Stallone: Frank, That Is (2021)
Unexpected
I really enjoyed this & I didn't really expect to. He's not just the "other" Stallone. He's a gifted artist who just never caught the right break at the right moment. Although upbeat throughout, he (& others) shed a lot of light on Frank & some very emotionally difficult times, which seem to have expressed themselves in depressive episodes & mood swings. He's a committed, driven artist but also a renaissance man with a wide variety of interests. Truly a surprise of a film. The dynamic between the brothers might be my favorite part. So much shared family experience with a difficult father & an eccentric mother plus the usual complex sibling thing. Well worth watching.
Into the Wild Frontier: Anne Bailey: Horseback Heroine (2023)
Great episode, but ...
I was unaware of this historical figure. Really fascinating! Naturally, I wanted to learn more about this heroine, Anne Bailey, so I read up in external sources; a one hour episode can only do so much. But then I also wanted to know more about the cast of the episode itself. Surprised to be unable to find who played the titular character. Can't INSP or IMDB bother to list the fabulous actor who played the MAIN role of Anne? Rude! Lastly, one fun scene shows her and her second husband (to be) in a shooting contest. I usually find these "Into the Wild Frontier" episodes to be not bad in the reality department. In this case, though, not a single shot showing any kind of recoil. If you're going to have an up close shooting exhibition, especially showing a female shooter who is excellent - and WINS - you could also show that it was all the more difficult for a less muscled shooter firing that weapon.
