Halloween Kills (2021)
A slight letdown after the last film.
Halloween Kills feels like a filler episode of a soap opera television show. I enjoyed the last installment and went into this one hoping to do the same. However, this film seems too distracted with strung out moments and horrible character decisions. The ending seemed to try to add something to the lore, but even then it didn't know exactly what it wanted to add. Either way, it was far too late into the film. I'm interested to see how the next one turns out because it seems they saved all the good moments for that one. There were some positives though. Allison's character is going down a path that I'm interested in seeing in the next film. Plus the kills in this film are amazing, but given the title I'd expect that. Halloween Kills is certainly a mess, but at least you're getting Michael Myers doing what he does best.
Shadow Man (2021)
Creepy..
Love the aspect ratio and soundtrack of this short. It gives off an extremely disturbing vibe that works in its favor. I'd love to see a longer take on this.
Malignant (2021)
A Fun Time
Malignant might be overflowing with story elements, but it almost never lets you know it. This is one of those films that's best seen as a fun watch on a Saturday night and boy did it succeed at that. It has a certain wacky style that keeps you invested in a plot that's almost impossible to guess the ending from the start. Despite the questions it leaves, Malignant will leave you feeling satisfied nevertheless.
Hellraiser: Inferno (2000)
Surprisingly good
Honestly, when you're on the fifth installment of a horror series there's not much hope going in. Especially considering the last installment took place in space. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Hellraiser: Inferno. It might've been originally written as another film, but I don't think that takes away from the fact that this was well-written and had me on the edge of my seat. It even manages to give us a very satisfying conclusion. Inferno might not be a good Hellraiser movie, but it is an excellent psychological horror film.
Walker: Back in the Saddle (2021)
Continuing Mediocrity.
Although I liked this one slightly more than the pilot episode, it still leaves a ton of room for improvement.
Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks (2021)
A Bright Future Ahead
I feel like Doctor Who has been struggling these last few years. However, it's gradually getting better even if there might be a few road bumps along the way. This episode has got to be the best of the Chibnall era. It was actually tough to see the two companions leave. This was probably because this was one of the few times they actually had some decent development. I'd also like to mention a few things I enjoyed about this episode. The callbacks to older seasons by Jack were amazing, Jodie has a great performance as The Doctor, and bringing pure Daleks to exterminate the impure was awesome to see. I'm very excited to see what Series 13 brings.
