97% Owned (2012)
plain and clear documentary which will surprise probably more than 97% of its viewers
Simple facts described in a plain and simple manner :
the building stone of economy is how money is created. And, most importantly, debt is explained : that there is no economy w/out debt. Debt is core. It's all about the control of debt, and who "owns" debts.
As is, debt is as important a concept, as creation of money is. And this is not at all about some 3% of coin & paper money in the system, it's essentially about some 97++% of 'virtual' money being send back and fro. And about a specific type of money that only exsists and can be used with, for instance, the Bank of England -- and nowhere else.
A complicated system which evolved from simple facts when law decided to forbid private banks to issue their own paper & coin money in the 19th century.
But then somehow, and it's not a mystery, private banks still keep on issuing money (tho not their own paper & coin notes)
and that is, in essence, what this doumentary is about : the how, when and why.
A must watch, to be honest and a 10-star docu if only the female narrator's voice would not have been mixed in in such a shallow manner (often too hard too grasp; a pity) : it deserves a clear firm straight sound given that the documentary itself is profoundly clear.
Picture a Scientist (2020)
a must see, for scientific students -- as well as all teachers and academic staff
Without taking sides -- if there really would be a choice even imagining such choice -- the documentary describes. It doesn't quite tell, speak or attempt to communicate some events, personal stories of all injustice on all levels, dimensions and scales in academia, in the USA -- btw when having watched it, there's no need to detail it's the same in Europe, Asia, wherever. That became implicity obvious. And that itself is reason to argue why this documentary is excellent.
Those interest in science, getting thins done in the field of academia better watch it before setting foot on any univiersity campus. Not because the academia universe is worse than other worldly universes, the arts for instance, or so. No. Coz the same applies to the arts. Probably, well, most likely, to sports too.
But in academia, one did assume for way too long neglecting strong evidence, it can't happen given most people assuemd in that field are bright, least intelligent to some extent.
But it's not about intelligence. And that's what the documentary tells w/out telling because all it does is : it describes. As a matter of fact, it just reports. W/out taking sides as if there really would be a choice even imagining such choice ..
Greenland (2020)
it requires Guy Ritchie
If it is not Guy Ritchie who directs Butler, then it's not worth mentioning G Butler at all -- unless one focuses on the potential that movie could have had
Walking on Water (2018)
a documentary which is one
It is a Documentary on 'The Floating Piers' project by Christo -- his first public project after Christo's wife Jeanne-Claude had died.
In Land-Art terms, art curator's speak, the Floating Piers were an 'on-site' installation attracting a great many visitors -- on opening day alone some 270,000 visitors : And that did cause massive problems : too many people. That is an issue the documentary details, tells about without judgment, without commenting, how Christo and his crew had to deal with it, how it all came about from first design/layout steps till de-installation.
It's a documentary that provides neither interpretation nor big-headed, hyper-intellectual sounding phrases about art, Christo, or the work -- the transitory on-site LandArt -- itself.
Highly recommended. Quite refreshing -- a must for an Christo fan and/or LandArt enthusiast.
scapes me how this could be categorized as 'Comedy', or 'Adventure'
it's neither
West of Liberty (2019)
straight solid series
If only it were not the main character (Wotan Wilke Möhring as Ludwig Licht) to be a complete nuisance, in his orig. German tongue, as well as in English.
He, unfortunately, isn't up for this : either overdoing it, boldly, coming across pretty dumb, wooden, or quite uninspired he is attempting to deliver to us some utter boring 'German Character' who fails to be one : a charcater, of some sort.
the series as such is in good tradition of plain and concisely told stories within a story one expects from excellent British and Nordic films, of what Dominic Graf and his scholars would have produced in Germany.
Angel Has Fallen (2019)
.. has fallen. indeed. it failed.
Sad to say, Geral Butler somehow managed to become a trademark for cheap flicks
Morgan Freeman couldn't secure a reasonable vote for this piece, either.
It is a cheap flick -- empty content, sloppy acting.
No passion, no soul.
