Kindred (2022)
Great Book, interesting series.
I read the book years ago and found it fascinating and deeply affecting, as any book trying to convey the experience of slavery, especially through the eyes of a modern character, would be.
With only 8 episodes, Season One barely scratches the surface of the book.
Spoilers
It was an interesting choice by the producers to bring Dana's mother into the story. It adds texture and complexity to her family history.
I don't agree with their choice to chop off Dana's and Kevin's personal history by having them meet just as the story begins. It isn't credible that Kevin would stick around for the craziness of time travel to the antebellum South.
The actors all do a magnificent job of bringing the characters to life.
I look forward to the next season!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
I miss iron man
I prefer sci fi to fantasy, so the magic elements just don't do it for me. I miss the older avengers movies. All the cool characters have been killed off in the MCU. I'm just so tired of the hero always dying. Sigh.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
This is why I was a Trekkie
Boring and it drags. Nothing really seems to happen. And even though they used James Earl Jones' voice for Vader, the digitized version lacks the resonance that made his original performance so memorable.
The first Star Wars movie back in '77 was good, but they've all been garbage ever since, just repeating the same tired old story over and over, ad infinitum.
Once Upon a Time (2011)
Great for six seasons, but
Season 7 was clearly the long-promised zombie season (of Lost).
Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Nice Tribute to David Cassidy
The film is bookended by the song "Come On Get Happy", which was the theme song for the TV series The Partridge Family. The series starred, and the lead singer on the song was David Cassidy, who passed away eight months before the film was released. Both this film and The Partridge Family we're set in San Francisco.
One World: Together at Home (2020)
Where is the part that was broadcast on TV???
I missed this and wanted to watch what I thought was a reasonable length, Star-studded concert. But I can't find it!
All I found was a six hour marathon of people I mostly never heard of promising a big concert , which never happened. This was only available on YouTube. Then I found an eight-hour version of the same stupid show, which I guess has the good part at the end. Of course streaming means I can't fast forward through the six hours of garbage to get to the good stuff.
On demand and streaming have ruined video for me.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Wagon train to the stars
Formulaic Western in space, but not as appealing as original Star Trek, which is why Star Trek vs. Star Wars was a thing.
Why must every scene be so dark? Do you mind if I see the action?
And is Star Lord missed they are blatantly stealing from his story?
But it's the IT show, so I feel compelled to watch it when Season Two comes out in 2027 ...
Batman & Robin (1997)
Chill out, haters!
Batman movies, like Trix, are for kids. Some reviewers seem to have forgotten that.
Why, though, do each of the movies have a different actor playing Batman? The inconsistency is jarring.
Now just relax and enjoy the film.
