The King of Fighters (2009)
I must say: Entirely Mediocre !
I've just watched recently & I must say The King Of Fighters movie is a pile of junk, it's not even the miscast problem but the whole thing in this movie is extremely mediocre. & this is the worst movie I've ever seen in 2010, thank God I didn't have any expectation at all on this because I knew it... OK, from my point of view why the whole thing is mediocre is from the story itself were inarticulate & slight over from the game(Sigh, video games adaptation), the setting isn't appealing & clearly out of the budget, special effects are way too flashy & completely stupid looking, little fight scenes & yet too short, & the most bugged me is the miscast of the characters. Here's my opinion:
Mai Shiranui: Maggie Q ruined the character a lot. Nothing look alike from Mai which got a trademark sexy bouncing boobs, yet she didn't have any Japanese style at all. In here she's depicted to be carefree & serious, not funny like in the game. The fighting style were inartistic & she didn't feel like a good fighter. Mai as main character is fail, totally fail.
Kyo Kusanagi: Sean Faris really destroyed the character with his inappropriate looks which is Caucasian ! Here his role is inarticulate, he didn't have his Kusanagi flame trademark, he's incredibly weak to be a fighter, & his fighting style is pathetic. Funny thing, his young version is Asian in here. Gordon Chan... This is a big mistake of what you've done to Kyo Kusanagi.
Iori Yagami: Even though Will Yun Lee is Asian he's not suitable to be Iori Yagami, yet, stupid hair cut that he had. Here he act like a rich man & charismatic, his personality is serious & good. Unfortunately in the game he's a violent person. Actually, I kinda like his character if he's not Iori in here. The fighting style is pathetic like Kyo but skillful than Kyo, his special effects are way too flashy & why blue? The reason why I want to watch this movie, is because of my curiosity on Iori turning to Orochi Iori. & Honestly only this thing that cheered me when watching this flick, unfortunately I hate the story why he got the Orochi blood. Too bad, Iori is also my favorite character.
Terry Bogard: Not again, one of my favorite character... Another failed attempt for him, especially making him as an CIA agent, again besides not resembles to Terry. David Leitch really annoyed me, & horrible acting that he played. Plain stupid & totally fail for him.
Rugal Bernstein: Ray Park as Rugal? Thank you Gordon Chan for messing the KOF film & turned down the fans... Rugal here is just another big failure like other characters in here. his villain role in here is depicted to be a powerful fighter with crazy & merciless personality, not charismatic like in the game. In here it is shown that he treat the lady horribly even killing Chizuru & the statue that he had is super mediocre... Definitely not Rugal at all.
Chizuru Kagura: Again & again... OK, I'll just say my opinion on her in here. My thought she's boring but since her role isn't big I kinda confused to judge her completely, yet Chizuru wasn't my favorite character so I don't know much about her.
Vice & Mature: I think their character were too resembles like other video games adaptation, being a henchmen for the bad guy. So, they're completely boring IMO.
Saisyu Kusanagi: Hahaha, he's nothing look alike with his son at all... & funny thing he looked like an comedian instead of fighter. The rest... Well, just like other video games adaptation about family relationship in martial arts. & that's boring once again IMO.
That's all that I can say about the characters, & after u read this you'll be noticed that none of the characters in here were resembles like in the game, but that's just my opinion. Lastly if you loved the games so much(KOF fans), this is a big mistake for you to watch it. Even for action lovers this film had a few action scenes, yet it is short & stupid IMO... But that's up to you whether you want it or not, just judge them by yourself.
Tekken (2010)
Great action movie but poor made....
I've been expecting this flick years ago & luckily it was released in my country. Okay, the movie itself contains a great action scenes & the looks of the character is good enough, but the story is crap(mostly bothers me)... The story made the actions feel useless, & it's very different compare to the game.(Well, Hollywood...) Let say it now, story are completely unclear to me even though it is a simple plot about vengeance. This movie is too much focusing on 1 character making other character's role got ignored... & here's what I've saw:
Christie Monteiro: Yes, yes... Indeed she's hot & most people like this flick because of the looks(& action) & she's one of them, though she's not the right choice for Christie... Kelly Overton looks better to be Julia Chang instead of Christie IMO.
Kazuya Mishima: His appearance is too far to be near from the game because some of his looks seems unnecessary & personality(mainly). Actually Ian Anthony Dale is perfect to be Kazuya, but here they made him like an retarded guy.
