Portrait de la jeune fille en feu (2019)
Dramatic, exquisite, profound, original.
One of my favourite films. My husband and I agreed we had never seen anything like it before - utterly gripped from start to finish. Soundtrack was stunning. I often listen to it now and am reminded of the dramatic scene on the beach with the island women singing together. There is a slow,
deep power that rises through this film and takes hold of you in a mysterious and memorable way. Made me weep and gasp at its beauty.
Dearest Jane (2015)
Imperfectly delightful and moving in its quirky sincerity
Clearly a low budget film with some 2nd rate acting - yet somehow it's sincerity and depth shines through all these cracks. The story was intriguing and the relationship between the girl and her uncle very moving. My husband and I were held by this movie from start to finish. Lovely soundtrack. The 2 main actors were excellent and convincing in their roles. Thought provoking and touching.
