Has alot to offer for a $2 rent...
This movie is very entertaining. It has that Im-too-cool-for-school feel that you pretty much only get watching Tarantino or Rodriquez. I like skip. I want check out his other stuff. If you see it check it out. I think the biggest problem is the writting. Good over all plot but some of the lines are a little lame, overall the whole movie just doesnt quite work, I cant put my finger on it... Dont let that discourage you from checking it out. If you like either one of the aformentioned directors check it out...
Imagination (2002)
The future of Fantasy
Imagination is an incredible short film. The world of fantasy and reality become one when a little girl gets her doll stolen by a demon. In order to get her doll back she enters a world of fantasy and horror to find her missing doll. The film is extremly creative, offering audiences something not seen before. Instead of diolgue the director chose to use song and dance to move the story, making Imagination one of the most creative short's I have seen in a long time. Decosto is extremly talented and I cant wait to see her next films! IF you have a chance watch this remarkable short.
Red Dragon (2002)
Great conection to Silence...
I saw this film last night at a media screening and being a fan of Edward Norton. I went in with high expectations and again was not dissapointed. This film surpassed Hannibal but still falls short of Silence of the Lambs. Red Dragon, being the story of Manhunter, is a much better film and has an amazing plot twist in which Manhunter just fell short. Skip Manhunter and go see this film. Warning though it is not for the faint of heart, the film is a HARD R. It is disterbing and hard to watch, If you have kids or a squimmesh significant other keep them away from this one. I would have to give this one 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Blood of the Samurai (2001)
UPCOMING FILMMAKER WITH LOTS OF GORY FUN!!!!
This movie for what it is, may be one of the most amazing indie films of recent day. Made on a super small budget, the film has special effects that blow away alot of the current films! IF you have a chance watch it!
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Attack of the clones has the empire strikes back feel...
I saw this film at the press screening on May 7th with the Houston Chronicle, several online zines and the paper I work for The Collegian, a college newspaper. Not only did I see possibly the greatest summer movie but also I made contacts. For that I thank you George Lucas.
Anyway in the original trilogy number 5 The Empire strikes back is known to be the darkest of the films with hope being almost lost. In this film it is similar except the Jedi do not know it yet, but you as the viewer knowing 4,5,6 will see it right away. Hayden the kid who played Anikin Skywalker has done a great job with this role. HE acts extremely similar to the kid from the first, which makes us believe he is Anakin. And let me just say this...there is good reason why no one messes with Yoda. Jango Fett is a little disappointing in this film but he does shape Boba Fett and it shows this relationship which is very interesting.
The last 45 minutes are by far the greatest display of eye candy ever presented in a sci-fi movie...as a writer and a fan..Lucas gives us what we always wanted...Lots and Lots of Jedi fighting side by side. This is in my opinion the greatest of the star wars saga and all I can say is if you don't watch this film, whether you like star wars or not you will be missing out on a piece of movie history.
Bully (2001)
Violent Racy and Real
Larry Clark's movies are known to be extreme. Every thing he does reaches the viewer's emotions. His films effect the viewer on a personal level and he shows reality. The film Bully has an incredible young cast that all have real futures in the industry. Bjou Phillips gives on amazing preformance as well as Brad Renfro and Nich Stahl. This movie does have explict hardcore nudity and extreme language. So if you are extremly sensative do not view this film. But if you enjoyed Kids or another day in paradise I reccomend this film with all that is within me. this film is violent racy and real.
The Score (2001)
This movie had the potential to be so much...but falls
I walked into this film thinking it was Heat meets The Real Mccoy and I left feeling unfullfilled. The ending to this movie abruply finishes kinda like well where out of money and ideas lets just end it...It took them 2 hours to get to the robbery and 5 minutes to end the movie. It had all this steam and it loses it. If your going to make a 140 minute movie you have to put some action in it to keep you awake.I wanted to see the robbers fight it out for the freakin prize like the previews made you believe..but no, thats not the direction the movie went because it ended. I dont know what the critics were smoking when they watched this one but the script was just a let down. Hollywood is really running short of ideas lately. The cast and acting was well done. Ed Norton was amazing, playing a handicapped man is hard work. Trust me rent this one. 4 0ut of 10
