Monster (2018)
Outstanding cinematic experience
Please watch. It's one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Great cinematography. Gritty lighting. Tense script. Oscar winning acting across the board. Social message that gets you thinking. An important story, well told.
The King of Staten Island (2020)
much more than a comedy
Great acting across the board. all seem to bounce well off of each other. it's promoted as being a comedy but it is so much more than that. if is a really good story that just makes you 'feel' something. feel good, feel sad, feel connected. apart from Pete Davidson, who was exceptional, the mum and girlfriend were equally so well acted that you forgot they were acting. original, quirky and deep. highly recommended. by me anyway.... :)
Fathers & Daughters (2015)
little girl deserves an oscar
It's a watchable film. slightly cheesy script. but the kid is out of this world good. Crowe ok. older daughter very good. older daughter's boyfriend also very good.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
very enjoyable but tough to get going!
So... if anyone has read captain correllis mandolin by louis de Bernie they might understand how it takes effort to step into the work of a genius. I loved the movie but it took me three or four go's to get past the first 10 minutes. then i watched it all in one go. made me feel very awake. traumatised emotionally in a good way. at the end, i did not have a clue what it meant but i did not care. I read a few spoiler explanations here and went... oh ah oh ah... i see i get it now how clever. and in an absurd way i was also disappointed to understand. a bit like a magic trick that loses its slowness when you know how it's done. i think this film is going to be a bit like marmite. you are going to eiher love it or hate it. life is a bit like that. just dont read the spoilers and enjoy it while you can. ;)
