State of Grace (1990)
Waiting for this to be available to stream
One of the best organized crime movies I have ever seen! I originally saw this 15 years ago and never forgot it. It wasn't available to stream until now, and I can watch it with my husband, finally.
The cast is superb. Gary Oldham and Sean Penn have an incredible symbiosis, and the rest of the cast is equally fine. It's a shame it was released around the time "Goodfellas" was dropped; that movie eclipsed every movie that year, and rightfully so. "State of Grace" is equally fine, and deserved a better debut.
Beautifully shot, masterfully written.
Please watch this movie, you won't regret it.
We Need to Talk About Sandy Hook (2014)
Sad
Obviously, everyone is entitled to view this "thing" that passes as a documentary and come up with their own opinions.
My opinion is this: WHY? Why would anyone, for any reason, want to subject the forever grieving parents of these small victims to more heartache? This is the worst of the worst. Half facts, downright false information, laughable logic and the extreme cruelty of the filmmakers and anyone who had anything to do with this monstrosity prove that there are people in this world who profit off others tragedy.
Plain and simple, this is just crap and the filmmakers know it.
Please don't watch this.
Keeper of the Ashes: The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders (2022)
Well Done
I thought this was done very well. Why does everyone have such horrible things to say about Kristin Chenowith? She grew up there, she was the same age as the girls, it was an horrific event that she's never forgotten. Back off, critics.
The Motive (2020)
Terrible!
The worst crime doc I've ever seen.
Looks like it was a student film. No point to this clunker, you learn nothing about "The Motive".
It should have been called "No Motive"
Why Did You Kill Me? (2021)
Well done but sad
Unlike most of the reviews of this documentary, mine is positive. I thought it was interesting but heartbreaking. I didn't feel anything negative about the mother, I pitied her. She was as much a victim as her daughter was. Her life circumstances didn't give her many choices as to how she was going to support herself and her children. She did what she knew how to do, and when she knew better, she did better. No judgment here.
All in all, I found this an interesting film. Sad, but a good glimpse into the lives of many people who drew the short end of the stick in life.
