Jack Ryan: Strongman (2019)
Almost Comical
I really enjoyed season 1 because of its storyline and interesting characters. Season 2 has a confusing storyline but more importantly it just has far too many unbelievable, chaotic, stupid, nonsensical and rubbish action scenes, plottwists and decisions. I rate it one because the current rating anno 2023 has to go down. If i'd rate it purely for myself, I'd give it a 3. Jack Ryan has really dumbed down for the worse. It's also not believable that our analyst is basically turning into a one-man army. This series strays very far from the source material, but also fails as an action series in general because of its ludacris plot.
Archer: Archer: 1999 -- Robert De Niro (2019)
What a show
I enjoyed the last 3 seasons, however I was never a fan of the whole "diving into Archer's psyche" while he's in a coma. I shouldn't overthink, but it does all come down to "it's all a dream".
However, after 3 seasons ánd 3 years in-series, the payoff in this season finale is huge. We get to witness these real heartfelt moments in the show. However few and far apart they are, they never fail to hit.
The score is just what I felt during the ending montage right before the final scene. Feels. What a ride it has been these past 10 seasons. You're a badass Archer. Duh. Can't wait for what's next.
Archer: Double Indecency (2016)
Laughed my ass off
I've been really digging into Archer after a long period of doubt and I haven't regretted it for a second. The writers really keep it interesting and fresh. They constantly try new stuff, running jokes and epic laughs, even seven seasons in.
This episode in particular made me laugh so hard. The setup is brilliant, all characters get a chance to shine and the payoff at the end is great and hilarious. Krieger just earns a gold medal for this episode. I rewatched those last 3-4 minutes multiple times.
Can't wait to see what Archer has in store next. My faith in this show is big and so far they don't dissapoint.
Monster: Silenced (2022)
Masterpiece on the small screen.
Tragically beautiful cinema. It's an incredible hard watch yet you're tied to the screen. With great immersion, storytelling and performances, Silenced pulls you in and never lets you go. It's the highpoint of this series that pulls the focus away from Dahmer, only to bring it back with a bigger sence of disgust than ever before. It's a brilliant move that hits incredibly hard. It shifts the tonality of the series that was always dark to an even closer degree of discomfort. This episode could stand alone on itself as a short movie and still be amazing, beginning to end. I was left speechless. Great.
Peaky Blinders: The Road to Hell (2022)
Weird, flawed, bad tempo, weird beats
I'm truly dissapointed in S6 so far. It's a bland slowburn that only shapes up when it's almost over, it seems. The few story beats that do prove to be intense should have had longer time in the spotlights. It feels rushed and mispaced at the same time. I'm eager for the ending, but not for the reasons I thought I would be.
Gotham: Rise of the Villains: Mommy's Little Monster (2015)
Penguin is my dude
Penguin steals every scene he's in. This episode gives him plenty to shine. Action, emotion, drama, twists. One of the best episodes of this series so far.
Crimes of the Future (2022)
Don't believe the hype.
Truly awful. Boring story. Boring filming. Dull shots. Lifeless environments. Mediocre acting. No realistic or shocking gore. I'm well past dissapointment.
3-Headed Shark Attack (2015)
Learn to have a laugh
If that scene just at the hour mark is not Oscar worthy then nothing is. Trejo's character is underway for more than half an hour movie time and I just maugh my ass of.
La casa de papel: Válvulas de escape (2021)
The episode where it went south completely
I had a lot of moments beginning in S3 where I thought "This show is losing it" but this episode did it for me. Tokyo still narrating from the afterlife and whispering "gracias" to Rio? Oh please. And all the "woke" stuff about gender roles and what not that serves no function to move along the story: cut that crap out...
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Great gory generic slasher
Don't think too much on this one. It's a straight-forward slasher you watch for a lot of gory kills. Sure the story is basic and the acting not oscarworthy. But it doesn't need to be. The kills are worthy of the title name. Plus the fact that it's a group of "cancel culture" & "woke" youngsters who get caught up here adds to the fun of the film, for people who enjoy these films like I do.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Don't look up, do watch this movie
If ever a movie perfectly depicted the sad reality of social media, fake news and the fake world we live in. Great acting, great story, perfect criticism.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
A nine to counter the negative ones.
Don't think too much on this one. The negativity surrounding the release is way too harsch. If you - like me - played the original 2 games as a kid, you'll be smiling a lot of the time. Only the casting and character of dorky Leon is a big fail for me. Further, it's a great game-to-film.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
Very boring without depth
I'd say that perhaps the depth of this film was lost on me, but i've seen a fair share of movies and love a great slowburn which takes its time. This one however, I felt, came down to nothing. Acting is great but the story falls way short. It's just boring as hell without any payoff.
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)
Enjoyed it
Really found the build-up and mystery satisfying. Not as bad as people make it out to be.
Red Faction: Origins (2011)
Really nice for fans
Not a high-budget, but a well told and acted story. I enjoyed it.
Postal (2007)
Pure fun
Turn off your brain and just enjoy this insane movie. It could never be made nowadays and it's kind of a cult hit.
Far Cry (2008)
Not as bad as some make it out to be
It's cheesy and sometimes poorly acted but i still enjoyed it, just don't expect The Expendables. It's not as bad as some make it out to be. Decent action, decent story.
Long live the Far Cry games.
The English Game (2020)
Inaccurate, downton abbey with a little bit football
Dissapointed. As a football fan it hurts to see the historical freestyling as Fergus Suter wasn't part of the team that won the 1883 FA Cup but rather of their fiercest rivals that won it the next three years. and Jimmy Love never played for any Blackburn team.
The football also takes a step back when confusing love triangles and gentlemen's disagreements take place.
The FA Cup deserved a better fiction.
Cold Pursuit (2019)
Not what you expect at all
Went in for a typical Liam Neeson action flick. Got a Fargo-like Cohen brothers-vibe dark thriller comedy. Real good flick. Laughed so hard with the whole movie and the finale.
