The film is quirky and somewhat stays true to the game. The cast is unhinged to the point where it works. Sure there are some cliches here with the story and then as well as character flaws but the film paces itself well and delivers a well rounded family film. Jack Black does the absolute best with what he is given as well as Jason does. Both of them lead the project with grace. As for some of the supporting characters, they seem to have a few tropes that were heard of before. I've played Minecraft for 10+ years and this is the best version of film we're going to get at this high of budget. Is the film perfect, no. But it is indeed quite enjoyable.
As someone who saw the film. I'll give you my honest opinion, it was pretty good. Sure yeah, the story could've been better but that is besides the point. The film delivered what it was supposed to deliver, a good story about a vampire who lusts have a woman named Ellen and will do absolutely anything to get to her. The cinematography, production, costume, make-up, and music are a part of the film that keeps you watching. The performances alone are worth noting as well. Lily Rose Depp absolutely kills it as the lead actress, the only critique for acting is that Aaron Taylor-Johnson overdoes his acting in most of the scenes he is in and that pulls me out of it. The film isn't much of a horror but more of a drama, which works. The length of the film is basic to usual movie length, I didn't find the film to be boring or a slow pace because I was brought into the world of Nosferatu. Other reviews say that Count Orlok's looks is much different than the original, and while that is true, it is more accurate to the portrayal in Bram Stoker's novel. Overall, the film is well done and full of great technicalities and performances. If you're a fan of drama/horror you'll enjoy this film. Though, I would watch one of Robert Egger's films before viewing this masterfully done film.
The game was a surprisingly pleasant experience despite what a lot of the reviews are saying. From the beginning I had no problem following along with the story and legacy of Cal Kestis. The wonderful scenery and continuous acrobatics as well as fighting enemies were very fun to do! The storyline was well written and played out, the only thing I'll have to complain about is later in the game when you're trying to figure out your way around. At one point the map keeps you in a circle. I cannot wait and hope the creators continue the story, where Jedi are found and texts saved. I loved this game despite its flaws I hope the makers realize the mistakes and learn from it. Cannot wait for more!
