Bottom Live 2003: Weapons Grade Y-Fronts Tour (2003)
Brill!
I had the pleasure of seeing this show in Manchester, it was on a Friday after Rik and Ade had done 4 consecutive nights all over the UK, and yet they still had the energy to make the show great for us!
The DVD is also brilliant, let's hope they do another show together... long live Rik and Ade :)
The 'Burbs (1989)
The most underrated movie in history!!
This movie has to be one of my fave comedies, from the days before Tom Hanks showed us all that he is equally great as a drama actor. I've seen this movie countless times and everytime I watch it I just find new jokes to laugh at. The Noooooo...! bit is a classic and also the 'take me to the hospital I'm sick' scene is a classic moment in cinematic history. It's a real shame that it's never really been noticed because so many people are missing out. I've been spreading the word of this movie to many of my friends and when they do watch it, they just love it as much as I do. If you haven't see this, please do!! The cast is superb, especially Tom Hanks/Ray Peterson as the crumbling neighbour but the strong leading performer, Bruce Dern/Rumsfield as the the freaked out veteran and Rick Duccomun/Art as the nosey know it all in the street. Others include Corey Feldman/Ricky Butler (whatever happened to him?) and Carrie Fisher/Carol Peterson as Hanks' wife. The Klopek's are such a freaky bunch, Ray's nightmare scene is also superb and really lets everyone involved shine! Tom Hanks is my fave actor for two main reasons (excluding his charm, niceness, wit, smartness and darn good looks- BTW I'm only 15 so I'm a bit of an odd ball compared to the rest of my classmates!!! :) 1. He never fails to disappoint and 2. He is such a versatile actor. All the more reason to see this!
I think I've made my point now! :) Enjoy it when you see it! I give this movie 10/10 (11- if possible!) ;)
Forrest Gump (1994)
Superb.......nothing else can describes it
Anyone who finds this movie to be trash, I just don't understand why. Most movies are not to be taken seriously and this is one of them. Forrest Gump is just about a simple man living through his life. It's not a historical documentary it is a movie, and a masterpiece movie.
Tom Hanks, yet again is as perfect as ever and rightly enough won the best actor oscar. (Anyone who doesn't like Hanks I don't understand, what is there to dislike about him??!!) The supporting cast, especially Gary Sinise, Sally Field and Robin Wright are also magnificent and together they all put the cherry on the cake for this movie.
I agree that it is a (sort of) American movie but that doesn't make it a bad or wrong movie. It wasn't overrated in the slightest because it is such a great movie and I believe that it deserved all of the credit and awards that it receievd.
If you love movies and Tom Hanks (like moi!) and are willing to watch anything with an open mind then do yourself a favour and see it. I gurantee that this superb best picture oscar winner (and rightly so too), it will not disapoint you.
Thank you all for being patient to read this, I'm glad I got that off my chest!
Cast Away (2000)
Calling all movie fans!!!
If you love movies, you'll LOVE this! I saw this movie in early January this year and it's still in my mind 4 months later! This movie's made me in to a Tom Hanks fan because it really did give him the chance to shine. Him and his co star Wilson (the volleyball) work brilliantly together, as well as Helen Hunt who was under used but with Tom Hanks there instead......I know which one I prefer. I must warn you though, if you are flying soon and have a fear of it then don't watch this movie for your own sake. The plane crash is phenomonal and leaves you feeling dizzy and shaken. The last half hour of the movie does let the film's interest slip a bit but not much. 2 and a half hours of non-stop Tom Hanks running around on a beach and talking to his Fed-Ex friend? Desert island bliss!
The Green Mile (1999)
Superb.......nothing else can describes it
This has to be my favourite movie of all time without a shadow of a doubt. Not only does Darabont's excellent script and direction make this film wonderful enough but also the cast. Tom Hanks is perfect as Paul Edgecomb and Michael Clarke Duncan is superb as John Coffey, (like the drink, only not spelt the same!) who definately deserved that Oscar for best supporting actor. The supporting cast including David Morse, Doug Hutchinson, Barry Pepper, Michael Jeter, Sam Rockwell, James Cromwell, Bonnie Hunt etc. etc. also deserve applause for their excellent supporting roles. The fact that this movie is three hours long does put people off but the time flies by so quickly, I didn't want it to end. With all movies there are some flaws and this one has two. The dry sponge and the present day scenes. Do not let that put you off though, every second of this film is certainly a joy to watch crammed with every possible emotion jabbing at your heart. A lot of people ask me, "is this better than Shawshank?" I would say yes it is but why don't you decide for yourself. I am a huge fan of Tom Hanks which probably makes me a bit biased but once you watch this, you'll realise what an excellent actor he is.
In short, JUST WATCH IT and I gurantee you will not be disappointed!!!!!!
