Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Time waster
Watched Thor Love and Thunder with/for my 10 year old. He seemed to enjoy it. Movie was boring but coffee kept me awake. Parental guidance: The film has nudity (male) for a few seconds and occcasional kisses and several sexual references - I don't know why it was necessary in a children's movie.
True Grit (2010)
Not impressed
I haven't seen the old True Grit. In this new one, I didn't really see the true grit in anyone. All the three lead actors seemed to be doing their respective jobs (in the story), nothing special. I didn't find the motive of the lead actors - which was the premise of the story line - convincing enough. So perhaps there was something missing in either the script or direction. I did admire the acting skills of Hailee Steinfield considering she uttered long heavy lines.
Shershaah (2021)
A well made emotional action drama
Shershaah deserved a theatrical release. Shershaah is Siddharth Malhotra's best work. The filmmakers did an excellent work to portray the short life of the martyr Captain Batra. Everyone in my family cried. The music is spell-binding. Must watch.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Motivational family action drama - worth every cent
Is Top Gun Maverick worth the hype? Yes. It's one of those movies where there is next to nothing bloodshed, vulgarity and woke nonsense yet takes your breath away. Highly motivational. A fast action drama film. It's a well-made closure to the first Top Gun. You feel relieved how everything turns out.
Top Gun Maverick parental guidance - Can be watched with family, kids. Just one off swear word or may be two but right when you are too engrossed in the dramatic action.
The Kashmir Files (2022)
A rare gem of Bollywood Hindi cinema
A brilliant documentary-style feature that has been cleverly crafted. If anyone knows the context of the film's theme, dialogues, screenplay and characters, they would see the smart film-making.
Never in India has anyone dared to portray the holocaust and genocide (one of the several) that occured in India.
Actors have been brilliant too.
A must watch.
Sooryavanshi (2021)
Entertainer. Engrossing.
One main reason Sooryavanshi got low score from movie critics is because it is much less woke. Most movie critics are woke libtards. Great family entertainer. Keeps you seated through out. Actors did their good work, but strong script and direction made the film watchable.
Chhalaang (2020)
Boring, cringe-worthy and unrealistic
Although the story has been given a small town realistic rustic feel, everything in the film feels unrealistic. Raj Kumar Rao looks repetitive. Nushrat Bharucha looks too posh for a small Indian town. The small town Indian girl (Nushrat) asking for a drink and for a place to drink, being out of the house late night drinking and many such scenes of Libtardism were strewn across the film.
At certain places the film was really cringe-worthy - especially the scenes that had talented senior actors like Satish Kaushik, Saurabh Shukla and Ila Arun. Zeeshan Ayub as usual overacts.
Jack Reacher (2012)
Old school no nonsense action thriller
An enjoyable film. Excellent in every department. If you have ever enjoyed films where one hero beats the crap out of bad guys swiftly, manages to get attention of women, smart one liners, then you would like this movie too.
Pinjar: Beyond Boundaries... (2003)
Pinjar is a well-made Indian movie
Simplicity is the beauty of Pinjar. Well written and directed. Music to match. Excellent acting. A must watch that tells the tale of effect of Islamic aggression. No wonder this movie is not talked about in a so called Secular (pseudo) environment of India where you can't talk about such issues, even historical ones, openly. Kudos to film-maker Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
The Invention of Lying (2009)
Interesting
Watching this film was like reading a book! Ricky Gervais is truly talented. Same for co-writer, director, Matthew Robinson.
I read some reviews and many others have said nearly the same things about the film so there is no point in discussing that. Only one thing I found strange was - unless I misunderstood something - what was the Christian Church building doing in the film and why were Muslim men shown in one of the quick scenes? Was it because it is assumed that religion, especially Christianity and Islam are two true religions? As in these two religions exist and it is a known truth that their Gods exist(ed)?
Nanak Shah Fakir (2015)
Very slow. CGI of Guru Nanak was annoying
The film was very slow and boring. I found the the CGI Back or White contour (sometime silhouette) image of Guru Nanak Dev ji very distracting. Even a child watching next to me kept pointing that out. In fact, not showing the image of Guru Nanak ji is a misinterpretation of His teachings in early 1900s done most likely deliberately by the Sikh sect Tat Khalsa which ran on an anti Hindu ideology to create a unique identity of Sikhs, separate from Hindus despite the fact Guru Nanak ji was a born Hindu. This sect even violently destroyed non Sikh symbols, objects etc from Sikh temples in early 1900s.
Script was bad. Editing was bad. Screenplay was strange because perhaps having to Not show Guru ji's image. Camera placement or the viewing angles came out to be weird for the same reason. As screenplay was bad too, actors looked under-utilised. The two or three lead female actors in the film were literally hamming. Classical music was good but the background score was way to modern.
Good Boys (2019)
Funny yet low life
Good Boys was funny throughout yet it's distressing to see the priorities of kids. Entire plot boils down to kiss (sex). I am sure the makers could have chosen another theme (premise) like musical ambitions of one the central characters or race issues or pre-teenage issues of getting into secondary or high school or just plain bullying while keeping the low life perverted theme in the background, just as a distraction here and there.
Lucy (2014)
Great entertainer
Great entertainer. Just watch it for the fun of it. Watch it as Science Fiction only. Nothing more. Most concepts were whacky and I wouldn't go on writing an essay on proving them wrong or incomplete. People have written lengthy reviews already.
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Utter nonsense but enjoyable
Utterly nonsensical movie. But enjoyable. See it only from the 90s perspective. But if you love zombie video games, you might like it anyway. Everyone did alright in their respective roles. Juliette Lewis was the best.
Jeruzalem (2015)
Good attempt. Could have been better.
Watchable but I think the movie was way too quick and didn't build up the scare properly. The entire climax was very fast. Acting was not bad. Director did good job capturing Jeruselum very well. Just too quick.
247°F (2011)
Based on true events
The acting was not bad. It didn't feel like a low quality film due to cinematography. It was claimed that the story was based on true events so as a viewer it was easy to relate to as it all seemed quite possible in real life. Not scary but the viewer might want to watch it to the end to see what happens to the lead actors finally.
Sunrise (2014)
Film could have been better
Liked the plot and cinematography but the director and script writer couldn't do justice with it. A bit confusing film overall. Everytime it felt that the movie is becoming interesting, unbearably slow narrative killed the excitment soon after that. Climax was unusual and disappointing. The film left me high and dry.
Nightcrawler (2014)
Gripping thriller drama
I love the movie overall. This movie made me a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal. Excellent performance. Loved the unique plot and story of the movie. Excellently produced film with great script. Another thing I liked is that that the movie is not hard to understand even though the character of the lead i.e. Jake is highly complex. In entire film he just acts like next door maniac who suddenly found an evil purpose in life.
Safe House (2012)
Interesting fast moving thriller
Interesting watch. Didn't get boring at all. Denzel Washington has a great screen presence. Some people wouldn't find his role and acting unique as he has been seen in similar roles before. Ryan Reynolds was good in his part. The twists and turns were quite expected but what makes this movie interesting is the pace. You won't get bored at all.
Anand (1971)
A beautiful drama
A beautiful emotional drama with some of the most memorable songs. But might not appeal to current generation. You need to watch this movie from the point of view of era it was made in.
