Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Saw this at the cinema and it gets two thumbs up
I've watched a lot of movies lately, even the Joker, which everyone is raving about. Personally, I found the Joker a bit bland, and found the new Terminator had me excited during the action scenes and laughing at some funny and corny moments. There were a few points where it was noticeable that they needed to insert kind of complicated explanations as to why and how the story-line was even possible (you know, like how things came from the future given what has happened before etc), but you can move past these bits and accept the new timeline and the possibilities these now offer for future Terminator films.
What Death Leaves Behind (2018)
7.1! Nah, more like a 5
Certainly not a totally crappy film, but I probably could have used the time to watch something else. I could see it possibly breaking into the 6's, but a 7 rating kinda looks like somethings amiss.
Interstellar (2014)
THE. BEST. MOVIE. I. HAVE. EVER. SEEN. PERIOD.
This movie is an absolute masterpiece in every sense. Essential viewing if you get the chance. Enough said.
Luce (2019)
Well produced movie. 6.5 out of 10
It's a pretty simple story line, but there's a couple of tweaks to it which elevates it. Plus the way it's been produced really improves the viewing experience. It's not super great, but was an enjoyable watch and did have me guessing at a few points.
The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young (2014)
7.8! Not
I like running, like I do loads every week and run ultras, so this movie was right up my alley. The race that the movie is focused on is pretty legendary so I was quite keen to see the movie. While it was worth the watch and interesting, it's certainly not 7.8!
Nekrotronic (2018)
Classic aussie/kiwi humour
There were a lot of laugh out loud moments. On the verge of being b-grade shot, but still within the realms of what it was trying to achieve- an easy going, satirical, horror/comedy from Oz. It kind of reminded me of Jackson's early "Bad Taste" in it's style and content. Towards the back third of the film, it lost me a little, but overall it was a cheerful watch.
Kill Chain (2019)
Worth a watch
When it started, the opening credits looked pretty amateurish and I didn't have high hopes. But as it developed it got better and better. Still not incredible but a solid 5 rating action and worth a watch for a reasonably interesting story-line.
The Refuge (2019)
Fake reviews, don't be fooled
This is absolutely not a 7.5 rated film. It's one of those "written by, directed by, produced by, edited by, casting by, starring.... you guessed it, the same person". Terrible writing, acting. Must be a lot of reviews from the "star's" friends as its a solid 3 star film and worth skipping.
Fractured (2019)
Superb movie, actually kind of moved me
I liked this movie enough that it compelled me to join IMDb to write a review. Seriously- it was that good. I won't give it away, but it had a lot to keep you guessing. Th end was brilliant too- really brought it all together and made me feel quite moved. One of the best films I've seen for a while.
The Royal Hibiscus Hotel (2017)
Absolute rubbish
I'm always on the hunt for a good Rom Com to watch with my wife. This had a review score over 6, so we gave it a crack. We literally stopped watching it after 10 minutes. Rubbish acting, like cringe worthy acting. I don't know who reviewed this with high scores in the past, but it's not worth the watch. The acting was just "that bad". Plus the story, as far as we watched was just terrible, b-grade stuff.