Heihachi Mishima: Now, one of the character that appeared in the entire game. His personality is nowhere from the game even his looks didn't espouse him to be a skilled fighter. Before watching this flick I'm expecting he would do 1 of his signature moves which he's punch down then strike the enemy with his straight fist.
Raven: I don't know much about him in the game since I only played TEKKEN 1, 2, & 3, but judging by the looks Darrin Dewitt Henson looks perfect to be Raven even though I didn't like his outfit, & for the fighting style, I found some of his moves are inartistic.
Jun Kazama: I personally think Tamlyn Tomita looks ugly to play as Jun, even her voice didn't help her to fit her as Jun. In here she looks older than Kazuya, of course Tamlyn is 44 & Ian is 32. Her appearance in here bugged this movie a lot... Actually in the game I like her specially her basic roundhouse kick which she inherit to her son then I became more enjoyable on using Jin.
Marshall Law: 1 of things that bugged this movie, & the actor has no resemblance with Law/Bruce Lee wannabee at all. In here his personality seems a bit disgracing as Bruce Lee wannabee & his fighting style is completely inartistic.
Steve Fox: In here he rolled as supporting character. I personally Don't know much about him in the game. Unfortunately after I've saw his looks from the game, Luke Goss has no resemblance at all. IMO if he's not considered as Steve I'd probably like his character....
Bryan Fury: Well, his actions made this movie became more enjoyable for me to be watch. The actor had a good looks & performance to be Bryan, unfortunately his skin must be a bit pale, in the movie he looks nothing like a half robot IMO.
Miguel Caballero Rojo: Don't know much about him since I only know important character in the game. To be honest I didn't like his appearance in here.
Eddy: Though his role is very small, at least the actor had a good looks & performance on playing Eddy.
Nina Williams: She's a bit resembles to Nina but apart from her character & story from the game. Here, her role is gone with no reason how she was ended.
Anna Williams: She's just a mere eye candy for this movie. Well, I personally liked her looks in this movie....
Yoshimitsu: I like him in TEKKEN 3 & I'm glad when they chose his design from the 3rd, & he had a good performance in the movie unfortunately his fighting style is nowhere near from the game yet the story too. One more thing the costume is cheap IMO.
Sergei Dragunov: Same like Miguel, but he's not that worst than Miguel IMO & some of his moves were artistic enough.
Jin Kazama: Finally... Jon Foo's acting is quite good, his performance is great though he's nothing look like Jin from the voice, & fighting style. I don't know much what kind of style he got in here except his practice before some opponent, my opinion some of his moves when fighting his opponent seems inartistic. Lastly, I personally think Jon Foo's looks in here, were resembles to me instead of Jin....
That's for the character & for the setting them-self, are cheap the arena looks junkie & some stuff are mostly fake, making this movie described as a low budget. & the other setting on the street where Jin's lived exactly looks like an low area in 90's compare to 2039. Lastly for anyone who loved actions I'd suggest you to watch since it contains lots of action scenes but if you're a fans or not much loved action scenes... Judge them by your vision. In my country not many people like this movie either fans or not.
2012 (2009)
Really resembles to Independence Day IMO, but...
First up this movie invites lot's of people who wants to see it because it's 2012 thing where they called judgment day/doomsday/the end of the world. After watching this flick, I myself think this movie is simple, & nothing special... From the disaster storyline that I saw is like watching ID but with different plot, dunno about Roland's other disaster movies since I only watch ID. What I'm really expecting 4 this movie is only on the CGI, & Special Effects thing, nothing more & all of them came up pretty awesome...
From my point of view, 2012 thing it's just a plain a stupid prediction from stupid people but many people believe it though... My question is why did they believe in unpredicted human history instead believing in God? Back to the movie, although it's pretty resembles to ID at least it's better than ID a bit... It had a really touching scene, decent CGI angle, & a perfectly well made design of sub-marine ship but the glitch is lack of humor... The character of this movie also resembles to ID where there's 2 protagonist IMO Adrian(black) & Jackson(white), but ID got 3 IMO(the president, pilot, & computer expert)... But 2012 also got president but as supporting character, when I presuming before watching I thought he also a leading character... But it doesn't make any sense why he would die... Why staff & any others didn't by him? He's a president, right? In ID the president's safety is really concerned a lot...
I guess that's all that I can say because I don't really like this movie... & yeah, 158 minutes is a plain nothing....
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)
Hmm... Quite surprising but not really special....
