Red, White & Royal Blue (2023)
it's not perfect, but it is a 10.
If you have not yet read the book: you will LOVE this movie and you should read the book AFTER watching the movie. Also... stop reading rn so you don't get the wrong idea and think I believe RWRB is anything less than a masterpiece.
But if you have, you deserve a warning that this adaptation is just that, an adaptation. The movie maintains the general feel of the book. The humor, the love, all of the emotion. But due to its format, scenes and characters are left behind. If you can, look up the deleted scenes and watch them as part of the movie. I hate that they were cut. But... they had to be. Don't get me wrong, I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS FILM. It's just that it deserved to be a limited series. While the emotion was maintained, subplots and layers were lacking. I wish I had known these things before watching just to ease/prepare for the pain a bit so I hope this helps all of you.
Princess Protection Program (2009)
wonderful, amazing, DCOM
What I've realized from literally any bad review of this movie is that it's a full grown adult (who does not like DCOMs) saying it's bad because it has the traits of a DCOM. Disney Channel Original Movies are a genre of their own and if you like said genre, this movie is amazing. It's funny, it's wholesome, it IS NOT made for a forty year old movie critic. The only even somewhat annoying part is that it's set in Louisiana yet does not accurately showcase Louisiana. Thing is, though, everything ever set in Louisiana is inaccurate because no one from out of state has any idea what in state life is like, total different culture from anywhere else, so that's understandable.
