Valorant (2020)
Gameplay is good, but...
Slowpaced fps gameplay compared to other title and it is free to play, which is a bonus. Apart from that, weapon design and graphics are really really bad. Tbh it looks like a mobile game being transitioned to pc.
On top of that it has the most toxic community of any online game, according to surveys.
It should be mentioned that most fps games with a ranking system has extremely toxic communities overall and since the consequences of vitriolic behavior are as good as non-existent it will gradually alienate big parts of the player base.
If you want to relax and have a good time, then this game is not something for you.
Vikings: Valhalla (2022)
Netflix abusing my etnic heritage!
As a norwegian and student of viking history I was shocked to see wokeness finding its way into my country's history. A female black jarl in Norway, during the viking period whilst using a historically correct last name of the person is nothing short of disgusting. If this was all fantasy and a work of fiction, I wouldn't even raise an eyebrow, but this is taking it too far...sorry!
Shûmatsu no Valkyrie (2021)
Rubbish!
Tor, the thunder god of my native country, Norway goes up against some chinese hero, named Lu Bu and I thought "How the flying fu** does this relate to Norse mythology or Ragnarok for that matter? It's so bad I would rather spend time watching paint dry!
Trese (2021)
Good characters, flat dialogs and mediocre animation
I enjoyed, Trese, but it felt way too rushed. Both the story and the animations sadly fell victim this. Dialogues were somewhat flat and the animations should have been way more fluid. When you look at series like Castlevania, Trese just pales in comparison. Interesting lore pushes it up to a 6 for me, but thats about it.
Rugal (2020)
Brilliant!
The South Koreans know how to make their series. After watching Smokin, Mr.Sunshine, Arthdal Chronicles and amazing movies like The Host, Old Man and Parasite to name a few, it became clear to me that South Korean movie making steers clear of the typical Hollywood stereotypes and clichés. Even though the story in Regal unravels slowly, it has more depth as the season comes closer to the end. As most South Korean films and series, they always tend to have an emotional depth, that western films and series lack. Love doesn't always have to be shown as people jumping into bed 2 or 3 times each episode like in most American productions. The south koreans showed one of the most in depth emotional love stories with Mr.Sunshine, without any physical contact between the protagonist and his "chosen " one.
Rugal manages to build up an deep emotional bond between the different characters and how it evolves over time. The fighting scenes are very well coordinated, and makes the team look badass, but they still get hurt and they all have their weaknesses.
Regal is certainly no masterpiece, but its a well made and entertaining series which hopefully will see an upcoming season sequel next year.
