Great Movie for a rainy day
10 March 2011
I encountered this movie on a dreary, rainy day and after watching it for about 10 minutes, it thoroughly sucked me in. It is fascinating portrayal of the plight of the homeless. a problem that effects nearly a million people in this country. If you really are concerned about humanity, I strongly suggest it. It seems that there is a "void" in Hollywood to tackle social problems, but this attempt hits the nail on the head. It gave me the thought that we take so much for granted in our lives, while we ignore many issues which profoundly effect others. It doesn't pull any punches, and there are few, if any, cliché's.... Danny Glover, Matt Dillon and a strong supporting cast are superb, and the location shooting is impressive. Don't pass this one up.

Rachel getting "something"
26 July 2009
I rarely take the time to post remarks on this board. But I visit thsi site often because I like movies. My wife and I were so anxious to see this movie.......we were really impressed with Anne Hathaway's prior works, especially in "The Devil Wears Prada"......and I won't fault her performance in this movie, but I will fault the movie, which I thought was a huge disaster. Why do some people in Hollywood continually insist to add useless controversy to their movies?? OK...a dis-functional family is no problem, but the filming, continuity, editing, and just plain weirdness of every situation made it virtually impossible to comprehend. I can understand that family problems, addiction, race-relations, and emotions can be effective ingredients to a movie....but to take them above and beyond by inserting weirdness at every corner is absurd. That wedding ceremony was simply awful..and a lot of other talented actors and actresses were simply bogged down by the terrible direction and lack of continuity. This movie sucked, plain and simple..so bad that I wouldn't waste a minute on seeing it again if and when it ever comes to cable..and knowing cable, they'll ram in down our throats incessantly.

Taking Chance (2009 TV Movie)

Very poignant movie
21 February 2009
This movie is basically a documentary with actors.........and very well thought out........it is not for the feint of heart or for people that demand "happy-endings". It is thought-provoking and will not leave a dry-eye in the house. The casting is first-rate, as is the attention to detail..... so many of these type of movies lose a lot due to poor continuity. Kevin Bacon does a superb job, as does the supporting cast.....My family recently had a son of a friend killed in Iraq while serving in the Marines, and the images seen in this movie parallel the emotions we observed our friends family endure. It is a fine rendition to honor all those from our country all who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Route 66 (1960–1964)
Season Two now available
25 August 2008
I just received an e-mail from Amazon.com that the second series of this series is soon to be released. Orders can now be taken by logging on to Amazon. The release date is in October....The price is listed at $36.99 and Amazon says that you will save 26% by ($12.99) by ordering early. I was kind of surprised by the personal notification from Amazon....it seems that they pay attention to who orders what items, and notify you of current releases.

I've already ordered mine, and can't wait to see more of this series that I entirely missed when I was young. I see that a lot of other old and "lost" series are being released, so I guess this is something we can all look forward to.

Re: Violent Saturday
24 August 2008
Actually, I came upon this movie on a blah Sunday morning... and got immediately "sucked into it. I was very surprised at how well made it was, with an excellent cast, wide-screen image, good location filming in Bisbee, Arizona, very limited use of sets and the location filming always attracts me. I'd never seen or heard of this movie before today, and I recommend it to any film addict. The sub-plots are also well thought out...this type of film seemed predominant in the 50's and this one in particular reminded me of other 50's films such as "Bad day at Black Rock". Can't wait to see it again.

Song at the end
15 August 2008
It was really good to catch this movie the other night. It's definitely a "cult classic". I once had a friend, now deceased who would go to theaters miles away to see this flick. He probably knew all the lines.. It was also nice to see this on cable, where they included the part with the naked girl on the bike.

Anyway, at the end of the movie, while Kowalski is about to crash into the bulldozers, a song is being sung. It seems to be Delaney and Bonnie singing......and then Kowalski crashes...the song goes on until the end... The song in question apparently is not in the CD, etc available....I'm trying to find the name to this song,,,which I like very much.
