Immaculate (2024)
Skip it
Just a straight boring movie following all the same tropes.
For all the hype Sydney Sweeney has gotten recently in this she is either flat and unconvincing or screaming... terrible over acted screaming. The other actors feel much more natural but a different casting wouldn't save this.
It's not scary in any way whatsoever. They try for a handful of jump scares that fall flat and the only thing is does well is some gore effects.
The only true upside is that the runtime was short, around an hour twenty so, at least I didn't waste to much of my time. Please don't waste yours though and skip it.
The Blackwell Ghost 7 (2022)
Losing the plot...
The previous films I really enjoyed. The natural found footage/vlog style really sold the whole story and always kept you wondering... could this be real, well not anymore. Right when this film starts it feels off with random cinematic camera shots that break the found footage immersion and kills that natural wonder the past 6 films had. Some of the original style is still present but the natural feeling is just gone. The story is becoming dumb with the main character living up to stupid horror tropes, at one point in the film he is given a multiple warnings and STILL goes to investigate a noise when in past films he wouldn't have, and also the final payoff is just silly more than scary.
Turner Clay if your reading this please know this comes out of love for your previous work. Please return to your original style, it was very unique and was what got me hooked on the series to begin with.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Trigger-me-timbers
Best comedy I've seen in a long time. The story follows Leather face the main protagonist just trying to deal with die hard anti gun blm activists moving into his town. He's the hero the town deserves and tries his best to keep them safe from the impending wokeness of left win America attempting to corrupt his town. I was cheering the whole movie and left in stiches laughing as the main group of gen z's struggle to cope being outside of their safe space.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Just dissapointing
People are just too hyped for the memberberries. The movie is just meh, boring for the first 3/4's of the movie and lacking in jokes and humor. Overall it was just a disappointment.
Mayday (2021)
People are just missing the point
As a right wing gun owning conservative cis man I must say... I liked this movie. I don't see why people are connecting feminism to this film. People have completely missed the point if they think it's about man hating and that is an incredibly shallow interpretation of the movie and which itself is almost the complete opposite.
Spoilers... It's about a woman dealing with abuse (probably a rape) and escaping into her mind where she meets different characters representing parts of herself and this is how she is coping with what happened. One character (Marsha) is technically man hater and attempts to make our main (Ana) the same as her and almost succeeds. It's important to see though that Marsha isn't a person, she's an emotion, Ana's hate. Ana's is trying to figure out how to direct the pain from her experience. She has a hate associated to what happened but she is also conflicted as well, and Marsha almost convinces her to be swallowed by the hatred but Ana realizes she can move past it.
This is probably a better message that is being overlooked. "In the dark I can still see the stars." Not all men are bad... or in a whole, not all people are bad. She has a boyfriend that is caring and loving towards her and she almost loses him to the blind hate, but she makes her way back to see that he is not bad. She also grows and is stronger and more confident personally to finish out the film.
The fact the people are misinterpreting this film is the exact problem which society now and why probably people won't grow like Ana. Subgroups of humanity are not all fully bad.
Candyman: Shadow Puppets (2020)
Woke horror
Huge waste of a great franchise and of course it had to be twisted full of woke crap.
The Good Doctor: She (2018)
Don't know if we can continue watching this.
This used to my wife and mines favourite show but this has gone way off the rails. Now the show is forcing its political agenda instead of telling a great story with its characters.
Oldboy (2013)
Lacking the grittiness of the original title
This is pretty tame compared to the original, some of the original scene reenactments are just goofy. The original "love story" and growth of characters is lacking as well.
The scoring in whole film is one of the reasons I feel it looses most of its seriousness because of its very clique "mystery movie" sound, one of the chase scenes is so clique to almost sounding like a family movie.
Some "items" such as phones and such seem so blatantly placed they are probably product placement. Iphones, macbooks, using Shazam on a iphone ext.
There are top name actors in this film and sadly it could probably have been good if it was just executed better. Some scenes feel rushed lacking quality even from Samuel L Jackson.
Mediocre piece of film compared to the original masterpiece. I don't know why but whenever north America does a remake of a Korean/Asian film it loses it seriousness and just ends up silly.
Drag Me to Hell (2009)
Why do people think is movie is so good.
Okay I ask this. Why do I hear that the Amity ville horror is a good movie and then watch it and see how bad, unsuspenseful, and easy to read it is then watch the haunting in Connecticut and see how good it is and then hear from everyone that loves Amity ville that its bad. Am I missing something here. A good movie with lots of suspense, sudden scares, and open endedness to the horrors that lurk within is called bad by everyone. Then a movie where they show the main antagonist the in the first 2 mins as the antagonist LOL SUSPENSE THERE WAS NONE! fear THERE WAS NONE! you see it in its true form. No imagination for you! movie called good. This is where I get to this movie.
This movie is the 2nd movie. The beginning looks really promising but as the story started to develop it got hokey, goofy and down right stupid. The writing/acting was terrible!!! "(Cry cry) I did it. I killed that poorly little kitty(wa wa)" The writing so awkward and non disturbing like seriously. Right after watching that scene I paused the movie I wrote down on a page how it should have sounded. She quite "I did it... I DID OKAY. I KILLED MY CAT... MY CAT THAT I LOVE AND ADORE... SO WHY THE F*** IS THIS STILL HAPPENING TO ME (crying and desperate) I MURDERED MY F***ING CAT!" Also please take into account it would be real acting the acting in drag me to hell was so fake and bland.
And the twist... (spoiler the movie just sucks but yea anyway) the button that was like a 20 degree turn. Of course she drops a drops all the papers down in here car so your like okay well its mixed into there shes obviously got the wrong one there shes in the restaurant with it you can tell its not the button in there so your waiting for the end of the movie and it comes and then hes like bam is wasn't in your car it was in your pocket but its okay its the same ending anyway you die hahahaaaa! Just bottom line disappointing. And everyone loves it just cause of the director! Maybe he made he made a twilight adaption movie as well. I bet you guys would love it!
Max Payne (2008)
Great movie. Okay video game adaptation. Sadly lacking.
I went into Max Payne with hi hopes and the movie delivered for me. At first I was confused about the angels and demons thing and how it would be related to the game. They actually make it all work very well. Its roughly related to the game as in it keeps the of the basic idea but certain scenes and characters from the game are not present :( (Sadly Vlad is not in the movie. They had great special effects and the mood of the movie really matched the grittiness of game. The only this that disappointed me was there wasn't enough major gun fights and any some of the bullet time sequences from the game. But don't get me wrong the movie did have bullet time in it. Just not to the extent I wanted. The shots they did have of it thought were amazing! They leave room for a second movie which I hope they do. One thing completely missing from the movie were pain killers! The signature mark in the game... oh well thou. Its not a big thing... its kinda like saying the Doom movie didn't have the health dispensers :P. Overall if your a fan of the game you will love this movie and if you haven't played the game I encourage you to and also see the movie. If not thou its still a great movie.