Title is surprising ever-since I've never heard about G.I. Joe saga anymore around 10 years ago in my country, so I really expecting for this movie since I like G.I. Joe in my childhood. Too bad I really forgot how did I like them so I know zero about G.I. Joe, also Stephen Sommers were involved to direct this flick after we know some of his movies.(The Jungle Book, The Mummy/Returns, Van Helsing) The movies itself is not bad it contains full of action packed that really enjoyable to be watch, but like reviews said I agree that some CGI looks nothing real & the story seems plain simple + I believed why fans didn't like it is some story & character's seems not entirely correct to the real saga. I personally thinks the character's looks fine specially The Baroness she looks wonderful & I was really expecting for the next sequel that will involves her being with G.I. Joe. The real retarded story for me is only back story of Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow, why in the world those cheeky balded master really expecting Snake Eyes to be win from his brother instead of cheering Storm Shadow too? He only gave a plain cold atmosphere on Storm Shadow, so I think it's really invited Storm Shadow to earns his jealousy. But it doesn't make any sense why only jealousy makes him kill his own master? However, I don't really by on the flaw since G.I. Joe is not from a Japanese creators so I don't care how Hollywood ruined them with an exception white scumbag being ended with Asian gal. Sequels? Yeah, I'm waiting... Hope it turns more better than this....
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
The only movie that made me love X-men stuff.
This movie is definitely became my favorite movie of all time, even though I'm not a fan of X-men stuff. Wolverine/Logan(Hugh Jackman) is pretty damn awesome in here I feel like wolverine's personality is a bit same to me to be honest. Although the story is simple & about vengeance is all the way, but the "Wolverine" history is really touching for Logan when he shows his disillusion to Kayla(Lynn Collins). The movie itself i marvelous IMO from the effects, CGI but they got too many goof that we can clearly see. The acting is very well made, Hugh Jackman did a pretty damn marvelous work to rolled Wolverine/Logan by his roar, scream, battle cry, & his personality. 2ndly Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed, he is the most awesome villains act ever. However, judging from the character in the movie, I personally think Victor's character became too weak when he fought Wolverine/Logan in his new form of weapon X, & it seems like after Wolverine/Logan received his weapon X he became more skillful in battle. I'd really want them became a very top tier rival for sure... As for the rest were also great like David North/Agent Zero(Daniel Henney): he is great as a ruthless villain & being good a shooter, Remy LeBeau/Gambit(Taylor Kitsch): I just can't stop laughing to see him got knocked out by Wolverine/Logan by one elbow but too bad his roles is too damn minor, Fred Dukes: I really like when he's miss-understanding Wolverine/Logan calling "Bub" to be "Blob" is pretty damn hilarious specially for Wolverine/Logan's line "I didn't call him Blob, I said Bub", William Stryker/Danny Huston: To be honest Danny Huston don't look like a villain character but somehow it fit to him since I personally hate to see his face as Stryker, Kayla Silverfox(Lynn Collins): hmm... She's fresh from her look & it suits well to be paired with Hugh Jackman, I really like her cries when Wolverine/Logan shows his disillusion to her but the worst is I don't want her die, because I personally tought Hugh Jackman & Lynn Collins could be a great couple. Also her little sister is look nothing like her at all + I don't like her leaving her sister like that without checking what's going on on her sister, & Wade Wilson(Deadpool): In the first he's pretty damn annoying by his mouth, & love it of what Stryker did to him to make him Weapon XI & hilariously sewing his big mouth. I think that's all that I can say & to people who read this I'd suggest u to watch this movie if u haven't watched. Lastly I can't believe it there's a sequel! Can't wait for the sequel....
Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! (2008)
Not bad at all but I didn't see any comedy....
I just watch this yesterday after bought the DVD 2 days ago. I was so excited to see this movie since I'm a horror maniac & curious to see how those chicks deals with the zombies. OK, judging from the script, the story is fine but the glitch is I didn't see any comedy stuff in this film. Almost everything were familiar like other zombie movies, it resembles to Night of the living dead in the scene of Dallas & Chris getting away from zombies to find some help, & Dawn of the dead in the scene of hiding themself into the night club(mall in DOTD). What I really like is the scene of the stripper's dancing & the strippers fighting with the zombies. That is freak'n awesome especially Jessica Barton, she's too damn hot in this film. But too bad her role is too minor when fighting with the zombies imo... As for the CGI & the effects I'll be honest that they were poorly made especially the blood which looks exactly like strawberry jam, some stabbed zombie, & some zombie explosion. Well, I guess that's all I can say 'bout this movie but my personal thought is I'd really expecting some sequel that shown more of Jessica Barton's acting, because I really like her. & as long as she's there, who cares if the movie would be low budget or terribly made.
