Jam Packed Overview of the Biblical Creation
16 November 2017
Anyone looking to get a crash course on Biblical Creation, this is the film. At 2 hours, it never lets up, giving the viewer a detailed overview of Creation's 1st 6 days. The 3D and creation graphics make it interesting to watch. We watched as a family and were thrilled to see the biblical account so coherently explained. We are looking forward to an eventual DVD release as a tool to introduce others to creation science. Experts range from apologists, biologists, anthropologists, physicists, astronomers, physicians, geologists, mathematicians and evangelists! We are looking forward to part 2.

Great Overview of the Evidence for the Exodus and Alternative Theories
20 January 2015
This film provides an engaging introduction and overview of the evidence for the entry of Joseph into Egypt, the 14 years of plenty and famine, the fruitful multiplication of Jacob's descendants (Israel), their subsequent slavery, the 10 plagues, including detailed evidence of the 10th plague, the exodus from Egypt into Canaan and Israel's conquest of Canaan. It demonstrates the difficulty with dating ancient events, but also the patterns of evidence that line up with the Biblical record and also lines up against the Egyptian historical sequence, but is generally panned today since it does not match up with the modern dating of Egyptian history. This evidence calls for an objective review.

Inspiring Tale of Forgotten Youth Resistance
17 May 2013
This is a grand historical tale of courage and how youth helped support the resistance movement. Most citizens sat back and did nothing as the Nazi's fought it out internally with the Resistance. Many young people, made the courageous decision to give their lives for country and the protection of the innocent (and people they did not even know). The Christian undertone is there, but not heavy-handed. Faith drives these people to love their neighbors and lay down their lives for the same. The story and characters are engaging, and the mild humor in various situations is very well done. I hope that such a film can gain a broader release. Critiques that discuss every thread of clothing, accent, or backdrop in terms of authenticity go too far. This is a great film which make a unique contribution to WWII film history. Young people throughout the world need to see this film, and more like it.

Lovely Entertainment for the Whole Family
19 January 2013
Our family loves Sir Lancelot, and are sorry that there was not a season 2 made. We are pleasantly surprised by the color episodes in the 2nd half of the 1st and only season. My 6-yr old daughter loves these episodes. She takes sword and shield and gets her friends and infants to place the Caledon (Lancelot's horse), Brian (Lancelot's squire), King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. The episodes are fast-paced and open with a scene that usually immediately sets up the story. The story- lines are for the most part good for children. The humor is pleasant. When you watch them in close succession, its easy to pick up on the actors who play multiple people during the series, townspeople, villains, and friends. The theme song is wonderful. The main untenable thing in terms of story lines that stands out as totally untenable, is the fact that the other knights of the round table never want to fight. So, the task always falls to Sir Lancelot.

A bygone era for TV series for sure. If you like these, you will also like Robin Hood, William Tell, and the Buccaneer.

Under-rated Epic, not Well-known
19 January 2013
Fredric March was quite a versatile actor, comedy, screwball comedy, epic drama, courtroom drama, period drama, great literature. The story is reminiscent of Les Miserables, the movie version in which he also played the lead role. I find it surprising that this film has not been remade, considering the countless renditions of Les Miserables there have been over the years. It is a sordid tale for the young, so would not recommend for children. The characters could use a bit more depth, but at 2 hours and 20 minutes, there is still a lot of ground to cover, in a 1300 page novel. It would be nice to see what was cut that did not make the final version.

Excellent Overview of Wycliff's Life
23 March 2007
I cannot understand why Hollywood has not produced epic films about the lives of the English Reformers. In so many cases, you have a single man standing against the world, willing to take a stand against corruption. In the case of Wycliff, it did not cost him his life, but it came close several times. This lower-budget, but still outstanding portrayal of Wycliff is worth a careful watch to get acquainted with his life and work and his stand for Christ and the Bible, during an age of corruption. There are several poignant moments where Wycliff answers problems in the world around him with skillful application of Scripture. I watch this movie at least once a year, along with "God's Outlaw" (about William Tyndale) and introduce others to it often.

Great little snapshot of American Revolutionary history!
27 April 2006
This is a great little story about James Otis and his involvement in in the "Writs of Assistance" controversy of the 1760's. In 1760, Otis received an appointment as Advocate General of the Admiralty Court. He faces a dilemma when his office is sworn to defend the Writs, which he had come to regard as odious. The writs would enable British authorities to enter any colonist's home with no advance notice, no probable cause, and no reason. Heston plays a conflicted James Otis who is torn between defending freedom and disrupting his quiet and comfortable family life. The show takes some liberties with the true story, but nevertheless, it captures the core of James Otis' legacy. The original Westinghouse Studio One show has a short exchange at the end where an American Legion executive thanks a Westinghouse executive for their contribution to furthering the American way of life. I wish more such American history were available now on TV. The Studio One series would be quite novel today, as nothing like it is on network TV.
