This is a very good sequel
9 July 2023
I don't get why this movie is rated at 7.1, this sequel is very well done. You can all watch it without any concern.

There are some nits to pick but compared to previous movies, this one resembles the atmosphere of the 1987 original one the most and it is the best sequel by far imo.

There is no Alien mashup. Also no politics or anything of the sort, it is really pure Predator franchise.

They had some attention to detail and subverted expectations here and there.

I also liked the fact they depicted the natives very well and the CGI is pretty good, the aerials are very nice, visuals overall are pretty great.

Top notch prequel to GoT
30 October 2022
This is one of those shows that will pick pace, so far the first season has been very introductory and slow on the violence and drama. That's not a bad thing, remember that GoT screwed up the 7th and 8th seasons just to push into the disappointing ending faster.

The high points of that show were the mythology, the mysteries of the red woman, etc. Things that deserve a lower pace to be explained.

I mean, I really like it, very carefully crafted, good acting, superb soundtrack, superb visuals and of course the story is very interesting.

Why detracting a star? Because I want to see how things progress and I didn't like subtle wokeness that they tried to shoehorn on it.

So far a fan, but a watchful fan.

This movie is appaling
31 December 2021
Back in the day, the two other installments of The Matrix were criticized for having spoiled the unique vibe of the original one.

Those movies are *masterpieces* compared to Resurrections. This movie is so bad and stupid, full of unoriginal movie clichés, predictable lines, dumb soundtrack, abysmal lore.

Sure go ahead and watch it if you have nothing better to do, like playing checkers.

top notch TV Show
4 October 2021
This is a top notch show. I only detracted one star because sometimes context for some things was rushed and obscure. Other than that, very good show.

It is not boring, it is actually bad
24 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was not only boring to follow, it had a lot of nonsensical elements to it.

The problems they face do not convince (one can't related to them) because they are introduced with nothing reasonable underpinning them.

The algae problem and the oxygen tanks are like they were taken from countless other spaceship-movies as they are by themselves a sort of trope/theme that needs no further development and can be presented as-is. No, they can't, and this movie is a perfect example of why they can't.

a must-see portrayal of ... ourselves ... but not quite "society"
21 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There are details in this movie which were very accurately noted in TheKing87's review.

The summing up of that review is that this film depicts society. That's the reviewer's take on the movie, which is very fair, but ultimately the movie doesn't force this conclusion upon us.

In fact, this film has some premises (such as noted by TheKing97 himself) which are not entirely in parallel with real societal life.

For instance, in the movie, eating up your cellmate entails going to a higher hierarchical position (literally up and with more food). That's not true in society (metaphorically speaking of course). Putting morals aside, destroying another person doesn't entail getting any tangible benefit per se. Oftentimes, the benefit wasn't present even when we lived as small groups of brutes in caves.

I see the movie more as an essay of human behavior, that happens (sometimes) given that people are fighting for their lives. This is akin to the toilet paper hoarders (and other-stuff-hoarders) at the beginning of the covid19 pandemic (or the morons who refuse to wear a mask in confined spaces).

When you are in lock-down ...

... and only have magic mushrooms to eat.

That's the kind of movie you make.

Incomprehensible babble topped with superb acting. You will be left guessing what the story really is because I don't think the author knows neither.

Better Call Saul: Bad Choice Road (2020)
Season 5, Episode 9

We know what Kim managed to do ...
14 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Kim managed to save Saul's ass with her speech skills. Now, Nacho is under suspicion and Lalo is probably going to do something to him. In the next episode I believe Nacho's arch is coming to an end. I think it will be a good one, at least I hope for it, but we never know.

As for Saul and Kim, I have no idea how that will end. Saul isn't with her in Braking Bad, but here she is throwing EVERYTHING away to be with him completely. Let's see what happens next.

