Garbage, garbage, garbage. I don't think I even smiled once so appalled was I. All the poop and barf and fart humor was just insulting, the chemistry between the parents was not there, their love not believable at all. I liked the kids' acting though. Jessica Alba is a sexy mama but that is out of place in a children's movie if you ask me. And then I can't stand movies that are just mainly battles, especially a kid's flick. The plot made some sense (but had some major flaws) but the message was spelled out way too much and repeated over and over just in case we didn't get it. Perhaps I am old-fashioned but I like children's films to be cute, imaginative, non-violent and beautiful (as an art form).

granted, there was some scatology in there but kids are always fond of that... The two kids I took (both 8) both got enthralled in the film, laughed and cheered on. One actually started to cry when the Smurfs were endangered. Also maybe this happened to be a particularly captive audience but we heard claps at the end of the film!
Sure, it has a classic storyline with escaping the villain and being caught by the villain but defeating him and having goodness prevail... but most stories do! (especially in children's films)
Honestly, I was seeing this film with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised.

Warm-hearted, so human, funny and tragic all at once! Don't be thrown off by the image quality (it was all shot on video) or the subtitles, this film is a gem! The subject might make some uncomfortable but if you are not afraid to see something about the sexual desires of the handicapped, something honest, open and realistic, go for it! The main character is great too, great actor. All the characters are very attaching (save some of the nurses). It's a shame this movie has not been distributed in the US! I guess maybe there was some scare of puritanical reactions given the topic... With the proper exposure, it could become a cult classic!

A wonderful rendering of the 60s. If you grew up like me with the 1968 revolution as a mythical era, this film will make you jubilate. Sex, drugs, rock and roll, radical thinking, revolutionaries, and the research of freedom, pleasure and new horizons. Freeing of the mind, freeing of the body
In her small town in Bavaria, Obermaier feels the revolution pounding in her bones and can't stay in place in her confined, old-fashioned home. Listening to rock music is her escape but it simply is not enough. She takes off and lives in an activist commune for some time before becoming a lover of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and marrying a rich adventurer and traveling the world with him. A lively portrait of strong-willed Obermaier, her rebelliousness and search for unbound freedom. "Don't dream your life, live your dream" is a motto that appears in the film and could not apply better. Uschi appears unstoppable, ready to conquer the world, explore the confines of freedom.
