Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005)
Exceeded expectations
I can't understand the low ratings! Best family night movie in a long time. My husband and I have fond memories of the originals and our 9yo daughter LOVED this as much as we did. Excellent soundtrack, no bad language, cute moments, good action, strong female lead, and Michael Keaton is always fabulous. This movie understood its target demo and we will rewatch this often in our house, I'm sure.
The Birds (1963)
A classic, but not my favorite
I do like this film, but I've always been annoyed by the non-ending and lack of either scientific or supernatural explanation of the birds' behavior. At least with Arachnophobia (a movie I'm not ashamed to say I really enjoy) we know why the spiders are aggressive and there's a satisfying ending.
Idiocracy (2006)
This movie is straight trash that is a must-see in 2022
I sensed in 2006 that this deliciously quotable, trashy little satire would become more on-the-nose with the passage of time. Looking back on it now, it's not even funny anymore. It's scary. We have truly arrived in so many ways.
Sweet Magnolias (2020)
Some of us need this
EVERYTHING out there right now is TV-MA. Some of us like/want/need shows this speed. Give us another season, Netflix! Some folks are saying it's too religious but the ladies drink and have sex outside of marriage, so...? Let's just meet in the middle on that one. The accents aren't perfect but still better than Hart of Dixie, lol. I also don't feel anyone is an over-the-top Southern caricature and they're attempting diversity in casting, which is nice. I really like this show, as do all of my 35-45 year old church friends haha. Just give us this one!
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Genesis (1994)
Guilty pleasure
I really don't care that the science is bad on this one. It's campy and fun. So bad it's good!
