The Mandalorian: Chapter 22: Guns for Hire (2023)
This show has officially jumped the shark.
This season hasn't felt like The Mandalorian show from past seasons, somewhere after the first episode Din Djarin and Grogu stopped being the main characters and it turned into the Bo-Katan show. It had it moments so I kept tuning in but after this episode, I'm so done!!! The cameos were beyond distracting! Lizzo and Jack Black?!? Really?!? I felt like I was watching a parody skit on SNL. Though I love Jack Black, he only knows how to play Jack Black and Lizzo can't act. Star War fans don't care about celebrity cameos, they want to see other Star War characters crossover from past series and movies. This is not a after Super Bowl show, we don't want all that nonsense. It that how desperate this series has become. They turned Din Djarin into a complete Neanderthal in this episode. I know he is suppose to hate droids but the way he was treating the droids was even too childish for him. This show is determine to have Bo-Katan wield the darksaber even by giving it to her on a technicality. She didn't earn it the first time on Rebels and she didn't earn it on this episode. It's safe to say she is not the rightful ruler of Mandalore. I like Bo-Katan but I want less of her and more of Din Djarin and Grogu.
Willow (2022)
Nothing like the original- cringeworthy bad
I don't understand why anyone would give this show anything above 5 star rating, and a 5 is being generous. My goodness was the a difficult series to watch. I really tried but after a few episodes, I just couldn't anymore, I had to check out. It felt like a was watching one of those over the top cringeworthy teen drama shows from Netflix. Everything that made the original so special was gone. The dialogue, costumes, choice of music, characters, and storyline made no sense. Everything just felt out of place. Even Willow seemed so different from the original. All those actors playing teens were extremely bad, they also lacked chemistry with one another. Seriously can they please get rid of Kathleen Kennedy now. She already ruined Star Wars, now she has officially ruined Willow. Unfortunately this show was not made for the fans of the original.
House of the Dragon (2022)
Watered down Game of Thrones
Before David Benioff and D. B Weiss ruined Game of Thrones with season 6-7, it was the most compelling show on TV. This show is similar to the last couple seasons of GOT. There is lack of character development, incoherent story lines, everything is a mess. The only think it has going for it it's that it's connected to GOT. I believe if it had to stand on its own, it would have been cancelled by now. It is beautifully shot but that's where it ends. It's hard to get invested with the characters since they are all over place and they keep jumping a few years in between episodes. It's basically a TV version of GOT footnotes for dummies.
The Gray Man (2022)
200 million dollar movie, $10 script!
Boy was this hard to watch! The storyline was just terrible! It took a while to find out what was going on, it felt as if I had started the movie midway. Movie lacked foundation, character development, and cohesiveness. Chris Evans was not believable as a deranged assassin. It did look like a 200 million dollar movie but more time should of been spent telling a good story.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Not as good as Ragnarock.
Too much of a good think can ruin anything. In this case it was all the jokes, it was just too too much! Also most were terrible kiddie jokes. Except for one over the top orgy joke. This is the second Thor film that mentions it. We get Taika! Given all the serious issues of loss and death, the film should have been more serious. Christian Bale was great but they underused him. With Bale being one of the best actors Marvel has ever had, he should of had a lot more scenes. Another great actor Russel Crow was a complete joke! Overall, the film felt rushed and there wasn't any character development. Can I also ask what is up with the CGI in marvel movies/shows lately. It's becoming soooo bad! They hit there peak with the Avengers on how realistic it was, since then it's been going down hill. They are going down the DC path.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
So so
I love Johnny Depp but I thought Mads Mikkelsen did a much better job of portraying Grinderwald. The character was more subtle but yet more villainous. Johnny Depps take on Grinderwald seemed a bit too extravagant and over the top. The different color eye was unnecessary and too distracting. With that said, I felt the storyline was off and a bit boring. Also, You can't have a film called Fantastic Beast and have no beast. That's what made the first film so great. The only good thing is they gave the film a decent ending, so if WB chooses not to make a new on, it's okay.
The Northman (2022)
Greatly disappointment!
Based off the trailer, I thought I would be watching a masterpiece. Oh boy, was I wrong! Slow paced and extremely dull. I kept dozing off, I had to force my eyes to stay awake.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
What a disappointment!