Perkins' 14 (2009)
Like it on the beginning, Hate it on the ending....
For once I thought this film is telling a father who will manage to fight his own fear to understand the situation of his son from being one of a perkin's victim. Yet I was wrong, he's weaker than he looks... The first scene till the middle scene is clearly shown that he's great & I'm startin' to admire his bravery. However, in the middle to the end the father become completely an idiot by letting a prisoner go out by herself, killing his partner for being weak in the critical situation, her wife crawling alone I thought he will accompany her from behind in darkness, & for being weak with his son. I understand for his feeling but need to know that the son is missing around 10 years so it would be hard to recognize his father since the son is still a little brat when he's kidnapped, also his mind is totally screwed. Ahh... Honestly I really like this movie actually in the beginning but hate it when going to the end, it's so terrible for the character's roles.... Overall the movie itself is not so bad from the environment even though the camera angle sucks, & what I really like is the prologue... The case of the father for missing his son is totally outstanding, & the middle of the movie were good. Also the mother is hot, too bad she's a slut! Then the followed scene to the last at the building were sucks as hell! The ending came to be like that, so is there any plan for a sequel? I think it will need for exterminating + mutilate the 14 victims....
The Forbidden Kingdom (2008)
The duo J is the main reason why I love this film....
On the beginning I was very excited on this movie after surfing this sites since the duo J is collaborate together, but my wish did not came true for expecting this movie became ****ing marvelous ever since the story is monotone + get it away those white guts he don't deserve to be exist!!! I personally think his appearance is ruined the entire scene. English talk? You gotta be ****'n kidding me... Yes, this is main reason the movie is ruined because of his appearance, if he can speak Chinese I probably still tolerate it but still white guts don't match at all to play in ancient China story(not being racist). Also Yifei Liu's role is just a pile of junk since I personally think her role is not important at all & incredibly boring, family got assassinated & swore for a vengeance. Okay, that's enough for the stupid critics here I go to discuss this movie, overall is okay the setting is good, the effect is decent to be match & the marvelous thing is the fight scene between the duo J, this is the reason why I love this movie if they're not I'd never want to watch this crap. However the other fight scene with others is completely overrated IMO. Right now I just wishing there's another movie that will involve Jackie Chan & Jet Li I hope it would be better than this one....
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)
Awesome but Predictable....
I was expecting this movie last year ago by surfing this site, since I'm loving the Mummy movies specially Jet Li were involved with Brendan Fraser. By the movie them self were actually good in a cgi, action, comedy, & the setting of the Mummy in China. However the story for some reason are predictable precisely resembles to the previous Mummy films, even the plot it's too simple in my opinion & some were ridiculous & doesn't make sense like how the hell the Emperor(Jet Li) became as a horse rider Terracota Mummy. The actor plays good specially the returning Brendan Fraser as Rick & John Hannah as Jonathan(at least they're making this movie became hilarious). My glitch on some characters in this movie is Isabella Leong which is a bit annoying in some scene & her character were too damn boring also I didn't like her end up being with Alex maybe it's just me since I never like Asian gal with white guts but I didn't being a racist, Russell Wong's face as Emperor's general doesn't suit well since he's mixed between western, the main priority is Maria Bello as Evelyn the character of her in this story makes her being an unimportant character compare to her previous movies & the personality were different than the previous one nothing look alike. I bet most people disappointed by Rachel Weisz absence, but even if she's returned I think won't change anything... Luke Ford as Alex seems like Rick's brother compare to Rick's son & he's too old for Alex role the only thing that I like was his voice. The General Yang's girl Jessey Meng as Choi are too ridiculous in her whole scenes, why General Yang left her when escaping with the Emperor & this makes her role are not necessary to be in, but unlike Ancksunamun in The Mummy Returns she's more loyal to General Yang... & Jet Li as the Emperor were decent & I was expecting the battle between Jet Li & Brendan Fraser but it's kinda disappointing since Jet Li seems weakling(dunno what exactly to say in properly since English isn't my language) himself in the end. Lastly they're too much using effects in this movie specially for Jet Li's role as the mummy in terracotta are too overused compare to the previous mummy movies, & makes his role in person were not worthy compare to the premiere arts... However if the previous mummy movies doesn't exist or this movie are not considered as "The Mummy" I think this movie were brilliant, might just need to re-write the script I guess... Now let's just hope the next mummy movies won't disappointing again even though I'm not really sure....
