The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022)
Cinema at its Best!
Been anticipating to watch this movie for three years now. In the end it was so much worth the wait. Flawless direction, some brilliant acting all around, amazing action sequences and the compelling storyline makes it a masterpiece of Pakistani Cinema. It's called pure talent when you can pull off such intense action along with humorous content. All done in such good taste. Hats off Bilal Lashari. The characters in the negative roles literally gave me goosebumps. Iconic dialogues of Nasir Adeeb play homage to the original characters with modern day twists. Proud moment for Pakistani and Punjabi audiences.
Superstar (2019)
A beautiful coming of age cinema story!
Thank you for making this wonderful move Momina Duraid Productions and Mohammad Ehtasham uddin, the director. Mahira Khan has never looked better. She looks like a vision and dances like a dream. This will be a game changer movie for her. The chemistry of Noori(Mahira Khan) and Sameer Khan(Bilal Ashraf) is out the roof. Their characters are so in sync and effortlessly blended together. Ali Kazmi is great as always playing Shaan. Azan Sami khan, the music and screen play prodigy- hats off. "Inn Dinoun" and "Be Karan" are my jam these days. Nadeem Baig the legend brings such a heart warming character to life. So good to see Marina Khan in a lovely cameo after eons. Javaid Sheikh and Asma Noor Abbas at their absolute best. I really enjoyed "Chutki's" character, her expressions are on point.
Not a big fan of "Dharak Bharak!" but the rest are on my playlist. Good luck team Super Star!
Heer Maan Ja (2019)
An Azfar Jafri Masterpiece!
Went into the theatre to get entertained and left with a big silly smile plastered on my face. I was clapping at the hilarious scenes and literally laughing out loud. Go watch it as a mindless comedy and with just the right amount of intense drama/action/fight scenes to keep you entertained. Hareem and Ali Rehman(Heer & Kabir) looked super cool and so natural together. The characters of Cherry and Ramzy are so funny. Loved the cameos by Amina Sheikh(Gangsta Saba), Ali Kazmi and Mikaal Zulfiqar. The title song I am not a big fan of and also gets a little dragged at the end but all in all a great entertainment. Go watch it NOW!
Parey Hut Love (2019)
A Colorful and Beautiful Journey!
I have been a fan of Shehreyar Munawwar Siddiqui(actor/producer) and Asim Raza's(director) dynamic duo since "Ho Mann Jahan." Paray Hut Love" is a bigger and more colorful movie following the life journey of Shehreyar & Saniya. Beautiful destination weddings decor, dresses(by Omer Syed) and dance numbers. The story has all the elements, tastefully done comedy, struggles of an aspiring actor and demons that haunt you as a person due to traumatic incidents in your childhood and unattainable dreams. Would highly recommend it. The story could have been more stronger. Another element I must appreciate the inclusion of minorities in the movie(The Parsi family rituals and weddings).
Five thumbs up!
Parwaaz Hai Junoon (2018)
Beautiful combination of Romance and Patriotism/PAF themes.
What a beautiful story! Blown away by the stellar cast, beautiful locations, action scenes, costumes and choreography. Hania Aamir is a talented goddess. Hamza and Ahad Raza Mir are beyond perfect. Five thumbs up.
Teefa in Trouble (2018)
A comic action masterpiece!
Flawless acting, production, cast and direction. So proud as a Pakistani they such movies are being churned out of our beloved home. Can watch it over and over again. Available on Netflix.
Cake (2018)
A great flick that breaks taboos!
A very strong subject addressing a lot of issues that are conveniently shoved under the carpet in our society. So proud of Pakistani movies. Beautiful acting by Amina Sheikh, Sanam Saeed and Adnan Malik. Rana Zafar and Muhammad Ahmad are very cute together.
Ho Mann Jahaan (2015)
A feel good film!
Love the friends concept. Jiggars through thick and thin and then the classic love triangle. Powerhouse performances by Sheryar Munawar, Mahira Khan and Adeel. Loved the songs too.
Baaji (2019)
A Saqib Malik Masterpiece!
I have already watched Baaji in the cinema twice. Makes me feel so proud as a Pakistani that we are now producing World class movies. A roller coaster ride of emotions, laughs, drama, thrills and a beautiful rags to riches story. The stellar cast is a dream team who collectively created magic on the screen. No dull moment in the movie from the get go. Beautiful catchy songs and costumes make it a memorable one. Not to be missed, go grab your tickets now!
Sherdil (2019)
A ground breaking film that will go down in History as one of the revival fils of Lollywood!
While everyone watches any given movie their own way I would STRONGLY suggest you watch Sherdil a couple of times to grasp the true essence of this masterpiece. I watched it twice in the theatre two days in a row and I was blown away by some of the key elements I completely missed the first day. I know this might sound crazy but this is the kind of power some of the biggest Hollywood movies like "Inception" and "Interstellar" have. For me a strong cast makes or breaks a film. Loved all the stars perfect for the characters even the debutantes. The only reason I ended up rating it 9/10 is Armeenah Rana Khan. She was just a pretty face with zero expressions. But I am glad at least she was good in the songs. Saving grace. Nomaan Khan is a maestro of his crafts. Well written and produced and the direction of Azfar Jaffery is the icing on the cake. Dog fights are the BEST part of the movie, followed by very intelligent comedy and emotional connect/patriotism shown by the AirForce. Lovely family movie. Five thumbs up. Can't wait to watch it again.
