Criminal Minds: Awake (2015)
I love Criminal Minds but the Geography always bothers me
Why is it always wrong? I have lived and visited many of the episodes settings and it is just wrong. Normally no big deal. I get it is filmed elsewhere and photo shopped but it is always just way, way too wrong. It bothers me. Maybe research a tad better? Living in Phoenix this is the second show where you just see it is obvious not PHX, not correct in their research. In the cop killer episode, I worked a block away from the street they supposed setting of the gang raid. It was obviously Cali and not PHX.
In this episodes, Awake, it was a blatant geographical error. Driving to Chandler from PHX is a pure city 15 minute drive, the 5th largest in the USA to be exact. It is a short drive, no one would pull over to sleep. There is no large open desert area as shown, there is no rural area at all. There is most certainly no rest stops. If you were to drive from Phx to Chandler it would look like a [reaking parking lot on any given day in LA. Way off on this one. It is not that hard to make it more realistic. Like Phx to Wickenberg or Payson. I have seen this error in many cities they go to. It is annoying and lazy. To me the city in this show is a character in the story.
Criminal Minds: Riding the Lightning (2006)
Appropriate and timely. Great episode.
And the person who thinks murdering an innocent victim is Liberalism has some severe issues.
The Florida Project (2017)
Great acting, too close to home behaviors
This movie hit too close to home with issues I was having in my classroom. The reviewer who said kids her age do not act this way is totally wrong. After teaching for 23 years kids are being raised in more traumatic situations and this movie showcases this nicely and sadly. I have had many students who acted worse than Moonee and are being raised by unqualified parents. I figured I see this every day in real life so did not need to see nor be reminded of this in the movie. Gritty, sad, and dark.