Film had it's positives like the touch of horror, going into the multi-universe, you also can never go wrong with Dr. Strange. But, and that's a big BUT! The visuals were a bit off and the cameos were such a waste. 10 minutes of the film, felt as though a was watching a Quentin Tarantino film, and not in a good way. To Sam Raimi, what did you do? You completely ruin a character who was given the best character development in the MCU and crapped all over her. Wandavision made us fall in love with a character we cared very little about. This film should of been a continuation of her story with her struggling with her demons, instead we got a one note villain. She was just too evil, all the emotion and humanity was gone. I left the theater feeling like a had just broken up with the most amazing boyfriend. So sad. I thought I was going to watch this film 3-4 times in theaters, 1 is enough for me.
Moon Knight (2022)
Good first episode but that's where it ends.
Oscar Isaac acting is the only reason to watch this show. Everything else about Moon Knight was completely terrible! CGI, worse than any DC movie. Every Egyptian prop looked newer and cleaner than a brand new car. Apparently the budget for this show was 25 million per episode, if that's the case, they got ripped off. Oh, and Ethan Hawke was boring as the villain, he looked and acted like he was half a sleep through the entire show.
Turning Red (2022)
Good thing I didn't pay to watch this.
Talk about two of the most irritating characters Pixar has ever created. The overbearing mother Ming and her overly dramatic daughter Mei, made this film extremely difficult to watch. Both characters were beyond insufferable! Pixar is completely losing its touch! This is the 3rd film in a row they make, that I would not want to watch more than once.
Hawkeye (2021)
I felt like I was watching a CW show.
Am I the only one that found Kate Bishop utterly annoying? Rich little privilege girl taking the mantle of Hawkeye. Rolling my eyes.... They needed someone with more character depth, not a silly little girl. Did the producers, director, writers, or costume department see Daredevil? WTF did you do to Kingpin? He's a complete joke in this show. He looked like a grandpa that just stepped off a plane from Hawaii. He completely lost his intimidation factor, he was borderline cartoonish. Now I know Disney wants to make their villains family friendly but some are meant to be rated R. Kingpin is one of them. Disney needs to put Kingpin back on Netflix if they can't do his arc justice. Even Hawkeye has lost his badass mojo in this show. Florence Pugh is the only reason worth watching this show but she shows up towards the end so you won't be missing anything if you forward to her scenes.
Loki (2021)
Loki 101
Wasn't going to watch this show at first but now that Spider-Man is out, I felt the need to catch up on all the Marvel shows since they all link together. Am I ever so glad I did, because its become one of favorite Marvel series, right next to Daredevil. The entire cast in this show did such an awesome job. Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson have amazing chemistry together, made me wish they had more scenes together. The multiverse is going to be a complicated phase for Marvel/Disney but it'll be fun to watch.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Too much fillers.
Decent show, not something I would watch after 1 viewing. The super soldier bit is just getting old. I also could of done without the boat montage. Didn't serve no purpose to the show.
WandaVision (2021)
Sitcom, action, drama with a splash of the twilight zone.
In the past I never cared much for Wanda and Vision. After watching them here, I can't wait to see what's next. Paul Bethany is great but Elizabeth Olsen really outdoes her self in this series. You can almost feel every step of grief Wanda goes through. The changing of eras between each episode, made it stay fresh. I love that Marvel is finally giving the supporting characters their time to shine.
Cinderella (2021)
Cringeworthy bad!
Sat down and watch this with 4 preteen girls. Not even, 10 minutes into it, they all were asking to change the movie. That alone should give you an idea of how bad it is.
Cruella (2021)
I need more of Wink!
Never expected this movie to be as good as it was. So good that my daughter begged me to purchase it on Disney plus after watching it in theaters. Emma stone is easily becoming the new Meryl Streep, she can play any character flawlessly. I have to say though, she does get outshined by the cutest scene stealing chihuahua ever. I now want Wink to be my sidekick.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
They ruined Wonder Women!
I don't even know where to start on this monstrosity. It is the worst movie I have seen this year. I'm not a fan of DC movies but the first Wonder Women was enjoyable and fun to watch however, this one is the complete opposite. Terrible script, premise, stunts, and acting from mostly good actors. Oh, and where was the 80's music and nostalgia?!?! Besides some of the clothes, there was nothing 80's about this movie:(
Happiest Season (2020)
Where's the comedy?