A review and small note about the "bad reviewing trend"
7 March 2020
Before I go into the actual review, just a small "rant". I came here to see find info and found a single review giving it 4/10 by a cruise01 user.

First off, it is impossible to rate a TV show by a single, or even a couple, of episodes. So I feel a bit stupid by doing the same, but this cruise01 is so wrong about what he wrote that it merits a reply.

To cut to the chase, cruise01 is bad reviewing for the sake of bad reviewing. Not only that, he gave spoilers without tagging his/her review accordingly.

It is very common nowadays for YTer wannabes go trashing things left and right just because, think about cancel culture mixed with a need to "say something". I really can't tell for sure tho, as it is always very difficult to make sense of nonsense.

What I do can tell is that this series will probably NOT be bad. If anything, it might fail only due to being very ambitious. The very first episode is touching timeless philosophical questions, and bringing in quantum computing into the mix.

Do we live in a Laplacian Universe? Does everything has a cause? If everything has a cause, is there freewill? If there is no freewill, can you be accountable by your actions?

Take cruiser01's review for instance. Was it a product of random typing, or cause-consequence relationship between ignorance and cheap internet availability?

The theme surrounding freewill and moral choices is rehearsed at the very first episode, and the project with the "quantum computer" (which seems to be a sort of super quantum computer) seems to be at the heart of everything.

No doubt a quantum computer is a very curious thing. Right when we know everything is essentially indeterminate by the Uncertainty principle, we use just that to build a deterministic machine.

But I should notice that the way a quantum machine works is a matter of engineering, even though the show wants to explore this concept and its relationship with those philosophical questions.

Let us see how things evolve. Right now I give it a 9 because I really enjoyed the first episode for these reasons: very solid acting, good scenery, the theme is interesting (something lacking nowadays), oh and no "quantum" shenanigans while still validly talking about it.

I watched Ex Machina and really enjoyed it, hope to see similar content here.

Mr. Robot: Hello, Elliot (2019)
Season 4, Episode 13

We are all ...
24 December 2019
... Elliot Alderson ... well, at least in a way. There is a bit of Spinoza's God in the finale. We are the manifestation of all the facets of Nature, Natura naturans.

Being that a valid interpretation or not, it is a surprising finale, that has been hinted at before, but that seems to let open to the viewer how s/he would take it.

This is not a 6.6 movie
20 December 2019
Ok, so this movie had awful romance and pitiful lines, like that of "sand is coarse".

Also, some of the CGI is goofy and poorly delivered.

That said, I can't leave this in 6.6 in the light of the new Disney trilogy, which just ended in a predictable disastrous way.

This movie does deliver far better action scenes, to the very least. And it has some back story that makes sense. If the romance awful part is ignored, it is not as bad as fans put it.

Some flawed minor things, but everything you can expect of a SW title.
20 December 2019
There was one major thing that I disliked about this movie when I watched it in the Cinema. The transition of Anakin to the Dark Side is unconvincing.

Yes, he wanted to save Padmé, but why would he just go about killing jedi kids and doing other awful things so fast? It is as if he was always an evil psycho instead of a normal guy who fell into darkness due to a lie. On top of that, a gullible fool when it came to Palpatine, but very suspicious when it came to the Jedi.

I don't think the actor is to blame, but the poor dialogue/script Lucas sometimes writes, no one is perfect (the "sand is coarse" dialogue comes to mind).

Other than that, this is a massively underrated movie considering the SW universe. There is no way ANY of the new disney SW can come close to this in rating terms. Overly complaining fans really left an unwarranted bad record for this movie.

The movie has amazing action, amazing lightsaber fights, wonderful CGI for its time, that even today looks good, and it has a clear and interesting plot. This movie is a Masterpiece if you compare this to the Disney shenanigans.

This is very close to Empire Strikes Back, which is arguably perhaps the greatest SW movie ever made.

