ester Hicks, so beautifully spoken.