Even Dan Levy and Aubrey Plaza couldn't save this disaster of a film. Funny it was was not! Not only did I not laugh, but I had a hard time rooting for anyone in this film. The entire family was so unlikable, the only interesting character was Jane, who they treated like crap and couldn't even bother to acknowledge her. They took superior entitled as...... to a new level. Why do they keep giving Kristen Stewart acting jobs? Her acting has to be one of the worst out there. She had the same depressing mellow tone expression throughout the entire movie movie.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Best mini series I've seen in a while
I'm a sucker for period pieces and this is a good one. I know nothing about Chess but this series had me from the first episode. I've seen it twice so far and want to see more of it. I know it's a limited series but I'm hoping Netflix will do a second.
Booksmart (2019)
Total rip off of Superbad.
Felt as though I was watching Superbad minus the comedy. They even had Jonah Hill's sister, who looks and acts just like him. Overall, the movie was more annoying than funny.
Enola Holmes (2020)
Crossing my fingers this film because part of a series.
This film was such a delight to see. All the actors were prefect for their role. It was a pleasant surprise seeing Henry Cavill in this type of role, such a handsome Sherlock. It was great seeing Millie Bobby Brown acting range besides the quiet, mysterious Eleven. I just wish there was a bit more of Helena Bonham Carter, One of the best actress out there. This movie, is smart, witty and charming . It left my family wanting to watch more.
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
David Rose is my new favorite character.
This show was such a delight! I enjoyed watching all the actors, they did such a great job and had so much chemistry with one another. It took me a few episodes to get into it but I'm glad I stuck with it. It just got better though the seasons.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016)
Gilmore Girls is now ruined!
I'm not a writer but it felt as though the script was written over a single weekend while high on drugs. It was so bad!!! I love! I mean, I loved the Gilmore Girls! I grew up with Rory and Lorelei when I was a teen. I have rewatch this show on Netflix about a dozen times. I really wanted to love this series but it was a complete train wreck. Every scenario felt forced and overdone, the main characters were not what they once were. There were storylines that never got an explanation as to why it was happening like, Why was Rory having an affair? How could she just forget about her boyfriend like that? How could she go so ill prepared to an interview? Why would she be broke? If they always said she had a trust fund. I know Rory had her faults, but she was never as careless, irresponsible, and inconsiderate as they made her on here. She became unlikable!
There were so many things on the show that the audience could have done with out. Like that musical! I wanted to throw something at the screen. We got it the first time around. We didn't need, what felt like a dozen songs. I could have also done without all those celebrity chefs as well. What a waste of time!
It was so hard to look at Lorelei. They should of waited to shoot the series until the swelling on Lauren Graham's facelift went away. It was too distracting, as was Sookie and Rory's voice. They sounded like completely different people. It was nice to see that absolutely nothing changed with Luke and Lorelei. In 10 years it was as if time froze for them. No marriage, no kids, still with the doubts in each other. It's ok to change their lives in 10 years. The audience would have accepted a off screen marriage or kid.
Kelly Bishop performance and the supporting characters did make me feel as feel as if I was watching the Gilmore Girls but the storyline the gave her was trash. Then again so was the whole 4 part series.
Mulan (2020)
Great family film!
All those people reviewing this film based on their political beliefs, need to get a life. It's a movie!!!!!! Plus, I highly doubt any of those "reviewers" actually dished out $30 to see this film. Now as for this film, it's nothing like the cartoon which I enjoyed, it's about time they change it up. I'm tired of seeing Disney remakes with the same songs and storyline, if that's the case then I'll stick to the original. The dialogue could of been better but overall, it's a wonderful remake! Beautiful costumes and gorgeous locations. It's a bit slow in the beginning but picks up midway. It even manages to bring a tear to your eye. The kids, both girls and boys loved it.
Little Women (2019)
The 1994 version is the only one worth watching
These positive reviews must of been paid for, there is no way this film is a classic. This version of Little Women is absolutely horrible! I can see why Greta Gerwig didn't get an Oscar nomination for best director. I also, don't understand how it got a nomination for best screenplay and best picture. Not one actor was right for the role they were cast in. Amy is extremely unlikable. How could they use the same actress when playing young Amy? She looks older than Meg and old enough to teach the class she was in. I couldn't stop laughing at the lime scene, it was completely ridiculous! All the whining and crying from her made the movie seem as though you were watching a bad comedy. She was beyond annoying! Laurie looked younger then all the little women plus he acted immature. I could not picture him as a ladies man. There is no Jo like Winona, Saoirse doesn't have that playfulness Jo has, she's bland all around. Beth doesn't make you tug at your heart and Meg is just forgettable. Don't waste your time watching this film, it's awful. I'll stick to the 1994 version, it's by far-superior.