Rise of Mary Sue: All leakes were true - abismally disappointed - fans are not exaggerating
20 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, I'm giving this 2. And it is only because this movie was much better than the previous 2 ones and really tried to salvage the train-wreck that TLJ was. So I think it is unfair to rate it like I rated TLJ, a sound 1 (only because I can't give zero).

No, SW didn't "ruin my childhood", I am simply pointing obvious mistakes which are really inexcusable for a hyped movie such as this.

First -1 star for having continued the destruction of Luke character. There is no excuse for that, even the story being about new characters. If that's so, why then use Han, Leia, Luke, Chewbacca? Minus 1 here is really being generous, what they did to Luke was absolutely inconsistent and unnecessary.

-1 star for not even remotely using Anakin, the most important character of the whole saga, the most powerful jedi ever, while revamping Palpatine in totally chaotic manner. While Anakin is a Force ghost and didn't appear, Palpatine was blown up in the Death Star generator and the Death Star itself blew up, but hey his decrepit physical form was preserved.

-1 star for introducing that ridiculous dagger, in a ridiculous place, accessible in a ridiculous manner, for a ridiculous purpose.

-1 star for putting Snoke as Palpatine puppet without further ado.

-1 star for the C3PO memory wipe, it made no sense and it was unnecessary for the story.

-1 star for Rey miraculous power of cure. This was something that Palpatine and Darth Plagueis needed to train and study a lot before they could do, and not even Vader could do, but Rey's OP character can do anything with no effort. (Alas, blood doesn't matter as Luke is forced to say in the movie)

-1 star for messing with Force ghosts. What is the purpose of relying on Jedis if the Force ghosts can just go and grab light sabers, levitate ships, and ultimately interact with the physical world without the danger of being killed? DUH!!

-1 star for the ending; so Rey is a Palpatine, who never trained, can beat everybody, including Palpatine himself with just two light sabers and pushing his electrical rays back onto him? Seriously, if she is so OP just because she is a Palpatine, would Palpatine himself just die like that? He was, ehmmm, frying the whole rebel fleet just some moments prior ... LOL. And again, Kylo playing basically no role whatsoever in his final defeat. Yoda himself couldn't beat Palpatine like that when Palpatine was allegedly considerably weaker.

So Rey is not only a Mary Sue, she is an outright Godess. Yoda, Vader, Luke, Palpatine, simply puny earthlings.

I could go on detracting Stars for the politically correct intimations in this, but whatever. This is not a movie for children, none of the movies in this new trilogy really are.

This movie is the worst SW ever made by far
20 December 2019
I just watched Rise of Skywalker. It is clear that they couldn't salvage, in episode 9, the absolutely awful decisions made in this movie.

Not that ROS (or TFA) was that good neither, it wasn't, but episode 8 could have put things in perspective in a better way while not entirely destroying the Skywalker saga, and episode 9 would have greatly benefited from this.

I can't for the life of me understand how this can have a rating that is close to any of the 6 previous movies, let alone be better rated than some of them. I'm sure people rating this didn't watch all of them, so have a well deserved 1 for being very unoriginal, for the dumb jokes, for the weak ideas and the destruction of Luke character.

6.8 as of now is highly underrating this movie
23 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It seems that no one noticed what the daughters are.

Watch it and re-watch it, pay attention to all clues. Why is it that the first daughter is born at 1 day from extinction, and then the show a small girl and display 39 years since extinction?

Who is the woman outside?

Why mother, who is almighty and powerful, did all of this?

When you start to figure out you will rate this 10/10.

top 5 best shows ever made
2 October 2019
I've watched this show about 4 times throughout the years. The only thing I could criticize is the second season with the older Gaius Octavian Caesar, really didn't like it that much.

It is not accurate to perfection, but it is accurate enough. I wish they could remade this, continue with the 20 years following the last season or something similar. Apparently the show was discontinued due to a too expensive budget.

Mark Antony playing was simply superb, the best character along with Titus Pullo. I highly recommend watching it.
